We booked 2 nights for new year !! Very old building which we enjoy staying these type of properties Scott the owner very welcoming both Claire’s was very friendly and helpful As was the rest off the team Couldn’t fault our stay Live band what the duck ! Was brilliant Saturday night and New Year’s Eve was karaoke again brilliant night Bedrooms was clean bed was comfortable Breakfast was lovely and big ! Opposite York York Cathedral, fried chicken is convenient. You can see the cathedral from the restaurant. It's also very close to Butcher Street. I arrived in the evening, and the brother on duty was very welcoming. Later I went into the room and found his introduction on the table, originally from Hungary. The booked room has no breakfast, but you can eat it at your own expense. That's it for the English breakfast.

We booked The Hotel du Vin because it was dog friendly and could provide a room with a bath. I have visited the Hotel du Vin in Birmingham many times and was hopeful the York Hotel du Vin would be good. When we arrived there was a dog bed and two bowls in our room. We had brought Lily's cage but it was not needed. There were several bins outside for poo bag disposal. When they said they were dog friendly they meant it. The hotel is situated a short walk from York centre. The bed was comfortable. The food was good. Staff were helpful and the hotel was well presented. I would return if I ever needed a hotel in York with Lily in tow.

Family hotel, the room is very spacious, the facilities are new, the breakfast is good. There was a parking space on the roadside, and the proprietress stopped in the small courtyard of the hotel and received the parking fee the next day. It is estimated that she will not receive parking fees when she stops at the roadside. The railroad is outside the window, but it is not very noisy, and people who are not sensitive should have no influence. No elevator, big box, 3rd floor, need arm strength.

Stayed for a night in February with my wife, 10 year old son and 8 year old daughter. Definitely a 4* star plus apartment but on checking out in a heavy rainstorm, reception would only look after our luggage pre train at £3 an item including my kids school rucksacks for their day trip i.e. not just the big suitcases! Reasoning by reception staff that this was at managers discretion and they were not a hotel. This rang as hollow as the York Minister’s bells, was not dealt with particularly courteously and meant our last interaction with the staff and lasting impression was one of annoyance at the financial opportunism. Appreciate you can’t buy a coffee for £3 these days but it’s the principle! Still lots of pros to staying here 1) fantastic location a stone’s throw from Minster 2) lot of space for the 4 of us 3) modern amenities inc good shower 4) well insulated and warm with modern heating system 5) old sloping floor does give it a quirky charm. Cons- sloping foor and average bed mattress does make you feel like you might roll out of bed at any moment.

We had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us.

Had my night before the big day here with the best man. What a brilliant place! We really enjoyed the dinner and the grounds especially, but other highlights included the cocktail bar and the swimming pool. Service by all staff was fantastic and I got a really good and well-needed night's sleep; the room itself was flawless and the bed really comfortable. I'll be sure to consider it again for any other special occasions.

The room is smaller than the York Hotel. The room is in a relatively modern style, but I don't like it very much. The overall tone is darker and a bit depressing. The hotel breakfast is also average, there are few choices, sausages or other meats are very salty, maybe salt is not expensive 🙃

GGuest UserA fantastic hotel. Check in was easy with friendly staff. Our room was very clean, modern and comfortable. Rooms come with and iron and ironing board and a hairdryer. Plus in the bathroom there’s toiletries. This was an ideal location it was close to everything. Within 5 minutes or less we were at the shambles. The shambles car park is a short walk away and you get 20% discount if staying at the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious with a wide variety of choice, there’s even a waffle maker with a good choice of toppings. We opted to go for breakfast around 7 am as we are early birds plus we like to beat the queues/ rush. We did see how busy it can get later on so I would recommend earlier the better. We will definitely be staying here again hopefully can get an adjoining room as our kids will be coming with us.

Breakfast time a bit packed but you can always find a seat within a few minutes. York is such a small city that you can go anywhere on foot leisurely.

Beautiful decor all very clean, very comfortable beds and amazing breakfast. V. Child friendly too All in all the perfect base in a quiet and beautiful part of York, close enough to stroll through the museum gardens into the Centre or amble along the Riverside. GGuest UserI will start with the parking, I paid for secure parking however due to the hotel having noise issue the security gate to the carpark (The noise caused complaints) and second issue of refurbishment being ongoing, the gate was up to allow the building teams to park in the entrance way. This made it difficult to get out of the carpark due to there vans. When I questioned staff they were very dismissive of the issue and said they had CCTV on so it would be fine. The hotel itself is being partial refurbished and that is to revamp the very dated rooms, we were aware of this beforehand, however we were not prepared for 7am drilling and banging from the building works. In addition to this the corridors were often filled with building equipment and furniture which was ongoing throughout the stay. The room, while well proportioned, was very dated. This could have been forgiven if it wasn't for the fact the room was not clean. There were a number of stains on the carpet, the bathroom sink was stinking when used. The bath mat was moldy and the shower itself was a trickle of water, making it difficult to wash quickly. The curtains were very grubby and the room smelled very stale, the bed was adequate but we couldn't be 100% that the sheets had been properly cleaned as there was an odd smell to the bedding. The TV was of decent size but kept cutting in and out of signal when in use, which was annoying when we decided to have an early evening chilling in the room we had paid for, the WiFi was useless, if planning to work while staying here you will need to hotspot your phone. The breakfast food was OK, however the description of a wide choice of cooked food and continental breakfast dishes was over exaggerated, there was no fruit on two days and bananas on the last morning, one choice of yogurt and 3 small cereal options. The cooked food was standard: Bacon, eggs, sausages, hash browns, tomatoes,mushrooms and bean's. Toast was something that had to be requested and was more like warm bread. On the first morning my partner was served a cup with the remainder of someone's lipstick stains on the rim. On closer inspection of the glasses there were a number which were not clean. On the second night we went to the bar area to grab a couple of drinks. The bar was full of empty unwashed glasses and when we got our drinks our glasses where sticky. There was a smell of stale ale which was not appealing in the slightest. On checking out raised a couple of things with the receptionist and was meet with at best distinct lack of interest and worst just plan rudeness. Sadly this hotel did not meet the standards it professed to uphold. I would say the location and river view was pretty and the fact the parking was at the hotel itself made it one of the reasons I booked it. However after this visit I will not be visiting again as there are better hotels in York and carparks that are not much more expensive than the supposed secure parking.

GGuest UserGreat location outside of York city centre and very easy access from main roads. There is a park and ride service about half a mile down the road which is highly recommended as parking in York can be difficult and expensive. Park and ride journey time is around ten minutes and drops you off close to the Shambles area of town. The accommodation was basic but clean. Bed was comfortable, Shower was very powerful and plenty of towels. Large screen TV. Breakfast was limited but very nice and set us up for the day. The only downside about the accommodation was that it would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room to keep water etc, there was plenty of space to have one. Also it would have been nice to have had a small sofa to watch tv in the evenings as the two desk chairs were not comfortable to sit on for any length of time. Also the walls were very thin as other room noise even conversations could be heard. There is also a Toby Inn next door which does really nice food and various ales.

Love the original features that have survived in the ”older” part of the manor house but secondly, the hotel is tired and dated. We stayed in a room in the older part that was charming but with poor lighting, worn out fittings and furniture, The bathroom was adequate but very worn. The desk in the room was badly marked and every time a hot drink was made the mug stuck to the surface. The restaurant was ok, lovely evening meal and a more than adequate breakfast, but the restaurant is soulless with no atmosphere. As an aside the morning staff seem more interested in standing by the breakfast buffet, chatting, leaning on the walls and regaling the Saturday night adventures more than making sure all was ok with diners. The dining chairs are also very saggy and uncomfortable. Love the missing seating cushion feature in the bar! Overall, OK hotel but hardly 4 star and overdue a major re-fit.

GGuest UserWe stayed here 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Very friendly and helpful checkin on arrival. Our room was well equipped with everything you require for a comfortable stay and it was very quiet. Only small complaint was we had an upstairs room and it got quite hot during the day and took awhile to cool off at night. There’s a pub across the road for meals and a drink and a convenience store a short walk away. A short pleasant walk to the city with all the amazing things York has to offer. There’s a no alcohol policy in your room which has attracted some negative feedback in the past. But it’s the owners place so it’s their rules and we had no problem respecting their decision. We had a cup of tea at night instead of our glass of red. The majority of people would drink responsibly in their rooms but there’s always a few that would spoil it for everyone else and the owners have no option but to make it a blanket ban. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone else.

GGuest UserFrom the minute I arrived the staff were extremely polite, professional and showed a genuine desire to help. The bedrooms are of a very high standard with everything you could possibly need. The bed was extremely comfortable (to the stage that I struggled to get up the following morning). The food in the restaurant was exceptional. It is rare to find a hotel that can balance between excellent service in a relaxed yet informal setting. If you are travelling on business or pleasure the York Pavilion hotel is a must. Congratulations to all the staff you are all doing a truly fabulous job.

Ddashv1llWe had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us.

GGuest UserAt arrival we managed to get the key before the actual check in time. I called the number and the housekeeper very kindly gave me the key card and showed me how to open doors for later on. We were so lucky to have a family room even if it was just the two of us. We stayed in room 3 at ground floor. There was plenty of space and lots of tea and coffee and a small fridge as well. The bathroom is awesome, brand new with a huge shower and very clean. Only thing is the radiators in the room do not work so there is a heater. The room was quite warm but maybe it would be better to have a different heating system for winter. We like staying in Fulford because it's much quieter than the city centre. The bus stop is very close and busses run every 15 minutes. Perfect for us!
