We stayed here for one night and would highly recommend it. The manager was personable, welcoming and helpful. The room was pretty compact but all the extra touches made it a really enjoyable stay. Immaculate room and ensuite, lovely decor. On the main road but excellent soundproofing from the road and other rooms. Extra touches made this a really special stay - a coffee machine with plenty of pods and a variety of coffee choices, a variation of tea choices and plenty of milk. Superior toiletries. Lovely comfortable bed. Free parking when staying there and a 10 minute walk into the lovely high street with a variety of restaurants/cafes/pubs. What's not to like? Great value and a lovely night away. All in all, a lovely ambience to the place.

What a Lovely hotel on beautiful grounds! We had our mini honeymoon here. Very clean, staff all friendly and helpful, the spa is lovely, I had two treatments a back massage and a facial both by Samantha who is an amazing therapist it was the best back massage I've ever had! Highly recommend here and this hotel. Only downsides where the jacuzzi is attached to the pool so is cold and the reception that was on the morning of 6.10.24 she was saying to another customer how they where out all night she had a hangover then wasn't going to give me a robe which was included in my stay luckily the therapist that was sat next to her corrected her. Other than those two things w head the best stay 😁

I enjoyed my overnight at the Devil’s Punchbowl. New management is getting to grips with the place. Refurbed reception, bar and dining areas are nicely upgraded and clean cut, while retaining the heritage of what was a roadhouse on the old A3. The road is now bypassed by the tunnel, leaving the hotel on the edge of the Natural Trust conservation area. Service, reception, food all good. The team still needs to get to grips with the handpumped beer (not well kept) and the rooms which are a throwback to the 1980s and need an overhaul. It’ll be interesting to go back in a while and see how they’re getting on. Meanwhile it was comfortable and I felt very at home.

Stayed here for just 1 night for a family occasion. On 1st arriving we were greeted by a wonderful young man (didn't catch his name) with a massive smile & very welcoming manner, who instantly informed us that our room had been upgraded for free!! Result! We were given all info regarding dinner times/breakfast etc & how to use the night entrance (a brilliant idea) if we were to arrive back late. The room (suite) we were led to was absolutely stunning. Very spacious, spotlessly clean & interior design to die for. Everything was so well thought out & if we'd stayed in a Plush hotel in London we wouldn't have had a nicer room I'm sure. Another family member also stayed the night & their room was just as lovely although not quite as big. We headed off out & arrived back later for a couple of drinks in the bar which were once again served by delightful staff with great humour & banter! Breakfast was superb, hearty, healthy & delicious & the whole vibe of the beautiful old building was a total delight to relax in. Most of all though, it was the staff who are the jewel in their crown. Nothing was too much trouble & should we ever be in the area again, we would jump at the chance of staying at this beautiful little gem again. I've always worked in Front of House/ Customer service as thats my passion & very much a dying art in todays society Im afraid to say, but The Swan puts its customers front & centre & practices customer service at it's finest. You could teach some of the big companies a thing or two. We'll done one & all!

Stayed here for a friend's wedding this weekend! Had an apartment for the night. Was very nice and well equipped even had tea, coffee and milk in the fridge which wasn't expected as self catering. Unfortunately didn't sleep very well as bedrooms where so hot. Couldn't get any aircon to work and not sure the rooms even had it in them. Then realised in the morning the towel radiator in the ensuites left on full heat presumably by housekeeping so that didn't help along with the hot weather. Alot of noise of people walking past the apartments in the early hours too and cars reving waking us up! Used the spa facilities in the morning and they were pretty unimpressive too...not very clean and could do with a refurb. Run down and didn't feel very clean and spa like which is a shame as was looking forward to a relaxing spa.

Booked due to attending a friends wedding nearby, my friend paid for early check in due us needing to all get ready for the wedding, the room when we went in smelt musty like it hadn’t been used in a while which is what we put it down to. We got back to the hotel around 12.30am and I was able to collect the key to my booked twin room I was sharing with my friend. We went back to the 1st room to collect our belongings and as we walked in the smell of damp dirty water hit us so much so it made me gag. My friend refused to stay there and even the bedding smelt and felt damp. Our belongings that we left in the room also had the smell in them. We went to reception to complain. She was not offered alternative accommodation so she had to stay with in my twin room (3 of us all squashed in twins pushed together) this room Also smelt of drains (it wasn’t a great day weather wise but you still don’t expect the drains to make a whole room stink the way it did) We were told the next day someone from management would contact us. ( no one has) I received an email from customer services asking to rate my stay so I emailed them the issues (no reply) I also emailed the email address on the website (no reply). For a 4* hotel the level of service is shocking. To not even respond to emails or acknowledge the issue is poor! We paid £140 for 1 night in a room that stunk and also had to accommodate another person, they knew our friend had to stay in with us and we weren’t offered extra pillows or bedding. Other friends also paid £170 and was then told that they had to pay an additional £30 to use the spa and wanted £20pp for a breakfast I genuinely have no idea how they justify their prices. Avoid! There’s a premier inn not too far away!
