Recently visited Newington apartments and was greeted with lovely decorations and furniture upon arrival. It was a comfortable and spacious apartment that provided great amenities. It's close proximity to the city centre ensured we were very able to explore the area during our short stay. However, issues arose as our apartment was meant to include 2 sofas but were instead provided with 1. The staff's response was to ”ensure we thoroughly check photos of the apartment before booking”. This shouldn't be the case when the description included ” two sofas”. Following on the poorly constructed bathroom meant loose handles and screeching showers when the water was turned on. In the midst of a pandemic there is no mention of any additional sanitary measures the management have taken to deal with COVID-19.
Come to Ballarat and stay here. Go to the gold rush town of Mount Shufen during the day and return to the hotel at night. Walking around feels like traveling back to the 19th century. It's very tasteful. Although the facilities are not comparable to international chain brands, it has a different flavor overall. It is worth staying here
Pretty much run of the mill motel but it was clean and had an excellent location. The only draw back is it appears to be aging and some attempts to 'modernize' certain things were not well disguised. Despite it's aging appearance the room was large and had a very large screen TV, limited channel availability. Reception was friendly and helpful. If you were looking for short stay accommodation, nothing fancy, in a good location with most of the amenities you would expect in a motel, I would have to say YES to the Mid City Motel. I would have preferred to rate it 'Above Average' but could not quite bring it up to 'Very Good'.

The location of the hotel is very good, with parking. It is very close to the city center and the lake, and it is reached on foot. The room is relatively large and it should be possible to add an extra bed. The hotel is relatively clean and clean. Worth living again.
This is a lovely hotel in the center of Ballarat. It's not hard to find restaurants and bars in the local area.
HOWEVER, be aware of the nightclub downstairs. It runs until 3 in the morning and can be heard in rooms above. Some sound insulation, either for the nightclub or the rooms, would be fantastic.
Ballarat flashed from Melbourne, the hotel is one step away from the train station and conveniently located. The sound of the train can be heard, and the hotel has earplugs at the bedside. But the staff is seriously insufficient on public holidays, and the front desk +housekeeping seems to be one person. Booked a room rate with breakfast, checkin was told that there was no breakfast, contacted Trip.com customer service to solve it
We stayed in the Grand Room (No 1). The room was very big and had an inviting fire going when we arrived. We did arrive a little earlier than the check in time of 2.00pm and found parking was a bit of an issue. The car parks out the back were full (I assume with cleaning staff) and there were no staff on site. There was no parking out the front - a very busy church or school across the road. We had to park out on the main street and walk our bags around. We made a call on a mobile phone number we had and they organised a key quickly for us which allowed us into our room early. We went out and grabbed lunch and got back around 2.00pm and the car parks were starting to empty out by then and we were able to snag a car park straight out the front. Room was beautiful and full of character. Was very well appointed. If you have problems with stairs I would make sure I book a ground floor room. I couldn't see a lift and there were no staff on site to assist with bags.

The hotel is next to the town's Stuart Street, about a ten minute walk from the train station. The suite is large, the room is large, the air conditioner is also powerful, the room is equipped with a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a washing machine and a dryer. The large dining table is really powerful and can be filled with things. There is no breakfast at the hotel, but you can check out the food at the Golden City Hotel at the intersection.
The hotel is relatively new, the rooms are well-equipped, clean and tidy. It is very close to the city center and the surrounding environment is quite quiet. There is an open-air parking lot next to the hotel, which is free. The hotel has an underground parking lot, and the elevator can go directly to the room floor. When checking in, the waiter will ask you if you want to park your car in the underground garage. It is safer, but it costs 15 per night. knife. The access control can open the basement door and the glass door to enter the hotel. Scan the card and take the elevator to the room. The overall feeling is very safe and convenient.
