Although the location is a bit remote, driving and parking are very convenient, the key price is very high, the facilities in the room are ok, and the bed is more comfortable!

We have stayed in a few ibis hotels and this is the best one. Staff go out of there way to help you. Breakfast was lovely and they always had fresh scramble egg ready for me. We went for a weekend crafting and staff always loved to hear about our day over hot chocolate. Would definitely stay here again, rooms were very clean and big, quite place, plenty of disabled parking

Travelling with a larger family can often be difficult to accommodate so booked this room for one night as a stop over on a long distance trip, chosen as it can accommodate 5 and is convenient to the motorway. The hotel is so much more than that though! The rooms are fantastic, spacious, well equipped and meticulously clean… in our room for 5 there was 3 large beds plus a table and chairs alongside higher end refreshments, hot chocolates, nice coffee machine and a few items in the fridge. The breakfasts were brilliant, a great selection including vegetarian options and a specific gluten free area which is a rare find. The hot food was cooked to perfection and the choice of pastries, cheeses, meats, fruits and cereals far exceeded other hotels of this standard. The decor of the hotel was modern, bright and clean throughout and has a really cool vibe going on with lots of vintage and obscure items on shelves around the lobby and dining area. By far the best aspect however we’re the staff who were all absolutely lovely, so friendly and helpful, which was a great start to our New Year! Already planning a trip back to the area to use the hotel as a base.
Ideal location to an event we were attending at the Don Valley bowl. Both guys on reception very helpful.
Parking onsite which was great. Allowed us to check in early as we needed to attend an event.
Room was clean and smelt clean also. Decorating and furniture was dated, but this didn’t affect our stay.
There was a constant noise, possibly in the pipes… but it was something we got used to.
I would stay again as it was reasonably priced, considering hotels closer to our event was 5 times the price.
Thank you 🙂
First time using this motel as needed somewhere to stay while visiting friends to arrange a funeral and is only a couple of miles away from their house and price was perfect. Its not trying to be something it isn't, the rooms are showing their age but the bedsheets and towels looked brand new. The bathroom again has aged but the shower was powerful and everthing served its purpose. Tea/coffee and a very clean kettle is supplied and there is a tv and electric radiator.
Staff very helpful and the maids very curteous. I have already booked a room again for the aforementioned funeral as apart from price the check-in time is 14.00hrs which is perfect.
I did not try the food as i had no need to so can't review it. All in all not a romantic weekend away place but great for stopovers and again if you want something better you will have to pay more for it.
We stayed at Hellaby in March earlier this year. The drive up to it is stunning seeing the old house at the front. There is plenty of parking which was handy as we came with 2 cars. The staff are lovely and looked after us from the first time we stepped through the door. The spa facilities are fantastic! Our little man loved swimming in the pool and my wife loved the jacuzzi. It’s such a beautiful historic hotel and would definitely recommend anyone needing a hotel in the Sheffield/Rotherham area to stay here.

CCamilleKamsFirst time having dinner and staying at a Greene King facility, and all I can say is I’m looking forward to trying other places within the chain. Focusing on The Red Lion, all I can say is that the entire stay was fabulous. The staff either at reception, behind the bar or in the restaurant were amazing and looked after us really well. The meal was gorgeous, and extremely generous. We shared starters and then struggled to finish my main (steak and ale pie). The room was clean, charming and super comfortable. The tea and coffee facilities were probably the best ones I’ve seen (apart from hotels offering proper coffee machine access). All I’m disappointed about was not staying longer… The decor gives a lovely, warm and cosy experience all over. Parking is free and has quite a lot of spaces. Traffic wasn’t an issue for me, slept like a log !
GGuest UserWe had the most beautiful wedding here on the 28th March 2022. I would highly recommend this venue to any future brides, the day was absolutely perfect from start to finish! Me and my maid of honour checked into the hotel the evening before and all the staff were so helpful, helping us carry things down the reception room and answering the every question I had - there were a lot! We ordered room service the evening before and it arrived hot and fast and was of an excellent quality. I feel it was very reasonably priced for the quality and I was shocked that the portion sizes were so good. I stayed in the Tang both the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding, the room is so beautifully decorated and luxurious. The bed was so comfy I had the best nights sleep - even the night before the wedding which I was surprised at! The morning of the wedding staff checked on me which was very much appreciated to see if there was anything I needed. Special thanks to the receptionists who were absolutely lovely throughout our stay! The wedding ran so smoothly, Charlie who co-ordinated our day was honestly amazing and she always made sure I had everything I needed - including a drink in my hand at all times 😂 Everyone made sure every aspect of the day was taken care of and nothing was too much trouble! The food was absolutely incredible too. The ham hock terrine was of an excellent standard, I didn’t have the braised beef but everyone said it was absolutely incredible and they had never tasted anything like it. I didn’t have the opportunity to eat the buffet but all my guests loved it! We also had the cake of cheese which was a real showpiece - so beautifully presented. Overall, our day was incredible. I’m so glad I chose Aston Hall as our wedding venue and I really wish I could do it all over again!
GGuest UserThe room /bed great, Other guests the problem, family 5 arrived 12 midnight, back & forth BANGING CAR DOORS each time, then 3.15am their car alarm goes off, night staff phoned her and her reply ”its always doing that” My suggestion you have LARGE notice outside and in rooms (as they doo at airports) Please close you doors silently as others are sleeping 24 hours -- some travelers sleep in late so it applies in day light hours too. Receptionist Katie was very helpful re where we could have breakfast and about voucher, which we bought, good value
