I felt like I was entering an operating room the lights were blinding. Not conducive to fine dining and the prices. The courses came out way too quickly for us. We like to enjoy every bite. The cheese trolley was next to our table. Honestly the strong smell was off putting. The apprentice, Martine, although the was cute and charming, took my plate away while I was still enjoying my first course. My entree was the turbot, a beautiful presentation but tasteless. My tablemates all got the duck. It was good but I’ve never seen duck in a rectangle. Very odd. The amuse bouche was too big - not for small eaters. The slices of bread were at least 1-1/2” thick - not pretty. The desserts were average then we were presented with a tray of sweets that were much better. Not a place we would return. Fine dining prices - not fine dining.

We loved the little cabin in the woods, where it was very quiet with forest views on all sides. The cabin was spacious and had everything we wanted. It was just a few minutes' walk away from the main hotel buildings, and the cabin was fully wheelchair accessible, which we appreciated very much. The grounds around the hotel have lovely flowers, lots of trees and even a small creek running through the area, making for a lovely place to enjoy a quiet stroll. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome right away. The hotel buildings have ramps to allow wheelchair access to the dining and bar areas. The ”La Closerie Restaurant” offered a very good menu and choice of wines. The food was excellent and we really enjoyed the view from the restaurant of the courtyard gardens. The service in the restaurant was excellent and we were well taken care of. We were also delighted to find a very good piano in the dining room which my wife was welcome to play after dinner. This was an added bonus for us! There is only one negative thing for wheelchair users: The parking is small gravel stones, and the paths to the cabins are just dirt / caliche, so not as wheelchair friendly as we would have liked. However, in spite of this disadvantage, this is definitely a place we will come back for a longer stay!

On the 15th May, 2024 we stayed at the Les Hauts de Loire (@h8collection) -part of the H8 Collection (@leshautsdeloire)- in Veuzain-sur Loire. During our stay our hotel room was broken into and we were robbed. At first the hotel refused to believe us and insisted on searching our car and the room for the items and then going through the security footage of our arrival before taking us seriously and finally investigating the matter. After many hours wasted, security footage showed that a man freely entered the hotel grounds through an unsecured gate next to the public road. He then entered the hotel while no one was at reception. The police and the hotel manager determined that he then entered the unlocked office of the manager and used a key to enter our hotel room and steal many valuable items. The manager admitted this openly to the police. The thief can be seen walking out with all of our items past several staff unchallenged. We lost our credit cards, passports and a number of luxury items that totaled over 24,000 euros. We had to rush back to Paris to get new passports, cancel all of our cards. Under French Civil Code this means the hotel was clearly negligent and therefore liable for our losses. However, the hotel’s response was pathetic. The H8 Collection @h8collection has refused to provide full compensation for our losses and instead hid behind their insurance company to deny our claim despite us spending considerable time providing proof of ownership and evidence of our losses. This was all ignored and the hotel insisted on receipts for items purchased more than 10 years ago - an impossible task that they knew would allow them to deny compensation. Afterwards the Director of H8 Collection stopped replying to our emails and ghosted us. We were left with no choice but to sue. To anyone reading this, DO NOT stay at any H8 Collection Hotel @h8collection or resort. Avoid H8 Collection @h8collection entirely. They simply do not care about their guests. While H8 Collection @h8collection, claims to be a high-end establishment, it is nothing of the sort. When we arrived the place looked like we were in the wrong part of town. There is a private parking garage which is accessible from the back of the hotel on foot but on a bike the entrance is a bit steep if you need to press the button to call the reception for access. The room was rather small and the bar was in the reception area. Staff were friendly and breakfast was OK but not as good as we have had in other Ibis. Bit of a walk into town, about 10/15 minutes before you get anywhere on the outskirts. It was our first night on a trip and we felt disappointed.l
