Hotels near Motanul non-stop, Chisinau

After coming by night bus from Kew to Xinau, I tried to check in in the morning and passed it smoothly. The interior is old, but the location is in the center of the city, and the twin bed is about 7400 yen, so I think the cospa is good. The minus points are that Wi-Fi is weak and there were no detailed amenities.

My wife stayed alone at this hotel between the end of July and the beginning of August last, for an ”unplanned stop” due to a missed connection between two different travel operators. The hotel in question has competitive prices, especially considering its location in the city center, but the rooms are not all well kept. The more expensive suites are definitely better, which I recommend for occasional guests, also due to the decidedly cleaner bathrooms and more modern internal layout and furnishings. The TVs in the rooms work poorly, but probably only because they are necessarily tuned to Russian broadcasters. Taking this into account, the wi-fi still works wonderfully, and you can easily make up for the lack of TV with a feast of internet multimedia content. While I was expecting a basic boutique hotel for the price we paid, this place surprised us completely. Everything from the fittings and amenities in the room to the decor was top-notch. I certainly didnt expect a highly wired room with an Android TV-powered smart tv and 300 Mbps blazing internet connectivity! And the hospitality also was on par with higher-end hotels and not like a basic boutique LOCATION: Good location close to all points of interest in the city center DINE + DRINK: They have a lovely wine bar and the breakfast was worth waking up for too. ROOM: We stayed in Room 305, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Random view of the cityscape; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Lovely spa quality cosmetics FACILITIES: Super compact Gym with an Old school free weights and an elliptical machine. Ok for diehard fitness *******, not motivating enough for the rest probably! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free super high-speed Wi-Fi (300 Mbps!) that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages and also comes with a built-in Android TV to treat yourself to all kinds of streaming apps!

I booked this hotel for 7 nights and while being there, my trip was shortened by 1 day. My assistant asked if we could shorten the stay with one day and if this would be charged. The hotel manager answered ”We confirm to cancel the last night and it will not cost for this change.” So, I supposed that the last night was not charged. And indeed, the hotel bill was lowered from 18.900 MDL to 16.200 MDL. However, the credit card amount, converted in Euro was equivalent to 18.900 MDL. When asking to correct this, the hotel manager stated that they do charge for the last night because it was a non-refundable rate but they did not charge anything for changing from 7 to 6 nights. (???? non-refundable OK but never experienced a hotel charging for shortening a stay, this was a nonsense argument !!!) In essence, the hotel manager just thought that we would not check what was really charged to the credit card. Hotel Manager: ... do not take people for stupid ... sorry, you just lost one client, ... and I guess others who go through the reviews!

The hotel is fine, the room was clean, the bed was comfy and it was quiet at night. But... I did give it only 3 stars why? Well, its the little things that make a hotel stay pleasant, and all during my stay i encountered the things that made me go, duh.. not good. First we arrived late at night, we got our room on the fifth floor, only... the elevator didnt work, so how am i supposed to get to my room without a lift... carring the luggage 5 floors was unfun. And then the little things: 1. The water pressure is low, so taking a shower takes a while. Even the toilet takes 5 mins to refill. 2. The lights, in the elevator are dark blue, so you cant really see what floor you are pressing. 3. The lights again, on each floor the lights turn off if there is no movment, but its really quick, so me fumbling for the key 3 secs means i now search for the key in the dark or dance a bit so lights will come back on. 4. The trash can, well its there but the step lever doesn't work so you have to open it with your hand. There were a few more little but annoying things so if you don't mind a bit of the small things, the hotel is cheap and clean.

Very good experience, the room is very big and comfortable!
