The Lydoun Motel

We have stayed at the Lydoun Motor Inn on several occasions over the years. It has remained very good value in a handy location for visiting nearby towns like Rutherglen, Beechworth, Albury/Wodonga and Wangaratta. Our room was very clean and very well set up with a microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, cups, glasses, plates and cutlery. We will definitely stay there again.

Such a clean motel, although older, with everything you need,a very comfy bed, spotless bathroom, china ,cutlery and microwave available or breakfast to room.It has lovely outdoor areas , pool for Summer, and nice ambience. Is close to railway line however we enjoyed hearing the freight trains going through.

Stayed only one night. Clean and cosy room, with everything that you need. Very nice service, very helpful and kind. Close to motorway and easy access. I can highly recommend it for everyone who wants to take a good brake and rest when traveling in the area.

I recently stayed at the Lydoun Motel for the second time, this time for 3 nights. For an affordable motel, the Lydoun excels for cleanliness, amenity and courtesy from the staff. I was visiting Chiltern to birdwatch but would highly recommend the Lydoun whether you are just passing through or want to stay a while to explore the area/look for birds.

I was recently in this part of the state for business, due to a tennis event I was unable to procure accommodation in Albury and Wodonga for the night...I remembered that this motel existed about 27 kilometres away. I called the motel and the lady was able to confirm a room for me. On arrival, a gentleman served me and he was lovely. I made my way to my room to put my things before I went looking for dinner. The room is well appointed for a budget motel, it meets all needs. Further the motel and the grounds are exceptionally well maintained. The guests in the room next door were excited by the proximity of the train line nearby and were doing a bit of train spotting. I was less excited. I was even less excited when I found that the bed is a bit too firm for my liking and slept badly... not only did I sleep badly because of the mattress, I roused awake for each train that went past. ( I am sure I would have slept through if the mattress and pillow were better) So whilst it is located in a stunning village, with great customer service ... this motel is not for me. If they upgraded the bedding, I would return... but it would be unlikely for them to do so.

Spur of the moment to book a night at Lydoun Motel. We were extremely happy with the cleanliness and comfort of the room and the friendliness and helpfullness of the staff. Would thoroughly recommend the Lydoun Motel.

Lydoun Motel Chiltern is the classic Aussie rural motel, and does it exceptionally well. Beds are comfortable, with options of doona or blankets, with soft and not so soft pillows. Rooms are spotless, including the bathroom. Coffee and tea making facilities and a toaster are already in the room, but a request at reception gets you additional crockery and cutlery if needed. I was there in winter, but the heater kept the room comfortably warm. It is close to the Hume Highway and a rail line, but I heard nothing of them when I had one of my best sleeps ever. This is my new stop-over spot on the Hume Highway.

Needing a bed for the night in the way back to Melbourne, I searched for a place close to the Hume Highway, and couldn’t have been happier with the experience at the Lydoun Motel. Arriving about 7pm having given only 20 minutes notice of my arrival, I was greeted by the very friendly owner. The room was spotlessly clean, and the aircon already turned on for my arrival. The bathroom is modern, and again spotlessly clean. There is a fringe and items for tea/coffee making . There is a cafe which opens from Wednesday to Friday (not open when I stayed) The cafe/bakery in Chiltern is open from 8am and does great coffee and food. I found the Lydoun a high quality example of a traditional motel, and would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at The Lydoun Motel 8/1/2023 and what a fantastic little gem. Friendly, helpful staff, lovely clean pool, comfy beds and one of the cleanest motel rooms we have ever stayed at including the spotless bathroom which is something most motels fail to have. It is a credit to the owners and we will definately stay there again.
