"Really lovely reception area, staff were great during book in, very helpful and friendly. Room was clean, spacious and warm. Just what we wanted for our one night stay. Didn't visit the bar or restaurant as was with my 12 year old Son but the menu looked excellent and the bar area looked pleasant. Plenty of nice flat car parking spaces. Would definitely visit again!"
"They was very good when I ask for extra milk as I found you need 2 in a cup and they left me a lot plus the room was tidy and the staff seemed very pleasant "
"Quirky but in a good way. The receptionist correctly confirmed that my booking was for a standard double room, so when I opened the door I was amazed to find a huge room with two double beds and a single and enough empty floor space for another three doubles. My amazement continued when I walked into the bathroom (again huge) with two large spa baths (I later tried one - very relaxing). The site has a lot of history having been a country house, home of a German princess, Jesuit retreat and an RAF leadership school. Set in several acres of grounds which also made for a pleasant walk after an enjoyable dinner. I’ve sometimes paid more for a Premier Inn or Travelodge."
"Room smelled of vomit and the curtains were torn informed staff they did seemed attentive but we were not offered a room change
Hotel is contracted to workmen working on the motorway also lots of couples with dogs in the room
In my opinion the cleanliness has declined in this hotel"
If you're a sports fan, Premier Inn Hotel St Helens South puts you just up the road from two iconic football teams and a world-famous rugby league club too. And, with easy access to Liverpool and St Helens with the M62 close by, you can be at your meeting or at the shops in no time. Cheer on your football team at Anfield or Goodison Park. Or watch the rugby at Langtree Park, St Helens' home ground. Haydock Park and Aintree are just a short drive away, so there's lots of horse racing to enjoy, plus all the shops and amenities of Liverpool. At the end of a packed day, come back to the hotel for a tasty meal in our Beefeater restaurant and a lovely comfy bed.
"Negative points from our stay
I travelled with my 11 year old grandson, I booked us a twin room, which we got. Unfortunately, the room was an adjoining room to a double and the ”activity” noises from the other room were so bad that we checked out at 11pm as I didn't want my grandson to have to experience that. It literally sounded like they were in the room with us. I would perhaps suggest that in the future you look at your guest list and unless adjoining rooms are with the same party, where children are in a twin, look to accommodate the couple in another part of the hotel where possible.
I was disappointed that we were expected to pay £5 each to use the pool as I have never stayed at an hotel where it is not included in the room price.
Positive
All the staff were really friendly and helped as much as they could. The night Duty Manager was especially helpful and empathetic to my room dilemma but was unable to find us an alternative twin room, only a double which was not appropriate for us.
We ate in the bar and the food was exceptional although a little pricey.
The location was good and the hotel was easy to find. Be careful when you leave as there are two speed bumps on the exit, and no matter how slow you are going, it feels and sounds like your cars insides are dropping out.
Rooms were spotless and beds very comfortable."
"I booked it because I had to visit Anfield. I was satisfied with it overall except for one bug that I had to get rid of. It was nice to rent a car and go."
