There are very friendly hosts at this accommodation. We received a free room upgrade on arrival (The French Room). There was a mini fridge in the room which contained bottled water. The room facilities were good and included tea and coffee. The bathroom and bedroom were finished to a high standard and had character. The house has a lot of history and the host was open to discuss the historical details of both the house and its occupants alongside side how the restoration process happened. The continental breakfast in the morning was included, freshly prepared, and provided with lots of choices and because it was self-serve we didn't feel rushed. Fresh coffee on hand and the granola and yoghurt parfait was very tasty. Free parking is also available and close to the village where we had a nice meal at an Indian restaurant (Bengal Spices).
Booked for 24 of us. Despite the fact I chopped and changed numbers etc everything was spot on and they did a special set menu for me with a choice of starter, main and dessert (2 or 3 course). All the food came out at the same time and all the meals were hot. I had the prawn cocktail, curry and a sticky toffee pudding which I didn’t get (a 2 course person thought it was spare and claimed it)! Waiting on and bar service was excellent. Overall, a fantastic evening, would definitely recommend! Can’t wait to go again.
The torrential rain did not spoil our two night stay at this charming hotel. We had originally hoped to visit the Ironworks and the Jail but the staff went out of their way to make the weather imposed stay superb…Chris and the rest of the staff are by far the best we have encountered in our many years of travel and we now will be returning hopefully in the better weather to carry out our trips! The breakfast was exceptional we tried the full English and the bacon baps and the quality was second to none. As the weather was so poor we booked dinner on both evenings and once again the food was superb and the desserts were to die for! The only downside to our room was we always sleep with an open window and due to the secondary double glazing this was not possible 😭

We needed an overnight stay to break up a long journey. This hotel was in the right place and the price was reasonable for bed and breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean and had nice facilities. Breakfast was pleasant, not the best we have had but certainly acceptable. Just be aware that some of the rooms, and ours was one, that has traffic noise that was less from about 11pm but started again at 0500. So it’s worth asking for a quit room if one is available. Parking was easy to enter and exit and it’s nice and safe, but be aware that the spaces are quite cramped if you are lucky enough to own a larger car it might need some careful parking.
5 of us recently came for a Spa break including ,lunch, evening meal and breakfast. We each had 2 treatments each and had full use of the spa facilities. On arrival at Reception we were greeted by a lovely and very helpful lady who told us everything we needed to know. We checked into our rooms (3 rooms in total and they were the Superior Rooms) they were all spotlessly clean, with free Toiletries and complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. We also had a gift in each room which was a bottle of Prosecco. Each room had a balcony overlooking the canal and countryside views, very relaxing. Beautiful rooms and decor with a safe, fan ,iron and ironing board. After check in we went for lunch where we had a lovely bottle of champagne to share and a Mezze Board each which consisted of fresh bread, breadstick, houmous, olives, pate, selection of meat, dips and new potatoes which was delicious. We then went to start our spa experience...again spotlessly clean facilities...Spa included,Sauna,Steam room, jacuzzi, hydro pool, swimming pool, gym, floating beds etc and a lovely relaxation room where we were served fresh fruit and fruit juice when requested. Plenty of water, green tea and herbal tea also available. We each chose to have the deep tissue massage...50 minutes each and it was absolutely perfect and they worked to your requests. The second treatment the following day we chose between us the Mud Rasul ,Massage Chair and the Floatation booth...between us we all agreed were absolutely fabulous. The whole spa experience was wonderful and relaxing, the lights in there were dimmed but enough light to see what you needed to see but made it even more relaxing a long with the calming spa music. On the evening we all went for dinner and drinks...we all had a 3 course meal...food freshly prepared and tasted delicious...empty plates all around. Breakfast the following morning was a buffet style...from full English to continental with tea, coffee and fruit juices...again very nice indeed. When we finished that day we were all given a complimentary gift each from the Spa ...a selection of lovely Toiletries and bag. The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful ,friendly and helpful staff, quality food, excellent spa, beautiful rooms ...would I recommend coming here? Absolutely 100% without a doubt...we came home feeling fully relaxed and content from our break away ...
