I was staying alone for business. The hotel had a high rating but to be honest I don’t know why. When you check in there is a terrible Smokey/dirty smell coming from the bar area. This was a bad start. I was told at check-in that even though my confirmation stated bed and breakfast that I needed to pay for breakfast. Obviously I didn’t bother. The room was ok but nothing special. No real lighting in the room and the AC was only noise. Even though I was on the top floor it was very noisy from the outside bar area. Having stayed extensively in this area can tell you there are a lot better hotels for a lot less money. I won’t be staying again.

We are going on tourism in inland Gipuzkoa. The hotel is very good, the staff is perfect and since we were tired of the 650 kilometers we stayed for dinner and it was a meal very well deserving of a 9. Why I didn't put EXCELLENT = It's a bit complicated to find it and if you add that THERE IS NO NOT ONE LIT SIGN even more... because we passed by 5 times without seeing it. Lastly, thanks to Ms. Edurne (I think it was her or Ms. Arantxa) who didn't guide us on her mobile and waited for us at the door. It was very kind and unusual to find such a person. If they turn on the light I will recommend it, many times even more. Only one small fault, the breakfast is very fair in terms of assortment. In any case, thank you very much and if you come here again, we will surely visit you again. Thank you, you made our evening very pleasant. Regards Pep

This was our first trip to Madrid and the northern cities of Spain so we wanted to take in some of the highlights of the region. Our son and daughter-in-law met us in Donastia San Sebastián and had the wise forethought to spend a night in the Basque countryside resort at this picturesque hotel nestled in the rolling, plush green valley approximately 30 minutes outside the bustling city. The moment we drove through the winding roads of the charming town leading to the inn’s entrance I knew we were in for a delightful treat. Despite a rather greeting from the gentleman at the front desk who checked us in, we were enthralled by the decor of the interior public rooms and each of our spacious guest rooms with breathtaking sights and sounds of the outdoors. Dinner was a most impressive Michelin menu, with palatable and delectable presentations. A small but sufficient and equally tasty breakfast was served the next morning to send us off with warm and wonderful memories of our stay.

Wow! The hotel was a dream, the room was amazing with the most stunning views across the roof tops of the town towards the misty cloud topped mountains in the distance. The hotel manager Inigo was super lovely, really friendly, helpful and so sociable he made the stay in an already perfect setting 5* I can recommend eating at the hotel one night rather than always venturing out it was really lovely and the birthday cake with candle & the whole restaurant singing to my best friend made his night. The grounds are kept beautifully and as an eco site surrounded by fruit trees, a really lovely place to enjoy a glass of wine ( which the manager Inigo made some excellent suggestions of) and to sit back and just enjoy the breathtaking scenery. All of the hotel staff were lovely without exception ( quite rare). Recommend the drive to Donostia ( San Sebastián) lovely day out, also to Bilbao for the Guggenheim Museum but coming back to this gem nestled in the foot hills is what made it special

We stayed on the top floor for a 3 night stay with our 3 year old son. Large Super King size bed with a fold-out next to it for our son, plenty of room for luggage. Room was modern and clean, beds were comfy, A/C effective, and bathroom spacious and contemporary (shower only, no bath). Our flight was delayed such that our arrival was past the last check-in time, and the staff were very accommodating, providing us a PIN code and room number via Whatsapp for night-time access. There is a nice lobby meeting area on the ground floor of the hotel for guests, and the restaurant is also on the ground floor accessed via exiting the building. Breakfast was not included but a worthwhile extra and reasonably priced. Dinner at the restaurant was great, especially the sirloin steak and croquetas - albeit non-Spanish speakers should note the servers did no speak English, and the service was good but at a typically Spanish pace. All-in-all a very nice stay and would happily recommend and stay again.

PPhilip EBeautifully appointed hotel in the old town with fabulous views over the bay. The roof terrace is a treasure, what a place to enjoy a late afternoon drink and watch the sunset! The staff were all very good - everything was made to feel effortless and we had a very relaxed stay at the hotel. Breakfasts were excellent and hats off to the team - they were so organised and friendly - just like being in the best pintxo bar in the old town! Only feedback for future guests is that you can't sleep with your window open due to the all night noise in the old town - the rooms have excellent windows and block the noise but you need the aircon (we don't like aircon so we didn't sleep as well as we're used to as a result - I can't fault the hotel in any way but just feedback for others.)

GGuest UserThis was our first trip to Madrid and the northern cities of Spain so we wanted to take in some of the highlights of the region. Our son and daughter-in-law met us in Donastia San Sebastián and had the wise forethought to spend a night in the Basque countryside resort at this picturesque hotel nestled in the rolling, plush green valley approximately 30 minutes outside the bustling city. The moment we drove through the winding roads of the charming town leading to the inn’s entrance I knew we were in for a delightful treat. Despite a rather greeting from the gentleman at the front desk who checked us in, we were enthralled by the decor of the interior public rooms and each of our spacious guest rooms with breathtaking sights and sounds of the outdoors. Dinner was a most impressive Michelin menu, with palatable and delectable presentations. A small but sufficient and equally tasty breakfast was served the next morning to send us off with warm and wonderful memories of our stay.

Des del primer momento, Rony se ha mostrado atento y muy servicial. La Pensión Gurtxu está en pleno casco antiguo. Lo mejor es que se encuentra en una calle con pocos bares, donde no hay aglomeraciones por las noches. Hemos dormido sin ruido, además los cierres de las ventanas son nuevos y con doble cristal. La pensión se trata de un segundo piso con ascensor. Esta super limpia, reformada, ordenada y en cada habitación hay agua, cafetera, tazas, 2 toallas por persona, nórdico, televisión, espejo... Las camas son cómodas. En total hay 3 habitaciones, cada habitación con su llave. El baño es compartido, pero no hemos tenido problemas de espera para usarlo. Esta muy limpio y reformado. Puedes encontrar mapas y además Rony te manda un WhatsApp con recomendaciones gastronómicas muy acertadas. Gurtxu es espacio muy cogedor dónde voy a quedarme cuando vuelva a San Sebastián. Service is just fantastic, everyone was nice with us and welling to help if we asked for something. the Snack bar (cafeteria) staff is the best of the best, as well as the housekeeping staff. The only bad thing was the AC, we have no idea if it was ”warm” because the new ordinance or because something else, but unfortunately the hotel's location is so close to a highway, the room was quiet and good, but we try to sleep a little bit cooler, and with the window open was just imposible

The town is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel - the route is fairly steep but manageable. Would not hesitate to use this hotel for our base once again. Two nights in Donostia San Sebastián with a guided walking tour booked for our full day in the town. The hotel is really comfortable and the staff are all truly lovely. Our room had everything we would want but like so many Spanish hotels they don’t provide tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We travel extensively in Spain and bring an aero press coffee maker, its small and convenient for travel. We have a small travel kettle and bring coffee. Milk is more challenging now as since Brexit milk and milk products cannot be brought in but that can be addressed with a bit of planning. That said, breakfast starts at 07:30 and the coffee from the machine is actually OK. A good selection of breakfast choices including bacon and eggs. What we do like about this hotel is the staff. All are friendly and smile all day long. The young girl at the bar was really friendly and we felt welcomed and comfortable. Plenty of comfortable seating in the bar area and food can be obtained via the bar menu. We however chose the restaurant both evenings and were so so impressed. Our food was excellent and we were looked after both nights by two different but equally attentive, professional staff. I didn’t get the name of the waiter on Tuesday night but he was delightful. Thursday we chose the tasting menu and so glad we did. Every single dish was superb. A special mention to Irina ( Irene?) who served us. The restaurant was really busy and she was on her own waiting on tables. She was friendly, charming and helpful even though under pressure due to the volume of diners. She did a fantastic job. The food here is some of the best hotel food we have had. All food and drink is on a pay at the point of use, no putting it on the room but for us that worked really well as the room was prepaid so checkout was quick and easy. Just leave the key in the box and go. WiFi is excellent. If you are driving there is parking in front of the hotel but not enough spaces if the hotel is full. There is parking opposite. The hotel is situated on a hill, and I mean a hill!!!! The walk into town took about 25 minutes. We discovered the taxi rank right by the bandstand near the seafront and it was only €8 to get a ride back up the hill. If you are visiting the town you will have a comfortable welcoming stay here but come thinking “ taxi” to get back.

The location is great, with a regular air conditioned bus every 20 mins. The staff were very friendly, and the facilities were all new. The swimming pool was good, and the bar / restaurant. The busy road is closed off by a newish fence so wasn’t concerned about the children’s safety. My only negatives were that the pitches were very small, could just fit our caravan and awning on, but there is a car park just across the road (less than 1 minutes walk). The other negative was the cockerel that started about 3am, however if we turned our fans on in caravan this would cover the noise up. In summary, we would definitely stay here again, San Sebastián was amazing and felt like Rio de Janerio, spot on beaches and good surf, the kids played all day. Because the site is so close you have to expect it to have small pitches, and they can’t help it if neighbours keep animals. I think a lot of the buildings seemed to be recently refurbished too, it was all good.

AAnonymous UserI stayed at the Sercotel Hotel in Barcelona last year, so I chose the Sercotel Hotel in San Sebastian this time. The location was very convenient as it was within walking distance from the San Sebastian bus terminal, and it was also convenient for sightseeing and about a 10 minute walk to the old town. (Concha Bay is also nearby! Perfect for getting up early in the morning and walking.) It's quiet because it doesn't face the main road. The hotel is an old building, so it can't be helped, but the sound of doors opening and footsteps from the next room could be heard quite a bit. Also, the floor was tilted (lol) The room itself was clean and comfortable. There was no free bottled water or amenities (toothbrushes, gowns, brushes, slippers, etc.). The hot water and water pressure in the shower were good. The bathtub was filled with hot water quickly. I didn't eat breakfast, but it seemed like you could eat it on the same day for around 14€. This is a hotel I would like to stay at again when I come to San Sebastian again.
