We had a great meal here when we called on the off chance of getting a table. It was a Weds night so we thought it would be quiet, how wrong we were?! Fortunately the lovely Phillipa found us a table and couldn’t do enough for us to make sure everything we wanted was sorted out. We’re both vegetarian and find the veggie options limited in many places we visit, the Lakes was an exception to this rule and the Eagle and Child provided us with excellent choices, we had home cooked veggie chilli and a butternut squash lasagne, perfect after a long walk. I have to mention Phillipa as she encompasses all that good service is about, efficient, engaging, energetic and nothing was too much trouble a real gem of a barmaid, in a homely pub with a roaring fire, what more could you ask for?!

Nice hotel, free parking, gas station, supermarket nearby, very close to the lake area, breakfast is very good, freshly cooked English breakfast.

I stayed at The Watermill overnight on my way up to Scotland in a single room. The room was quiet, cosy and comfortable. Ideal! I also didn't expect a smart TV, so that was a bonus! Staff were really friendly throughout my stay, and it was nice to relax in the bar with one of the pub's own beers after a long drive. Nice breakfast the next morning too! I'd definitely come back!

We stayed with our extended family overnight for Bed Breakfast and evening meal. Everything exceeded our expectations. Food was delicious. all staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms were so comfortable where we could really relax. we went for a lovely walk on the estate the morning after taking in the beautiful autumnal colours still lingering in the woods.

Have stayed in numerous hotels in the UK and overseas but this was the best overall by far! Beautiful place to stay . The decor, staff, food, surroundings and facilities were just outstanding! All the staff displayed just the right balance between friendliness and professionalism. I’m extremely interested in cuisine , especially where my food comes from, and was so appreciative that head chef took the time to talk to me personally. I just cannot wait to return here. I mustn’t forget to mention our lovely, helpful and friendly breakfast waitress , Grace! Unforgettable in the nicest way!

I stayed for 3 nights. Graham met me when I arrived. He is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. My room was at the top of the property and Graham, kindly, took my bag up. The room was a good size with a nice en-suite shower room. The B&B is very well located on a quiet street close to the shops, restaurants and to the station. This was my first time in the Lake District and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the B&B and all the areas I visited while I stayed there. I would highly recommend the White Rose.

The hotel was clean and tidy , and room was adequate for our stay , bed was very comfortable . The staff were very friendly and helpful ,in reception and dining room .The Breakfast was a buffet selection ,self service , with Tea or Coffee, good selection to choose from .The dinner menu was also good ,with a choice of Starters ,Mains & Desserts ,all good wholesome food of a pub type menu. After a day out ,went for a drink in the Ossett Head Bar in the hotel grounds , nice pleasant ambient setting , this was the only time , it never opened again for the duration of our stay. The only other bar is in the dining room , and this was only open , during meal times , no soft furnishings , only dining tables . dont know if you could take drinks from there , into the guest lounge ,never informed. Plentiful supply of Tea & Coffee in room ,which you had to replenish from reception . i am now Tea Total & Alcohol Free after this mini vacation .

My Nan and I stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms were lovely and clean. My Nan and I found the bed and pillows really comfortable. Rob & Tanya are wonderful hosts. Their communication prior to and during our stay went above and beyond what I expected. We had breakfast on all 3 mornings, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Rob & Tanya also gave us some lovely recommendation for local attractions, as well as some local restaurants too. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Having been let down at the last minute by another hotel, we were very lucky to be able to secure rooms at the Station Lodge in Windermere. The rooms were very clean and modern. It is based right in the heart of Windermere, close to the train station and bus stop, with lovely walks and amazing views close by. Liam was extremely helpful and gave us plenty of tourist information. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend!
