Find the Best Rethymno Hotels

AMAZING!!! This hotel is 10/10 for couples to stay!!! Very close to the city centre (10 min walk) and all the bars and restaurants but far out enough to have some peace and quiet. We arrived from the airport at around 11pm and they left sandwiches and crisps in our room (very nice gesture). The time from chania airport is 2.15 hours on a shared transfer. (Splash the cash and pay for a private one lol) The room we had was very spacious and ideal for our 4 night stay. The house keeping cleaned every day and gave us fresh towels and made our bed. comfy bed and pillows and we loved our little balcony for drinks before we headed out for dinner. We hired quad bikes for $80 for 24 hours which was really good! We saw a lot of the area on this and even managed to take it to Baja Beach club! (would recommend) We also hired a car for $45 for the day and visited Bali Beach where we found a nice beach club called Baboo beach! Would definitely recommend this place :) On the last night of our stay my Fiancee proposed to me on the rooftop of the hotel with the background of the city in the view. He arranged this all with the reception and they closed off the rooftop and bar for us for the hour. This was definitely amazing and we want to thank the hotel for being so cooperative! Will definitely be returning on our anniversary! Thankyou to all the amazing staff :)

The hotel is a great spot location wise as its right in amongst the bars and restraunts and beach only 50 metres away. 15 minute walk from the old town which is lovely and the old fort which stands above it. Breakfast is great and has everything you could want, we were b+b si can’t comment on the evening meals but were told it was decent. Pool bar great with beer served in iced glass and proper cocktails also in a glass, none of that plastic rubbish. Rooms are a little dated but very clean and adequate and changed often. So all in all great value for money and probably isn’t a 4 star and more of a 3. One thing that definitely needs to be addressed is the aircon!! It was 40degrees last week when we arrived and it was not fit for purpose, got told that this was it and was expected to live with it which was not happening. We were given a fan after a bit me insisting they had to sort it and quick. After a couple of uncomfortable night we managed to get it just about ok by leaving the fan on closing the curtains and giving it some time to cool as every time you go out it turns itself of. That said we had a great 2 weeks and would recommend the minos to anybody thinking of going.

We spent two wonderful weeks at ”Grecotel The Plaza Beach House” from mid to late October. An absolute highlight of the hotel is definitely the staff. From the Front Office Manager to Housekeeping, everyone was always friendly, multilingual, and constantly striving to fulfill our wishes. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and offered local dishes, making the start to the day a delight. Although we often dined at local restaurants in town in the evenings, the options at the hotel were always tempting. The apartment we stayed in (Apartment 17) was clean and well-maintained. However, it should be mentioned that the construction here reflects the Southern European charm and not German precision – for us, that was just right. A special feature of this hotel is its proximity to the beach. Even though one has to cross a road to get to the beach, we found the local traffic to be very respectful and accommodating. This point was viewed critically in some reviews, as it is not explicitly mentioned in the hotel brochures. For us, however, this was not an issue. In summary, ”Grecotel The Plaza Beach House” was exactly the place for the relaxing beach vacation we were looking for. We are full of praise for the hotel and are already planning our next stay in Crete. A big thank you to the entire hotel team for this unforgettable vacation! Wir verbrachten zwei wundervolle Wochen im „Grecotel The Plaza Beach House“ von Mitte bis Ende Oktober. Eines der ersten Dinge, die uns auffielen, war die Nähe zum Strand – auch wenn man eine Straße überqueren muss, um dorthin zu gelangen. Ich hatte in einigen Bewertungen gelesen, dass dies von Gästen kritisiert wurde, da es in den Hotelprospekten und Bildern nicht ersichtlich ist. Wir hingegen fanden die griechischen Verkehrsteilnehmer überaus höflich; sie ließen uns stets über die Straße gehen und passten gut auf. Ein weiteres Highlight des Hotels ist definitiv das Personal. Von der Front Office Managerin bis zum Housekeeping war jeder immer freundlich, mehrsprachig und immer bemüht, unsere Wünsche zu erfüllen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war reichhaltig und bot landestypische Speisen, weshalb es uns jeden Morgen eine Freude war. Abends haben wir die lokale Küche in verschiedenen Restaurants der Stadt genossen, daher können wir zum Abendbuffet im Hotel nichts sagen. Das Apartment, in dem wir untergebracht waren (Apartment 17), war sauber und ordentlich. Natürlich sollte man beachten, dass die Bauweise und Bauausführung hier eine südeuropäische Leichtigkeit ausstrahlt und nicht die deutsche Präzision wiedergibt – für uns war das aber kein Problem. Zusammenfassend war unser Aufenthalt im „Grecotel The Plaza Beach House“ genau der Bade- und Strandurlaub, den wir uns vorgestellt hatten und den wir auch dringend benötigten. Wir können dieses Hotel ohne Vorbehalte weiterempfehlen und planen bereits unseren nächsten Aufenthalt auf Kreta. Ein großes Dankeschön an das gesamte Hotelteam für diesen unvergesslichen Urlaub!

Stunning is the right word for everything in this hotel and for old town of Rethymno.Beautiful hotel lovely lovely staff and we’ll be definitely back.We can highly recommended this hotel because you can feel the old soul of the building and you’ll be spoiled by staff as a family member.We wish this could happen in all around the world.If you like atmosphere like from romantic movie go over there.
