Stayed at invercarse for 16 days had an excellent time as per usual the staff are so nice and efficient nothing is to much trouble them the food is good and the buffet breakfast is well maintained and is always refilled the bar prices are very good for a hotel as you can pay more for pint of lager on you local pub nowadays Sean and Paul have made a good job of this hoteland there staff are second to none well done to all involved your the best
We stayed in a private, double room, sharing bathroom facilities. The room was clean and spacious, with a comfy bed and a working radiator we were able to adjust. There was no TV, but good WiFi in the room. There are lots of bathrooms in the building, so that was not a problem either, and they were always clean and well-stocked with loo roll. The location is excellent - in Dundee centre, and we had a view looking on to the high street. It's in walking distance from the bus and train station. The only annoying thing was the kitchen: there were always 3 or 4 people in there, whatever time we went in, and almost always people who live and work at the hostel, rather than guests. This meant they were cooking 'proper meals', rather than simple stuff you'd expect from backpackers or travellers. It also meant we had to wash our pans etc before we ate, in case someone needed them in the meantime. They were international students or older people. It would be better if staff had their own kitchen, as the kitchen isn't big - there's one kettle, one microwave, one toaster. There are two ovens and two cookers, with four hobs each. There are signs up about washing, drying and putting stuff away, but wooden spoons don't 'dry' with a tea towel, so they are damp in the drawers. If they cannot make a separate kitchen for staff, I'd suggest adding some simple appliances to one of the many sitting rooms, such as a kettle, toaster and microwave, so at least you could grab breakfast quickly without awkwardly working around everyone in the kitchen.

A lovely building, and free on street parking, my room had a view of the sea. Its in a really quiet area of Dundee. The bed is really comfy, however some of the walls could do with a clean (coffee stains up them). Breakfast was massive (too big for me) and not really Scottish, no haggis, no black pudding compared to other Scottish breakfasts - I personally would prefer a smaller breakfast with better ingredients. Again the table clothes could do with a clean, tea stains on mine. Staff were friendly.
On checking in, we were listed as room only when it was B&B with an email to confirm this. We were allocated room 123 but found it already occupied when we got there, fortunately there was nobody in the room at the time. Reception were apologetic and gave us room 134, a further 2 flights of stairs for my arthritic knees to contend with. When I attempted to iron a shirt, the ironing board completely fell apart and I had to place the board across a chair - I reported it and a replacement was in the room after dinner. We then discovered the TV didn't work 'no signal' came on the screen. I informed Reception the next morning and was assured it would be fixed. Returning to our room after 4pm the TV still was not working and we phoned Reception who sent somebody up after about 20 mins. He was no more successful than us but reassured us that we could watch You Tube if we liked. He gave a ludicrous explanation that the aerial couldn't cope with the demands of all guests TVs and mobile phones. The next morning having washed my hair, I switched on the hair dryer which worked for about 5 seconds then stopped but made some alarming noises so I switched it off to avoid any potentially fatal mishap. On checking out, a half hearted apology was the best the Receptionist could offer. A letter of complaint to the Manager has gone unanswered after 10 days but I'm sure the adverse nature of this review will provoke a response.

Great find in Dundee. Amazing location - right above the train station and opposite the V&A. Bit of noise of boy racers at night, but not for long. The room was big with everything you could need. Breakfast was the cheapest I've ever seen in a hotel and the restaurant was really nicely done. Hubby had a meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. No parking at hotel, but a multi storey 5 minutes walk away that was very reasonable with the 25% discount you get through the hotel (£13 for 2 nights).
Well located close to the main attractions of the city, the hotel is nicely decorated and has a good ambiance. We stayed in a suite on the second floor right at the front/corner of the hotel looking to the train station and Discovery. The suite was very spacious and tastefully decorated with a separate seating area with TV, very large bathroom with double sinks and showers and a freestanding bathtub. The bedroom has a very comfy large bed and a sofa and wardrobe with mini bar etc. It was really nice but with a few things that took off the sheen - such as very creaky floorboards , a standing lamp and ceiling down light that was broken in the bedroom, and three which were broken in the sitting area (the entire ceiling lighting). It was a bit noisy facing onto the main road too but quieter overnight. The restaurant was lovely with delicious food and the bar was good too. All in all for the price paid it was great but staff (who are very friendly) should definitely make sure all lights are working in the rooms. They should nail down those creaky floorboards too!
We met Eddie the night porter we had such a laugh with him a Scottish man who lived in Dublin then dubai and back to dubai very funny man and a apleasure to talk to he left us a note the next morning after our chats with recommendations of where to eat
A converted jute mill is the location for this fabulous hotel & suites. You are greeted by a great ambience and friendly staff. The suite was spacious and well-equipped. The kitchen area was spotless and certainly would enable one to cater for themselves. The bathroom, again spacious, had the best shower.
A comfy bed gave a good night's sleep. Breakfast was a self service affair. The breakfast seating area was light and inviting. Food was tasty and constantly replenished, and the variety of hot drinks was impressive. It was a buffet style but fitted our leisurely approach to the day.
The only fly in the ointment was the parking. There is very limited parking for the hotel (for which you would be charged £12.50) or a short walk away there is local authority run car park which at the pay and display you can pay to park -we paid £6.60, expertly explained by Holly at reception, it maybe needs to be made more clear on the website for clarity.
