Really lovely hotel. Had a premium room with a bath in the bedroom. Dead comfortable bed, nice bar and nice staff. Sadly the only let down was they evening meal. Cassoulet it was not. More a watery stew with beans and a bit of confit duck and pork belly in it. Food aside( i presume chef was on a night off ) the place is great. They took of the wine from our bill to apologise. Would i go back. Absolutely but would probably eat out

The older reviews here are way off. This is not a bad place to stay at all. The apartments are two houses attached to the Holiday Inn that have been converted to a high standard. I stayed in London for a couple of nights and around 50 quid per night and I was very impressed. The apartments have a small kitchen with a sink, dishwasher and microwave toaster kettle, etc nice bathroom with rainfall shower and a comfortable double bed. The only issue I encountered was that the desk seemed to be broken. When is staying in a hotel? I make sure that the bed is comfortable. The shower is good, and both of these are absolutely fine. I do not think you can beat this for the value, so we definitely recommend people stay here

Good experience at Sandman Newcastle, location is perfect which is just above the Metro station St James, easy to go around the city, also in a walking distance to the monument easy access to shopping area and many restaurants, staff members are friendly and helpful. Nice restaurant and supermarket in the neighbourhood. The room even equipped with oven and fridge . Recommended strongly

Had a lovely stay but felt let down by several issues. Check in was nice & smooth with friendly staff. We had upgraded our room to a superior & it was lovely & clean but had very little storage, especially the bathroom. This wouldn’t have been a problem for 1 night but we stayed 4. The views from the floor to ceiling window were superb. Room servicing appears to have been stopped throughout the country now since covid & if that is to continue then I would suggest larger bins are provided. Surely over a 4 night stay it is not unreasonable to have the room serviced at least once. Our “king size” bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together with the ever present gap in the middle. The toilet paper was cheap & nasty & out of keeping with the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was buffet style, adequate & reasonable. The drinks menu said there was a “guest ale” & to enquire at the bar to see what is was & the price. When I asked what the “guest ale” was I was told it was CIDER. Location is no more than a 5 minutes walk from the railway station. Overall we had a vey enjoyable stay & would definitely stop again.

I went to the county hotel for a weekend away with my partner we went to check in staff were friendly and accommodating very pleasant went up to our room it was very clean and well layed out the bed wasn't to hard or soft the hotel its self is in an ideal place very close to all activities we booked a table in the Hudson restaurant in the hotel again I was blown away with the service all staff were so friendly and food was fantastic we also had breakfast included in room price the price was cheap for 2 breakfast all you can eat continental especially in a 4 star hotel food was beautiful we will defo be going back

Well what a little gem of a Hotel. Beautiful location right next to the Castle and near the Quayside. We had a lovely stay, the Staff were fantastic! So helpful and polite and friendly and very very professional. We felt very special and looked after. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was lovely. We didn't have any meals there except for breakfast which was tasty and there was plenty of options, the Staff in there again were very lovely and attentive. Saying all this a couple of little niggles the Hotel was so hot! To be fair the weather was beautiful when we were there but there is no air conditioning in the building. I do appreciate it is an older building and it's not always possible to install Air Con Units but a few fans scattered around would have made it a bit more bearable in the public areas . There was a fan provided in our bedroom which was very welcome as the sun facing the windows all day ! We also found the bed not very comfortable, the mattress was too hard for our liking but then this may suit other people so it's not a criticism really of the Hotel more our preference to have a softer mattress. All in all we Would definitely go back to this hotel but I think I would go in the colder months.

Not bad, a little far from the train station, but close to the river, there are many bars. But the hotel is a bit old. There is a good English breakfast shop and ice cream shop nearby. Dear All, Grey's st Hotel a Grade 11 listed building Slap bang in the center of the City where I cut my teeth in Life, It had been over 25 years since I was in that part of Me Toon, All the Family had come together for My Loves 60th Birthday, From Australia to Shropshire We gathered and Met up at this Jewel of a find, Our stay was for 3 neets (Nights for the non Geordie's) And From the off were not disappointed The rooms were spacious,clean and tidy, The Hotel itself with a lot of original features still there, history literally on the walls, Inside and oot (out) Although My City has changed a huge amount even in My Lifetime, What will never Change are its People Which is where the Hotels staff get a mention, Young Amy & Liam, On Front of House were exemplary, Professional, Polite, beyond helpful but they key was ”tha banta” two young ones with big smiles and even bigger kind hearts, For going the extra mile setting up Wor Lasses(The Mrs) Birthday cake surprise, I can't tank You enough, Us Geordie's are a Proud, hard working lot, We know how to graft and we certainly know how to let our hair doon (down), My city's History goes way back beyond The Roman Empire, Sat on the banks of the Tyne and to this Day is a Jewel that shines bright, Al (All)) the Staff at Grey's st thank You for helping to have made this trip a memory that No One in my Family will ever Forget. 🖤🤍XXX Ps To our Friend across the Pond Gumdrop216, Comparing My City to a srip in the Dessert that's only 80 years old😂, You should try reading a little before making comments that are uneducated, But funny like Where would the World be without a bit of Banta. The 4-person female dormitory has a lot of space, with separate toilets, sofas, TVs, tables and chairs, but the location is a bit quiet, so be careful when going out alone in the morning and evening
