I can't speak highly enough and describe how surreal & satisfying this experience was at the Raja Ampat Dive Lodge. The staff is extraordinarily accommodating. Its a long process to reach the Dive Lodge destination, but they will meet you at the airport and escort you from Sorong Airport to the lodge on Mansuar Island. They kindly carried all my luggage and provided me with all the boat transportation. The travel itinerary seems intimidating, but the Dive Lodge staff makes it easy and less complicated as they escort you and they deal with all the logistics. I commend Joseph and Tobias for making the whole orientation extremely thorough and welcoming. My cabin at the lodge was pleasant, comfy and temperature controlled. One of the biggest highlights was the FOOD! All the meals are buffets filled with quality food. This was truly restaurant quality meals. Kudos to the chefs for their brilliant proficiency in the kitchen. The scuba diving was my best dive experience ever. I have dived in 5 other regions around the world, but this underwater scenery tops all the charts. Plus, I had an exceptional dive master and boat crew. Diego helped me enjoy nearly 20 hours of diving. He ensured that I got the best underwater experience. It was surreal when he instructed me on feeding a banana to a bat fish deep underwater. The boat crew of Nando and Nadus were extremely friendly and accommodating. They always did the heavy lifting of my equipment. This was SO MUCH appreciated because I struggle with chronic back injuries. Peres is a very talented underwater video cameraman. He will use his GoPro and capture amazing video clips of you diving. This was the best decision I ever made for a vacation! THANK YOU!!!! - Ben Arlander

VVOLODYMYRA very good hotel altogether, not far from the ferry and close to everything in Waisai. Great bungalows with anything you need, very comfortable. The host is a very welcoming and kind person. I will definitely stay there again next time I'm in Waisai.
i visited this resort specifically to go scuba diving in the areas close to Waisai that my liveaboard trip did not include. The sites themselves are great however i would suggest divers request for local dive masters for all their dives. There are a number of non-indonesian dive masters who are either not good (eg.. on a night dive one non-indonesian dive master missed an octopus which i pointed out then he actually put his go pro in front of mine while i was filming the octopus !!! i pushed his arm aside but he continued anyway ) or don't have enough knowledge of the marine life in the tropics (when i pointed out a shrimp that is commonly found in these waters, the dive master said she had never seen them before -- face palm!!). The resort looks fairly new and they still have some issues to sort out -- like when it rained outside, it also rained inside my room!!! The local staff are very friendly and try their best so 5 stars to them but 3 stars for management.
We had an incredible stay at Vogelkopf Dive Resort in one of the newly built overwater rooms. The modern accommodations were immaculate, and the entire property was beautifully maintained. The boardwalk into the ocean is the longest we’ve seen among its neighbors, looping around over the reef making for delightful strolls. The snorkeling experience there has the perfect blend of sandy bottoms and vibrant coral. Plus, having two docks for speedboat pickups made it so convenient for our snorkeling/diving adventures. Second to the unparalleled diving experience, the food was a highlight of our stay! The authentic Indonesian dishes were home-cooked with love, and the chef welcomed special requests. The hosts were attentive, always checking if we wanted more until we were completely satisfied. Each dinner came with phenomenal homemade cakes, and it was wonderful to know that all the vegetables were grown right on the property. As our time at Vogelkopf came to an end, the owner and staff went above and beyond, personally helping us carry our luggage to the dock and onto the ferry. Their genuine hospitality made our stay truly memorable. We wholeheartedly recommend Vogelkopf Dive Resort for anyone looking for a fantastic getaway!
RRCJOWaisai is a nice town. The residents are not jaded by tourists (yet) as they see them with less frequency than other locations in Indonesia. Simply stated, they are wonderful. All the children say hello and approach often to ask your name and where you are from. Being there in the beginning of December allowed us to see the Christmas parade and train that takes children around town. Magical in so many ways as you can't help but smile when a parade such as this has Mickey Mouse and the much beloved Hello Kitty. And the train is totally lit up with lights and smiles. Beautiful. Most everyone that shows up in Waisai heads out to a resort. Many of the remainder head to home stays in nearby islands or away from town. These can be nice but we don't do well with being so contained. We did a live aboard here in Raja Ampat and then dove with Olin Dive Center in town for another week. The hotel is very situated in town as it is a short walk to the beach, is very close to the wonderful daily market, close to grocery stores and near to the dive shop. We came to stay for 4 days but stayed the week. Rooms are clean and air-conditioned. They are large, have television and provide a breakfast (included in price). Out back there are clothes lines for use. Not much English is spoken but translation apps made life easy. Staff are very nice! At a moments notice the staff set us up with the town's tourist representative (Husna) to help us out with a great deal including getting to Wayag and also seeing the Red, as well as Wilson's, bird of paradise. The hotel was less expensive than the hostel where another diver stayed. We are unsure if we will return for a third visit to Raja but if we do, we will definitely stay at this hotel again as the the place is nice and the town it is in is wonderful.
