Good location and good service

I booked this hotel for 7 nights and while being there, my trip was shortened by 1 day. My assistant asked if we could shorten the stay with one day and if this would be charged. The hotel manager answered ”We confirm to cancel the last night and it will not cost for this change.” So, I supposed that the last night was not charged. And indeed, the hotel bill was lowered from 18.900 MDL to 16.200 MDL. However, the credit card amount, converted in Euro was equivalent to 18.900 MDL. When asking to correct this, the hotel manager stated that they do charge for the last night because it was a non-refundable rate but they did not charge anything for changing from 7 to 6 nights. (???? non-refundable OK but never experienced a hotel charging for shortening a stay, this was a nonsense argument !!!) In essence, the hotel manager just thought that we would not check what was really charged to the credit card. Hotel Manager: ... do not take people for stupid ... sorry, you just lost one client, ... and I guess others who go through the reviews!

It was my first time in Moldova. Any member of staff I came into contact with, either on the front desk, or in the bar/restaurant spoke very good English. The staff on the reception were particularly helpful. They were happy to help with a late check out as I'd a late flight and also with ordering a taxi to the airport. The room was spacious. Large bathroom. Comfortable bed. Coffee machine and a kettle in the room. Minibar is well stocked with snacks if you don't want to walk to the shops (although there are shops within walking distance of the hotel). Handy location for the train station. It's within walking distance if you get the overnight train from Bucharest. City centre a bit of a walk, but not too far. About 20 minutes walk to the Triumphal Arch. About 30 minutes walk to the Museum of Ethnography & Natural History. Overall, one of the nicer hotels I've stayed in. The reception staff in particular are brilliant. Nothing is any trouble for them and I'd gladly stay again.

Stayed a total of 8 (5+3) nights - this was my base for exploring Moldova. Located a short walk from the main railway station, many shops and restaurants, and a longer walk from the main city sights. Secluded and quiet location. Very spacious rooms. Amenities included refrigerator and electric kettle. Sufficient number of electric outlets. Comfortable bed and pillows. Well lit desk areas. Bathroom with everything in working order in the first room, slow draining shower in the second room. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. As for the negatives, both rooms were on the top floor and had sloped ceilings and sky lights. Especially in the second room, the sloped ceiling came down very low especially near the table area, and I hit my head a couple of times. The sky lights make using an eye mask essential if you don't want to wake up very early. Both rooms had big metal saddles between the room and the bathroom, which can cause tripping, especially at night. Good wifi. Pleasant, helpful staff. Overall a very good value.

My wife stayed alone at this hotel between the end of July and the beginning of August last, for an ”unplanned stop” due to a missed connection between two different travel operators. The hotel in question has competitive prices, especially considering its location in the city center, but the rooms are not all well kept. The more expensive suites are definitely better, which I recommend for occasional guests, also due to the decidedly cleaner bathrooms and more modern internal layout and furnishings. The TVs in the rooms work poorly, but probably only because they are necessarily tuned to Russian broadcasters. Taking this into account, the wi-fi still works wonderfully, and you can easily make up for the lack of TV with a feast of internet multimedia content. Cosy, small hotel with a homely atmosphere. Friendly, sociable staff. Everything is great. The city center is a 20 minute drive. There is a stop nearby. Shops are not far. The airport is less than 29 km away.
