Returned for a mini retreat after 2 years and it was just just as good. Very clean, staff lovely, restaurant reasonably priced and doing well post COVID. Quiet and comfy bed. Beautiful garden setting and the roses were blooming. Value for money. Will definitely stay again.
Finally, someone has woken up to the fact that seniors don't like their schnitzels dumped onto chips and then covered in gravy! Mine was a beautiful meal, the best Chicken Schnitzel I have ever had, no kidding - beautifully crumbed, golden, juicy and sweet. Chips and salad to the side on a large plate, not piled together on a small plate, meant to point out that we are second-class citizens paying less than the rest of the crowd! The garlic bread that came with the two-course meal was gorgeous and I devotedly shared this with Himself Outdoors as I knew it would be too much for me to eat. You must try this and with the cheese added it only costs $3. Extremely friendly staff - and our table was in a little alcove which was great - away from the ”madding crowd”. There is ample parking around the back of the hotel if you can't find a spot at the front - I highly recommend this Bistro for a quick and great value meal if you are passing through Mornington.
I'm sure many potential holiday makers have driven past Norwood House Receptions and either not noticed it, or considered it a reception venue only. That is their loss. Behind the reception area is a motel block respendant with collonade along the front making an impressive first impression. Don't get me wrong, some maintenance work needs to be done but the bones of the facility are all good, and the new owners know what needs to be done. Inside however the room was excellent, with a king bed and a king single, the most comfortable since my favoured Sheraton Hotel beds. The room was spotless and the price affordable. Special mention must go to the manager, Laurie, who went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. Important after day surgery at a nearby private hospital. Opt for one of his home cooked breakfasts for a special treat. We randomly chose to stay here due to its convenient location, close to all that Mornington offers. Our random choice turned out to be first prize in the lucky dip. We look forward to returning in coming months and to see the new owners plans develop into fruition.

I paid $140 for a room with 2 singles and 1 double bed (family suite) We had room 1 which was the closest to the very busy highway. Pros None. Cons Where do I begin.... I have stayed in plenty of modest hotels and enjoyed my stay but this place is just a joke. Modest should not mean filthy ! I slept in one of the single beds and it was so saggy in the middle that it was like sleeping in a wheelbarrow. Springs were poking out and it was probably the most uncomfortable night I have endured... ever ! The room was disgusting as you can see in the attached photos. The chairs and carpets were stained and the bathroom tiles were covered in mould. The windows were dirty and the window sills had three dead flies on them. The fly screen was damaged and the winder ,window and screen were covered in dirt and grime - filthy ! The ”welcome” mat was damaged and worn and was surrounded by ciggie buts, dirt and leaves. The ash tray hadn't been emptied and had several buts in it. The couple next door had a 20 minute shower at 3 in the morning and the noise was unbelievable The traffic noise from the highway was so bad that even ear plugs didn't help to block it. I just can't believe the glowing reviews of this motel especially the ones saying it was spotless ( my photos prove otherwise) and at $140 per night I feel totally ripped off and we couldn't wait to leave. Buyer beware !
Rooms are $200+ a night at the moment for a very basic motel room below a pub.... In Frankston... You can get decent rooms in the Melbourne CBD for that price. Rooms have been renovated in the past few years which is nice but grouting in the bathroom isn't clean and is getting scungy. Outlook from window is over the carpark and a muddy river - no privacy if you want to leave the blinds open to let natural light in. The noise coming into the rooms is terrible - can hear everything going on in the corridor and everything happening in the carpark. Even worse is the constant scraping noise from chairs on the ceiling in the pub above (though this seems to mostly stop by about 10pm). Missing some of the little details such as only one towel and 1 drink for a two person/two bed room. Beds are firm but comfortable. On the plus side - location is fantastic if you need to be in Frankston - short walk to beach, loads of pubs, food options and shops just across the road. Free parking is plentiful (but not secure at all), free minibar is a nice touch and room service from pub upstairs is useful. Probably wouldn't consider staying here again unless the prices are lowered. Totally ok for a one night visit, if you can deal with the noise.
The double room written on the details page is a 3-meter large bed, and the twin room is two 1.3-meter beds. Please note! When I filled in my preferences after booking, I chose a twin room, but when I checked in, the hotel said it had not received any information that I wanted a twin room. They had reserved a double room for me if I needed a twin room. , they can go to the room and help me separate the two beds. The hotel said that the double room is a 2-meter large bed, which means that the twin room is two 1-meter beds.
In addition, the entrance to the parking lot is behind the hotel. There is a sign at the entrance, but it is recommended to call in advance to reserve a parking space. It is 35 dollars per night.
