The manager Marco Abdo de Freitas studied management at New York's Ivy League Columbia University, which shows in his excellent management of the pousada. There is an exquisite attention to detail. The staff are not only friendly and highly cooperative, but they also all share a genuine concern for their guests. The rooms are clean and large with a nice bathroom and shower. Ouro Preto is a city of history and the Pousada Arcanjo reflects the city's amazing history. The hotel is comfortable and tastefully decorated in a historic style. The hotel is within walking distance of the town's main square, but there is also a shuttle bus that will drop you off at the main square and pick you up after a day of walking Ouro Preto's steep hills. The hotel is a great place to have a well made cocktail, but also a great place to have a dinner. The breakfast is super with an amazing variety of fresh fruits and local cheeses. Some hotels in the city center can be noisy, but one of the things we loved about the pousada is how peaceful it is at night. The bed was huge and very comfortable. As if all this was not enough, when the taxi was late coming to pick us up for the airport, the owner himself, concerned for our well-being, dropped us off himself. As New Yorkers who once ran a bed and breakfast, we can assure you that this is a quiet, clean and charming place to stay.
