Life can get pretty hectic – with six kids and a busy architectural practice, we completely understand the need to escape and recharge every now and then. That’s exactly what we found in Wooli. From the moment we discovered it, we were amazed – peaceful, relaxed, and family-friendly, even during school holidays! Peak hour traffic here? Just two fishing boats gently cruising down the river. When we first visited, we struggled to find accommodation that was both comfortable and well-equipped. Many places were charming but outdated – no air-conditioning, uncomfortable beds, and tired old cottages. So in 2004, we were lucky enough to find the perfect property. Right on the peninsula between the river and the sea – but crucially, not facing the ocean. Anyone who’s been woken up by the blinding glare of the morning sun knows how important that is! And in the evenings, oceanfront properties often get too windy to enjoy outdoor dining or relaxing on the deck. We wanted to be close enough to the beach to fall asleep to the sound of the waves – but with the added bonus of river views and protection from the elements. Our spot ticks every box: just a two-minute stroll to the beach (if you’re walking slowly!) and a beautiful outlook over the river. Since then, we’ve transformed the property into modern, stylish holiday accommodation that offers all the comfort and convenience you’d expect.
