Excellent! My wife and I checked into the ”Hotel am Markt” on April 23rd/24th, 2022 for a short trip with friends. Check-in was absolutely smooth and quick, the staff at the reception on the 4th floor were very nice and accommodating. Our room (208) was very nice with a direct view of the Karlsruhe market square (pyramid). Thanks to the high-quality curtains, the windows could be completely darkened, which prevented us from waking up early in the daylight. The bathroom was also sparkling clean! So no signs of mold or other discoloration, which are often found in hotels there. Since the hotel is in a pedestrian zone, you can park in the ”Schloßplatz” parking garage, which is a three-minute walk away, for a reasonable 8 euros per day. The hotel also impresses with its central location, so that everything you need in Karlsruhe can be reached on foot within a short time. If someone misses the breakfast offered by the hotel, there is a bakery right next to the entrance. New for us was a self-check-in machine at the entrance, which we did not need due to our online booking. ********************************************* Edit: We made good on our threat on June 18th, 2022 and stayed at the Hotel am Markt again. Here, too, checking in was absolutely problem-free and the receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. This time our room was 204, which faced Karl-Friedrich-Straße. Once again, the room was in perfect and clean condition. Due to the summer temperatures, a column fan was also provided in the room, which we saw as a nice service. All in all, our impression of the Hotel am Markt was confirmed again. ********************************************* Repeat offender: We stayed at the Hotel am Park again on February 24th/25th, 2024. Booked in advance online, this time we checked in and paid using the machine at the entrance. Based on our experience from last time, we deliberately chose a room facing the ”inner courtyard” for a small surcharge. Our room (this time 211) had a large and bright bathroom.

Every time we pass through Karlsruhe we stay here - the atmosphere is great, staff are wonderful, breakfast is included and many other perks for free (that other hotels have since long stopped providing), fantastic rooms, and even jogging route suggestions. And then the location - so central, easy parking and great shopping, walks and eating possibilities just on your doorstep. Warmly recommended!

The hotel is fine, most importantly the air conditioning worked well as it was really hot over summer. The location was good, across from the train station and an easy walk into town. The thing that undermined our stay was the not funny joke to promise a free gift for booking direct then insulting guests with a SINGLE cheap drink voucher that can be used for two people to SHARE a SINGLE coffee or small pilzner!!! Two people stayed for 4 days and got a drink card for one crappy drink? We didn’t bother to use it as it was worthless and pathetic. Considering we would have got 4 stamps toward a free night when collecting 10 stamps on ********** I lost the equivalent of 50 Euros booking direct.

The hotel has its own home deep garage, which is closed at night, but to be opened to guests with the key card. Otherwise, there are also enough free parking spaces at the hotel. The hotel has 4 floors and an elevator from deep garage. The check-in is quick and easy. There is a snack machine in the hotel lobby with sweets and cold drinks. The rooms are nicely furnished, clean, have air conditioning, WiFi and TV. The bathroom is small but offers everything you need. Towels, body, hand and hair shampoo, cosmetic towels, as well as a hairdryer. Here is only a shortage: the bathroom deduction works very badly, which is already very unpleasant when a room is located from 2 people. We missed a refrigerator, but here too, you have to pay attention to the price-performance ratio and make departures at luxury. Breakfast buffet is in order. I would like to give a tip: since the hotel is just on a highly driven street, it is advisable to book a room backwards, there is nothing to get from street noise. I would book it again at any time.

The hotel is in the city, yet at the same time relatively fast to drive up to from the highway on our way to north Italy. The hotel has its own garage for which you can reserve a spot (reserve, then go into the reception to ask which spot has been allocated to you), which makes it ideal when traveling. Note however that it is not big or spacious, so when parking with a big car, you need balls of steel. We stayed here on our way to and coming back. On our way to, we were surprised with an upgrade to the penthouse apartment, which is amazing! It's at the end of the corridor, with a small private terrace, and nice view over the city. It's decorated in an Asian style, with a lovely round couch to hang on, a big bathroom with a large rain shower, plenty of cupboard space, and coffee corner. The bed was huge and had a handy cushioned bench at its foot end, which we used to put our suitcase on . It was a shame we were only stayed one night and that it was pouring down, otherwise we would have sat outside and just enjoyed the atmosphere. Having said that, we enjoyed hanging in the room after dinner. We noticed that next to the penthouse, there is also a terrace and room for meetings (sign me up for those!), which companies I guess can rent. On the way back, we had a regular room on the first floor, which is still sizeable and as comfortable as we have gotten accustomed from the hotel. One of the other reasons we stay here on our way to Italy and back, is the breakfast. In fact, my husband talks about it while we're driving. Because it is so elaborate and welcoming, it just gives you the holiday feeling. You can make pots of tea with really nice tea, you can also order proper coffee (espresso machine) with oatmilk (Hafermilch), they have a wide range of warm breakfast food (scrambled or boiled eggs, bacon, sausages, and my favourite: pancakes), as well as a wide array of cheeses, meats, smoked salmon, and a home-made chia diary glass. The only thing I'm missing is brezels (though they do have little buns made of the same type of dough. And a nice touch: on the mirror at the end of the breakfast room, they list the team for breakfast, which I feel is such a nice, personal touch. The hotel bar is quite a hot spot, we have noticed. Unfortunately we always have to drive the next day so never make it there, however, because of the hotel, we are considering a longer stay in Karlsruhe on one of our trips.

I was a bit concerned about my booking as there are one out two negative comments about this place but soon after I arrived I realised that those, like mine are personal opinions. I was pleasantly surprised by my stay, the room was very spacious and the bathroom was perfectly compact. Within 5 minutes of being inside the room I heard the first tram.. my first thought was, “Great!! No sleep!” - how wrong was I, when it was finally time for me to go to sleep I found myself out cold and most likely snoring. I had an absolutely amazing sleep, that bed was so comfortable! Next morning I woke fully refreshed and to the sound of a tram. Now for the compact bathroom…. Had everything I needed… great shower and you can probably work the rest out for yourself! Breakfast was on the same floor and seemed to be miles away, I didn’t appreciate the size of the hotel! Breakfast was great, fresh buffet which was well stocked, tasty.. in fact I made 2 visits to the buffet. Coffee came out of a machine and very nice also! Everything about my stay was very good, it was my first time to Karlsruhe, but have drive past it so many times. One of two minor issues experienced… hair dryer not working.. more of an issue for the wife and cosmetically the room was a little tired. Hope to return soon for another stay to explore what Karlsruhe has to offer.

Reception, reception and restaurant looks pretty! Price of the room was also fine. But the room was dirt. Hair on bed and sanitary was not well cleaned. We received a new room offered, but that had the same problem. The next room too, but we just accepted it because it was late. The reason for three stars is for the lady that helped us and it also found it super annoying. That very friendly and guest-oriented lady! Only the hotel must have arranged the base of a hotel!

Vom Ambiente her ein durchschnittliches Mittelklassehotel, aber es gibt ein paar Punkte, die machen das Ambassador besonders: Minibar gratis (4 Getränke pro Tag werden angeboten und aufgefüllt), das Personal ist sehr freundlich (bis auf eine Ausnahme bei Ankunft, aber vielleicht hatte sie einfach einen schlechten Tag, das sei jedem zugestanden). Absolut begeistert hat mich das Frühstücksbuffet. Unbedingt mitbuchen, es lohnt sich. Auch hatten wir ein Balkonzimmer, diese gibt es ohne Aufpreis. Schöne ruhige Lage zum Hinterhof. Die anderen Gäste haben wir nicht gehört, obwohl das Hotel fast ausgebucht zu sein schien (geht man von der Menge an Mitreisenden beim Frühstück aus). Die Parkmöglichkeit für 10€ in der Tiefgarage ist ebenfalls sehr praktisch und günstig. Falls wir noch einmal in Karlsruhe übernachten, dann sicher wieder hier.
