Embassy Suites Chicago - Downtown River North Reviews

Good location - close to downtown and magnificent mile. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Inventory in good condition - a little bit obsolete. Breakfast was super good but make sure to arrive early since it can get quite busy. Staff is very friendly and helpful overall.

It is a very good hotel, I have been here three times. Good staffs! I left my jacket in breakfast hall and didn’t realize it till it was cold 2 days later…and I asked the staff during my breakfast, she immediately went to find it out for me! Warm feeling now…

Good location

Very nice, clean and tidy.

The location is good as it is in the center of tourism, but the service and customer friendliness are not very good. Breakfast was fast food except for the omelette, the facilities were a bit outdated, and the room was not cleaned unless requested.

The room facilities are a bit old, but the bed was comfortable and the room size was also great :)

Great hospitality hour and breakfast. Public spaces very open and clean. The staff go out of their way to help make stay easier-simple things like breaking cash into smaller bills( even though mostly cashless world), grabbing silverware when breakfast area not open. We had a great experience for just a one night stay.

Room was suppose to have a city view and it didn’t. TVs in the room didn’t work so had to switch rooms.(downgrade) elevators were super slow..

The hotel no longer provides house keeping during your stay. Our tv did not work well nor the toilet. The next night had party girls and real annoying. The breakfast had runny eggs.

Nice stay. Really good location. During busy time the elevators gave a little wait time. Go to breakfast early or towards the end. 8-9 was crazy busy! The breakfast staff was very kind and helpful.

We stayed for 2 nights and it was a great location and very affordable! Our room size was perfect for our family of 4. Breakfast and omelette station was great! Only pet peeve was the room felt too warm to me. I cracked the window several times. The elevators were very slow. Hotel could definitely use twice as many elevators.

Issue with ******* and hotel - was on phone with both for way to long. Hotel staff dropped ball and lacked communication. Spoke with multiple people at hotel and kept making promises that weren't kept. Manager did not take responsibility for a reservation. Ended up going to a different hotel downtown Chicago (great stay, highly recommended the DoubleTree by Hilton) after having to alter travel plans the day before.

When I’m traveling with my family of 4, I prefer Embassy Suites so I booked this, then I saw some reviews that made me nervous about what I would find. BUT this place was great. Very clean, updated, friendly, perfect location. Best breakfast we’ve ever had at any embassy suites, the evening happy hour did get crowded and often there was only one bartender, but they honored everyone’s drink tickets so it just requires a little patience if you didn’t get there early. great value for your money if you had a family in one room like we did. during peak hours the elevators could be slow. We have working legs so we requested to be on a lower floor so we could just use the stairs, but they couldn’t accommodate us so we were on 9. It was a bit annoying especially when people on the 3rd floor would take the elevator to get down one floor, but I digress. My only real complaint is the temp. We were there first week in April and it was still cold in Chicago, so the heat was on. You couldn’t control it with the thermostat, there was no AC, so we woke up in the middle of the night sweating. The other party with us in a different room had the same issue. There are windows that open a few in. and cool the room down but then you have the outdoor noise which is very loud as you would expect. When closed, the windows do a great job of quieting the noise, but you can’t sleep with them open unless you have earplugs. So prepare accordingly. We turned off the thermostat and it seemed to help some.

only problem was two elevators were broken at the same time and there was a big back up to get on one.
