As Marriott members, we chose to stay at this hotel for its location and brand name. Unfortunately it was below standards. Upon arrival at 4:00 pm after a long day of travel, we were advised that our rooms were not ready. We were placed on a “wait list” and would be called when the rooms were ready. When we advised the front desk clerk we needed to shower and change clothes before leaving to attend our evening activities, she suggested we could freshen up, and change in the lobby bathroom and take our bags downstairs to the bell captain who would store them until we returned. She also advised that when we returned after our evening events to check in, we could discuss compensation. At 1:00 am when we finally checked in, the desk staff was cordial, and agreed to nominal credit to our account. Sadly, our rooms smelled musty and looked dated. This was not the end of our follies. While the complimentary breakfast and kitchen staff were wonderful, we were again disappointed when we returned to our room after a day of site seeing on a hot and sunny day and found our room had not been cleaned, as the bed had not been made and we did not have clean towels. Once again, no showers before heading out for the evening. We went to the front desk and the uncaring front desk employee was condescending suggesting we were told there is no maid service on two day stays. He added there were higher tiered Marriott reward members who had wore situations, including unhonored room reservations. He was argumentative and insisted we were told we would not have maid service, which we were not. While towels were in our room when we returned at 11:30 pm, that young man needs training in customer service. Marriott you can do better.
