Decided to have a week in the sun and stayed for a week at the Mynd Yaiza. It is well positioned in Costa Blanca. Our room was clean with a good shower. As has been mentioned in other reviews the door to the toilet is opaque. No idea why the hotel thought this was a good idea. Obviously the designer didn’t understand that some things human beings like to do in private. The television was Spanish only, with the hotel expecting guests to link their subscription channels from their phone to the TV. We have no subscriptions so this wasn’t possible for us. While watching TV on holiday didn’t bother us we would usually have expected access to a news channel when abroad eg CNN, sky news or BBC news. Breakfast was good but evening meals were a bit monotonous. Perhaps they could have done themed evenings eg Spanish night, Italian night etc. to make them more interesting The surroundings were spotlessly clean the pool was heated. Appreciated a water bottle filling point. Sadly reception staff were unaware and told us they didn’t fill water bottles! Many people we listened to were very confused about the credit system, this wasn’t a problem for us , but I think an old fashioned guest information book in the rooms would hep.

The complex is well set out and about 800 metres from the nearest beach, shops and restaurants. Reception will call a taxi into town and it is only 3 ~ 4 euro. The two outdoor pools have plenty of loungers and a pool bar. Very loud music throughout the day so don’t expect a relaxing sunbathe. There is an indoor pool and gym for over 18s. This could do with a little tlc. The water features and jacuzzi are out of order at present. The mini market is well stocked and competitively priced. Fresh bread every day. Happy hour is 1200 to 1300 and 1800 to 1900. Some drinks are excluded from the offer such as wine and some spirits. The barman disappears sometimes in the evening without explanation! The pathways and public areas could do with more regular cleaning and the pool bar area is a bit scruffy, considering it is the main drinking place. The poolside bins are often overflowing and the litter blows about. All the glass needs cleaning. Our one bed apartment is perfectly fine, with regular cleaning and linen changes. It looks recently decorated and is very comfortable. No complaint at all. A budget complex that is popular with families and older visitors alike. The reception staff are lovely and will help in any way.
Just returned from a week staying at The Elba Hotel, Lanzarote. Good location for an easy stroll to the beach and promenade where you will find a few shops and bars/restaurants. Hotel looks grand as you enter, check in did take some time on arrival. The apartment we stayed in was well maintained, the cleaning of our room happened very late each day, approx 3pm sometimes that was frustrating if you fancied coming back and wanting shower after being at the pool for a few hours, not feeling able to shower in case she happened to arrive at that point. One day the cleaner must have forgot our room as it wasn’t done at all. The pools are split into three seperate ones, two very cold and one warmish, we were the only two who seemed to use the two colder pools so it was nice, probably because it was a quiet time of the year. They had activities going on around the pool at times, adults aqua aerobics and then kids dancing so can be quite noisy on and off. I am aware there is an adults only area on site, we didn’t use that but if you want peace and quiet that is probably where to go. The pool and surrounding areas are well kept and look appealing. Main restaurant, this really was the thing that I find fault with. The layout is not thought out, in the morning you go to one area for a cup, another for the drink machine, right over other side for milk, round the corner for a tea bag. Spoons over another side. Just stupid little things like that that really let the place down, the amount of times I heard people asking where things were, layout doesn’t make any sense. Tables were rarely re-set for ages when people left so often you end up having to find a knife and fork and napkin from the cleaning area and lay the table yourself. In the evening you can be waiting ages to be offered a drink. Think I’ve been spoilt from previous hotels I’ve stayed in, where the restaurant staff are extremely attentive and ensure that you get a seat at a table that has cutlery and is set. Just seems that they could do with a good restaurant manager to organise the layout and the staff, as it really lets the hotel down. This was a relatively quiet time of the year so i can’t imagine what it is like during busier seasons. Food was average, had nicer in other hotels I’ve stayed in.
The room itself was actually quite nice & had clearly just had a refurb, albeit quite small but very functional. The gardens were well kept & the pool area was very pleasant too. This was all let down by the lack of amenities. The reception opened 9-5pm & the pool bar was advertised as 10-5pm, (you were lucky if she was there for 12). One day I tried to get a coffee just before 4pm, but she was closing up & refused. The same happened the next day too. I appreciate it was New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day, but it just wasn’t very good. The pool bar was clearly owned by the sports bar next door as she would often leave the pool bar unattended to retrieve food from the sports bar or go down there to serve when they were busy. The sports bar was very good & had a good menu, but you could not purchase most items at the pool bar. There was a polite notice in the pool area asking you not to consume your own food & drink in that area too, despite all the above. The supermarket next door was little more than a shop selling out of date cereal,(march 2024) which opened 11-6pm & didn’t open at all on New Year’s Day. There was a massage on site. When we tried to book treatments on the 2nd January, we were told she was closed as she’d been sacked & the lady gave us a card of her new premises, 45mins walk away. When we tried to complain to reception, all we were told was,”it’s not us”. In a nutshell our new year break was totally let down by the lack of amenities especially due to the location being so far away from civilisation. We paid just under £3,000 for a 6 day break too. Luckily the weather was kind to us.
Very enjoyable stay a 10 min. walk from the beach and shopping promenade. The staff were friendly and the food choices were good with a relaxed and unpretentious vibe. We stayed in a Deluxe Suite which has a quieter pool (with a lifeguard) and more private sunbathing options but you also have the option to use the larger pool areas and bar there with daily entertainment. The only reason for 4 stars is the room was a little stark although perfectly clean and there was a busy road right by the private pool area with the inevitable traffic noise which spoiled the chilled vibe you want on holiday (although the hotel have tried to combat this issue with screening and playing music throughout the day but it's still there in the background.)
This is a really lovely hotel, positioned on the eastern side of Playa Blanca and very convenient for the beautiful beaches at Papagayo and for main roads to other parts of the island. It's around 15 minutes walk to the town centre by the main road or (best route) along the prom from Playa Dorada and there are supermarkets nearby. The site is well laid out and planted with mature ficus and palm trees (at dusk every day tiny birds came to sing in the tree overhanging my balcony). The rooms are large, unfussy and spotlessly clean and have private terraces or balconies. The are staff mostly very friendly, particularly the younger receptionists who are excellent - and trilingual in French, Spanish and English. Other reviews mentioned the noise from the entertainment, so I sent a message to the hotel asking for a quiet room. I was placed in the 'Zen Zone', on the first floor away from the busy areas overlooking the quieter of the two pools and was very happy. The entertainment ends by 23:00 in any case. One review mentions holiday reps 'coming round' but I was left entirely alone and nobody came to the door during my stay except the lovely housekeeping team. The hotel is very popular with French families (no Brits at all) and the atmosphere is very friendly and civilised. No loud room parties or drunken staggering about late at night. friendly. There is a smart cafeteria serving meals on site but I booked room-only through Zen Hotels and got a very good rate. There's a kettle and fridge in the room and lots of great places to eat catering for all tastes in and around Playa Blanca. I hired a car from Payless and they delivered and collected the car to/from the hotel. The weather wasn't entirely brilliant during my stay but I was happy to be at the hotel or driving around the island sight-seeing. Will definitely return to the Royal.

Excellent
A truly luxurious break away -from our arrival in the hotels grand foyer being greeted by a charming doorman and delightful reception staff! Then greeted by the customer relations staff prior to being escorted to our room/suite! The room was so spacious and spotlessly clean! A welcome gift was promptly delivered by the housekeeper-a beach/tote bag with flip flops and beach towels! I had informed the hotel of this being my big 60th bday this year and voila -a birthday cake and decorations were left in the room for me with a lovely note! We had breakfast every morning in the beautiful outside terrace a la carte restaurant and this was a lovely start to each day!Peaceful looking out to sea! The food was perfect and lots of choice! I could go on and on -but there s hotel is a real luxurious treat in the Sunshine!
GGuest UserWe had a nice clean appartement which was very spacious. The bed is really good, very soft and we slept like babies. Bathroom was nothing special but clean which is the most important thing. Breakfast is a bit on the expensive side. (8,- for 2 small orange juice). The staff was friendly. We would’ve liked to stay longer but unfortunately it was fully booked. The only downside was the 100,- borg that has to be payed with creditcard as we didn’t have one but we got the appartement anyway. I recommended this place to others if they’re looking to relaxed without the screams from tourists.
If you read this as a tourist please keep this beautiful island clean and show your respect. (We walked around with an empty bag picking up trash along the road)
