This hotel is stunningly good value: superb location, lovely staff, friendly and efficient, remarkably spacious, well appointed, clean rooms, even good views. My one caveat is that the Wifi in my room did not work whenever there was a ute parked between my room and the router, which was most nights. So, if you do not care about Wifi or are happy to sit outside to use it, this is fabulous; but if Wifi in your room is important to you, I would still consider it for its excellent value but I would also consider alternatives.
Stayed in Unit 1 which was located at the end of the hall which was good. Pretty quiet. Staff very friendly and easy to get into the place and out. Great communication. 2 bedroom unit with a window each, queen size beds. One bedroom had an aircon unit, bed side table and lamp which was great. Living area and TV was excellent. Updated kitchen superb with stove top. Air con unit in living area is noisy (sounds like a truck) but you just turn it off when you go to bed and all good. The first morning the alarm in the building went off around 6am which was VERY loud. Someone's smoke detector went off. My mum went out to get someone. Took about 10mins for the alarm to go off. Thankfully we had to get up early anyway haha Bathroom updated with washing machine & dryer. Shower nice but would be nice to have some kind of shower curtain. Overall we just have to be thankful we have showers, air con/heater, nice bed and a roof over our heads! A lovely motel :)

First I thought it's a nice hotel. But the truth is: I have never seen so many cockroaches at one spot before in my life! After I killed the 7th cockroach in my room in the evening I went to the reception. And then I saw where all the cockroaches came from: outside my room in the corridor I saw hundreds (yes, seriously. I don't exaggerate: hundreds ) of cockroaches. Small ones and also very big ones. How did they get in my room: There is a small gap between all room doors and the floor. I saw also in front of neighbouring rooms great numbers of cockroaches. I am sure, they have been in all rooms. Cockroaches are bad and disgusting enough. But even worse was the reaction of the guy at reception: first he tried to fool me by replying with a smile ”that's normal here, we have always many cockroaches”. When I told him that this is not normal he came with me to my room and was himself obviously shocked by the huge amount of cockroaches everywhere inside and outside the room. No, it's not normal that a hotel is full of cockroaches. It's disgusting and a proof of poor hygiene. I wonder how many cockroaches they have in their restaurant. Shut down the hotel, call pest control for a couple of days. And give the receptionist some training how to deal with complaints. I moved out the same evening.
Very supportive staff, friendly and accommodating. Facilities exceeded expectations. Would happily recommend to family and friends. After a long day driving, coming to a location where you can just relax and recharge, knowing that there's no reason for concern is wonderful.
We stayed here for 4 nights arranged by a tour group with dinner included. After a very long coach ride from Cobar we were very glad to reach the motel. First impression when opening our door was disappointment -very shabby and dated decor. The lights were very dim and not enough power points. Bed very hard, Bathroom very old, no hand towels. Shower decent size. The location is the one big plus - opposite the train station if arriving by train this would be the closest accomodation choice. Several clubs and cafes are very close so you can easily walk to get a meal. We had dinner arranged at the motels Chinese restaurant 3 nights out of 4 which was included in our tour. Restaurant is upstairs on the first floor-no lift. Service was extremely rude. Our table didn’t have glasses and water jugs like the others so I asked at the bar for some. I was told no as they were on the table. When I corrected him he got angry and argued with me, then finally brought some to the table without an apology. Food was below average. Our food was pre arranged and we had no choice of dishes. Food was served on large plates in the centre of the tables and we helped ourselves. On the first night we got one burnt dim sim each, fried rice that had no soy sauce - just white rice with a few cut up veges in it. Very tough honey chicken, tasteless Mongolian beef, steamed veges were ok, sweet and sour pork was surprisingly delicious- but was not enough to feed the 10 people on our table. Dessert was a small piece of cheesecake frozen solid. Tea and coffee was help yourself. Next night was either crumbed chicken, chips and salad or fried fish, chips and salad. We wrote out choices on paper during the day and the kitchen staff had 5 hours to prepare the meals. When dinner was served one lady on my table didn’t get her meal. There was an argument with the staff about how many fish and chips meals were ordered and a head count and heated discussion in Chinese went on for an hour! We argued that all they had to do was check the paper we all wrote our choices on to clarify who ordered what. My friend finally got her food after waiting and arguing for an hour about what she chose. Chicken and fried fish, chips and salad were ok but the arguments and wait really made the night miserable. Again frozen cheesecake was served. The third night we had had enough of this restaurant so 4 of us in our tour group went elsewhere for dinner (even though we had a meal pre paid here we were willing to pay for a second meal somewhere else) Thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Palace Holel around the corner- see review. Bottom line - you get what you pay for. This motel is cheap so don’t expect too much.

Excellent
We stayed at the Gateway Motor Inn in Broken Hill for 7 nights in a Queen Room which was very spacious, complete with 2 seater lounge, table and chairs, microwave, toaster, tea making facilities and crockery and eating utensils. The spaciousness, comfortable bed and facilities made our stay very enjoyable, and the pool during the hot weather was very welcome! The Motel is only about 10 minutes drive to the centre of town and is close to shops, and very quiet, set back from the road. The Owners look after the property very well and are very friendly and helpful.
My husband & I stayed here the night in our motor home. The receptionist,Devon could not have been more helpful especially with the washing machine 😉 The park is neat & tidy, amenities are clean & hot water showers were wonderful. Close to town and has great views. Would highly recommend staying here while visiting Broken Hill.
