A lovely hotel in Chania. We had two nights with this hotel, the location is perfect. The breakfast is wonderful. There are several really nice decent local food just a few minutes walk away from the “tourists restaurants”. Seafood is excellent!

... When we arrived in Chaniá on Nov. 20 – not that way Helena. It was not easy to find the object in the labyrinth-in-labyrinth gas cord of the old town, but our search was not angry, because we also crossed many visible sections, which was very interesting. The object is located in the second row behind the construction of the port bay, and this at a place where the gate was particularly narrow. We had to go to our room in the upper floor by tight walks and steep stairs – but then there was a great reward for our effort: Through the large windows of our very attractive and spacious room we had a magnificent view over the whole area of the Venice port up to the mountains! Central, but also quiet! Genial! The chef of the house was very friendly and very competent. He gave us excellent tips for locals for eating, drinking ... and for viewable, which is not in guides. The price for our room was significantly higher than that of the other hotels visited on our trip through Athens and Crete – but still in the framework. We were busy on the way, and hadn't rented a car, because on four wheels you can't reach the house. And the next parking option would have been very far away.

What a spectacular location. This hotel is more like a home, with comfortable and large rooms. The amenities, the design features, and the overalll aesthetic is beachy modern old world European if there is such a thing . We thoroughly enjoyed a delightful stay at this gorgeously renovated boutique hotel right on the harbor inside the breakwall in Chania. The wonderful staff is present 24/7. The on site restaurant offers generous portions for a family style breakfast ( included) lunch and dinner. There was need to go anywhere else for breakfast/brunch served til 11, and the dinner was even more amazing with the best service staff and delicious food. Local wine and Raki were flowing as we devoured an incredible dry-aged tomahawk steak, cheese, honey, olives and dessert. This was a perfect location for our family for a 3-day weekend in Crete, our teens had the huge Paper Room with a classic old-world city view and we enjoyed the beautiful seaside Wooden Room on the same floor. Water and coffee are provided at no charge, with a mini bar and soft drinks available in your room. Room service is available from the restaurant upon request. The aesthetic of the hotel is nothing short of spectacular. Five stars in our view - excellent thoughtful amenities, just gorgeously decorated, and soft comfy beds. Located in the Old Town it is safe walking distance to everything east and west in the harbor and town. It’s an easy, very pretty and fun 2-hour drive along the coast east to The Palace of Knossos and a stop on your way back for lunch at the Venetian Harbor in Reythymnon - that day gave us California Highway 1 vibes. Highly recommend.

Das Hotel hat einen bezaubernden Charme mit herzlichen Menschen. Die Zimmer haben einen ganz besonderen Zauber und das gesamte Hotel ist liebevoll gestaltet. Das Frühstück konnten wir im hauseigenen Café/Weinbar mit Blick auf den Hafen und den Leuchtturm einnehmen. Wir durften aus einer Auswahl an griechischen Köstlichkeiten wählen, angefangen von Joghurt, Honig, frischem Obst, Käse, Oliven, frisch gepresstem Orangensaft .... ein perfekter Start in den Tag. Dankeschön an das gesamte Alcanea-Team. Sollten wir wieder einmal in der Nähe sein ... wir kommen gerne wieder!

GGuest UserBest holiday!! 'Theos village apartments' is a wonderful, relaxing, friendly, family run establishment. From the moment we arrived at apx 10.30pm we were greeted by the owners with such a wonderful welcome! Nothing was too much trouble. They brought out pizza (which is to die for!) And lovely Greek Salads as we hadn't eaten ( even though the kitchen was closed). We sat on the stunning terrace into the early hours and by the end of the evening we were on first name terms with them and felt we'd known each other for years! The owners, Yota and Dimitris and their son's, Micheal and Alex work very hard to provide the best, friendly and efficient service. The apartments are lovely and clean, very comfortable beds and have all you need for a self catering holiday. Maids came in to clean and provided fresh towels every day. Air con was great and free! The pool area is stunning, not huge but never too busy, we always had beds and we were a party of 10. Micheal and Alex would bring us drinks and ice lollies at the pool to cool us down. The bar and restaurant area is a fabulous, modern setting and provided lunches and evening meals very reasonably priced. We ate there on 2 evenings which we thoroughly enjoyed! Dimitris does all the cooking and is very particular, ensuring all his guests enjoy his food. Yota (who is originally from Canada) strives to make sure everyone is happy and has everything they need. Micheal and Alex are the most charming and helpful lads, advising on local trips and restaurants and attending to every need. We loved all our chats! The local area is quiet enough but has what you need. A great, well stocked supermarket a few minutes walk, a beautiful beach about 8 minute walk with a lovely beach cafe, more shops and restaurants on the main beach road ( there are 2 routes, one is quicker). The bus into Chania is few minutes walk from apartments and only €1.00 per ticket. Takes around 10 minutes ( if that). Buy your tickets at supermarket before going on the bus. Chania old town is beautiful , we went in most days, lots of shops and fab restaurants on the harbour. My parents stayed across the road in Theos holiday apartments ( a separate business) because Theos village couldn't fit us all in. But my parents used Theos village facilities and were greeted and treated as one of their own guests, which was lovely! 'Mama & Papa' loved it! I cannot rate our stay highly enough! We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and made great friends with the 'Theos village family'. We were sad to leave! We are looking forward to returning next year! VVacation45184277130I had a fantastic 4 night stay at the Chania Flair! After being greeted with a cold towel, glass of champagne and smoked salmon, I knew that my stay would be great. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The a la carte breakfast was great and there was a wide selection of hot and cold options. My room was huge and spotless, and the bed was very comfy. The only con of the room was that it looked over he neighbouring apartment building (so, not a very interesting view from the balcony). The hotel sent a fruit plate and a bottle of wine to the room...they know how to spoil their guests. The beach is right next to the hotel, and the hotel has a dedicated section on the beach (which was great!). Again, staff at the beach and at the Hagen Dazs (which is associated with the hotel) were all great. I used the roof top pool once during my stay, which had great views over the sea. I had a very relaxing stay at the Chania Flair and would absolutely stay here again!

GGuest UserWe arrived in beautiful Chania and were dropped off on the main road opposite the little track up to the Nireas. I had read TA reviews so knew to expect that Christos, the owner, would offer us a room upgrade but we were happy with our original room which was Apt 24 on the ground floor with a fantastic large balcony opening straight onto the pool area. We paid €5 a night for air con which was really powerful, and €10 for the safe. The room was dated but more than adequate for us as we are used to Greek accommodation. There were 2 beds pushed together and then a single bed near the door which my son slept in. There was a 2 ring hob, microwave and kettle and basic utensils but we only ate breakfast in the apartment so it was more than enough. I think you would struggle to conjure up a Cordon Bleu meal though but with so many fabulous restaurants on the doorstep, it wasn’t a worry for us. There were a few things that made us chuckle…. the apartment door had been hung the wrong way so the handle was inside the room and not on the outside 🤣 and the usual Greek plumbing scenario with the shower head on the wall but the shower screen on the other side of the shower meaning the floor got soaked 🫣 but hey, it’s Greece 🇬🇷 The maid came in every day except a Sunday and the sheets/towels were changed regularly. There was a drying rack on the patio for hanging wet beach stuff up. Plenty of socket points and the beds were super comfy. The pool area was quiet but we only used it in the afternoons once we came back from the beach. There were always sunbeds and Christos was either there or available by WhatsApp. The WiFi worked fine in our rooms and by the pool. Kato Doratso is a residential suburb just 4km outside of Chania so a perfect location for us. Just down the little road from the hotel is a supermarket on the corner for all your essentials/bottles of water. There were 4 beaches within walking distance and we chose Sunset Beach due to the stunning clear water. It’s a bay so no tide and it was shallow for a great way out meaning our son could happily swim and play without us worrying too much. There was a bar on the beach and the owner did a mean Freddo Cappuccino ☕️ 👌🏽 You could buy salads, hot snacks and sandwiches, ice creams, crisps and drinks there. There were also chargeable sunbeds and parasols and you could hire a kayak or paddle board. There was another shop near the start of the hotels to the left of the bay. We bought a couple of parasols from the shop and lay on the beach. It was full of local families and we thoroughly enjoyed mixing with them. The bus into Chania is the #21. Come out of the hotel, down onto the main road and take a right along the path. Just past the car garage there’s a bus stop and a ticket machine. You need the exact change and it’s €1.10 each into town (€2 if you pay on the bus) When you are is in Chania, as you get off, there’s a ticket machine and a kiosk to buy return tickets and you can catch the bus back

GGrimI knew as soon as I heard goats with their little bells on that I’d like this place. Quiet, quaint, country accomodation on the way to Samaria Gorge.
The family who run it were all lovely, and mum even made me up a picnic to take on the hike before dad gave us a lift to the starting point.
Maybe it’s because it never happens back home, but I ordered a beer downstairs upon arrival, and got given free olives - that made my absolute day and, though previously incorruptible, my loyalty was bought instantly and totally.
I also had the rabbit fry up thingo, which tasted great, although the salad itself was even better, though it curse my carnivorous tongue to say it.
The bedroom had a great balcony for looking out over the green and rocky hills. Bed was super comfy, and it actually was a little colder way up in the Omalos elevation (in June) which made sleep come very easily for those like me who run hot. Big fluffy blanket in the cupboard though for those of you who like to be warmer.
The bathroom is a bit small and being on the tall end of the height spectrum I had to be wary not to knock myself out on the hand basin when using the toilet. But if you’re under 6 foot you’ll patting your genetics on their small back.
The building is relatively old so expect to hear some footfalls as other guests go past your room, but other than that, blissfully quiet overnight.
The daughter of the family speaks really good English which helped a couple times, when regretfully I seemed to have forgotten all my Greek (which I rudely hadn’t learned prior to arriving).
I can’t recommend this homely hotel enough, so if you’re on your way to hike the gorge, park your car here and stay the night. Then stay in Agia Romelli at the very end of the hike. Then come back to Omalos the next day and get some home style cooking back into your weary body.
Or whatever floats your ferry.

GGuest UserYou’ll walk up 50 marble steps; elevators are forbidden in Old Town. You’ll have trouble finding taxis; streets are pedestrian-only. You’ll talk with Reception by phone and email. Your reward will be one of the most magical balconies in Greece, at the top of Chania’s Old Venetian Harbor. We booked the 4th floor One-Bedroom Suite at the Elia Estia Erato building of Elia Hotels and loved every minute. Elia Hotels Group has renovated historic buildings around Chania into over 20 boutique hotels and apartments. It’s not the Ritz, but you can get that in the US. In Greece, the glitches are worth it to experience Chania up close. Old Venetian Harbor doesn’t just glitter like a storybook–it is a storybook, with more history than anything Disney could imagine. On the stairway landing was a full set of knight's armor (photo). Our balcony had a panoramic view of colorful baroque buildings, dramatic fortresses, an historic mosque and the medieval lighthouse–all reflecting in the harbor at sunset and at night (photos, video). Below us around the harbor were two dozen fine seaside restaurants. In walking distance were huge 16th century monuments to explore and beaches with even more great restaurants. Mr. Antonis Yiakoumakis, Ms. Despina Liakou, and Ms. Maria at Elia Zampeliou Hotel Reception a few streets away (which was our Reception Desk), helped us so much! They showed why Crete is famous for hospitality–even when coping with historic buildings. Historic buildings, for example, don’t have a lot of furniture. There were no drawers for clothing, no place to put modern clam-shell luggage. But when we asked for a luggage stand, they somehow got a large extra table up 3 flights of stairs for us. When I needed smaller bills, Mr. Yiakoumakis personally took me and my 50 Euro bill door to door among local tavernas as waiters whizzed by with heavy trays, until we found a cashier with change. The ambiance was superb, the local food is fantastic, and most important, the people are wonderful. If you need anything, call or email; they answer quickly. When we asked for a few extra towels, we got a weeks’ worth. When the city tore up a nearby street, Ms. Despina personally escorted us to and from our building. Need something? Just ask! :)

Animators Carla and Lauda were our favourite ones and our daughter talk about them even we already returned back to home. For her absolutely fantastic holiday. I can´t also forget to mention the Magic Circus Show and the French protagonists. They makes their job so profesional and makes the people smily and happy. That was absolutely good choice of the hotel managers to choose them !! Fingers up who sign them. From our point of view everything was fine.
