Where do I start with this hotel, myself and my husband booked 7 nights for our anniversary, we were not expecting too much but were still massively disappointed. The hotel has potential to be a really lovely place with amazing views. Unfortunately, our view from our room was a mountain wall with graffiti on. We arrived at reception and whilst waiting to be booked in a guest was there complaining they had mice in their room (AGAIN!!), as you can imagine this wasn't a great first impression. The food was poor quality with little choice, the grill area was far too small for the size of the hotel, the atmosphere was non existent, no music around the pool, and staff were miserable and rude; in fact, a guest decided to play their own music around the pool and was told off by the staff despite it being quiet. I had read previous reviews that hotel staff are rude and I thought well the guests must be rude to them first but trust me, this was not the case here. They are just rude and miserable. The entertainment staff were terrible and only interacted with the Spanish speaking guests. Getting around the hotel is incredibly difficult as there are so many steps so anyone with mobility issues should definitely avoid. Fortunately, this isn't our situation, however, we still struggled with the sheer volume of steps. We spoke to people who did have limited mobility and they had been put on 6th floor even though they had paid and requested to be on the ground floor. Our room was only cleaned once throughout our entire stay and we had to ask for fresh towels, the bathroom was not cleaned at all. We also had glass on the floor upon arrival, presumably from previous guests that had not been cleaned properly. The hotel apparently used to be two hotels that they have recently merged into one, which makes sense as it is very disjointed, it took us 20 minutes to find our room as its so big and poorly signed, with no help from staff. This hotel is supposed to be a 4 star however, I am utterly perplexed as to how this has been rated so highly. Definitely would not come back, very disappointed.

I wrote a glowing report of Salobre in April, so I’m slightly disappointed having to write about our niggles this time round. We booked directly through the hotel including our flights and taxi transfer. I’m now assuming this is via an external company rather than the actual front desk of the hotel. We arrived and the room wasn’t ready which is fair enough but we were kind of hoping it would be ready as everything was booked directly through the hotel website so we assumed they’d know our arrival time. On the website once you’ve booked you have the opportunity to choose your room. Having been before we knew that the 9th and 11th floor had the best views, so we chose a room - 1136 with a king sized bed on the side near the top floor pool as it’s easier to get to from that side. A few days after choosing the room we had an email to confirm it was ours, there is a small print that states if they can’t honour this then you will be given a room exactly the same. Our bags were just left in the lobby area, again our assumption was like other hotels they’d be put in a room out of sight but no. We were telephoned when our room was ready after been given 1138 rather than 1136 upon check in but were assured it was a better room and had a king sized bed. We get to the room and the keycard didn’t work. So back we go all the way down again (which is a long way from the top floor), eventually get it sorted and open the door to find it is one half of a junior suite (the rooms with connecting doors) and two single beds pushed together. Nothing resembling what I’d asked for at all. So the policy of giving you exactly the same as requested fell down here. Back to reception again, where I spoke to the reception manager who initially was unhelpful and said she’d get the bed sorted into a king by putting a sheet over it- I had to argue the point that this is does not make a king sized bed and that type of arrangement is not comfortable. It was only when I said I’d stayed before did she seem to then want to rectify the situation. She offered another room but on the other side looking at the building work. I accepted this as we really didn’t want a room with 2 single beds. Although it was disappointing, as it made getting to the top floor harder due to the hotel layout. It just felt like the hotel had no idea we had ever stayed before, I assumed booking directly with the hotel would make things more special somehow. We were given a free day on the Balinese beds for our ‘loyal’ custom after the room fiasco but we didn’t use it in the end. We ended up being locked out as the app wouldn’t open the door as it’s supposed to. My husband had to go dripping wet down to reception in his trunks/towel. The door key on the app didn’t work allt all on two separate phones. This all happened on our first day, my husband was really annoyed so went to speak to Eva the guest experience manager at her table in the lobby but she’d gone for the day by the time he went down. I've stayed here many times - last time in september 2022. The staff at the reception are so lovely, and always give me a warm welcome and are otherwise very helpful. Early check-in, late check-out, room allocation, cant fault it - its usually no problem (depending on capasity of course). Stayed 2 nights this time, shortly after going to my room i got a lovely surprise delivered to the room. It was very much appreciated! Breakfast is wonderful, with everything you could desire. Staff there and in the pool bar was nice and helpful (minus one time at the pool bar, waited and did not get served). Im coming back in July this year, and cant wait!
