Very disappointing stay in June 2023. We were supposed to stay for two nights but left after only one. Our room was very clean and had a lot of storage space but as we laid down to go to sleep we noticed a large patch of black mold way up in a corner of the ceiling. We tried to switch rooms then but the hotel was full. My daughter and I both have a severe mold allergy and in the morning we were both symptomatic. After breakfast I noticed paint marks on the ceiling where someone had previously tried to cover up the mold. Looking outside we saw a massive hole in the roof right over our room that could let even more water in. The breakfast hostess and manager were both very kind and apologetic. They said they knew about the issue and offered to let us change our room. Knowing that there was such a significant problem with one room made us skeptical about the other rooms and we decided to leave. It also left a bad taste in our mouths that the owner would rather cover up a health hazard instead of fixing it. In short, this hotel needs some repairs. If you can avoid room 116 you’ll probably have an ok stay. Other than the mold we didn’t have an issue with service, cleanliness, breakfast, or noise.
1.) This is NOT a 3 star hotel. The accommodations are very meager. 2.) The staff did NOT warn us about the Sandflies in the area upon check in. By midnight, our room was infested with these bugs that bite and itch. We had to leave in the middle of the night to make our return to Reykjavik to escape this situation. 3.) There was a bunch of horse dung outside our window as well that was disgusting and likely exasperated the sand fly problem. I emailed the owners and never heard a response.
Lovely little guesthouse ideally located on the south coast. We stayed as part of our two day SC tour and were pleasantly surprised. It was dark when we arrived but the view was spectacular in the morning of the mountains and sunrise over the coast. The room was very clean, beds were comfortable and was lovely and warm for a stormy February evening! The evening food was ok, limited choices but did cater for vegan diet. Breakfast was standard but good - bread, fruit/veg, meat, cheese, oatmeal. Enough to set you up for the day! Overall a great place to stop for one or two nights on the South Coast!

The hotel is very close to the glacier lake and diamond beach, and it takes about ten minutes to drive. The hotel is very quiet at night in a small town. The room is very large, about 40 square meters, bath water or geothermal water. In addition to the accommodation room, the hotel also has a separate drying room for drying clothes (the taste inside is conceivable) for drying the soaked objects of the passengers. There are also coffee and tea in the public tea break area for guests to enjoy. Breakfast is also a more plentiful and very good hotel. Attached is a photograph of the breakfast restaurant hanging, but unfortunately I did not take such a beautiful scenery throughout the process.
The Old Airline Guesthouse is an extremely nice guesthouse at a great value. It is situated strategically between two of Iceland most majestic sites, the Vatnajökull Glacier/Iceberg Lagoon and Hvalnes Nature Reserve. The Old Airline Guesthouse owner and host Sigga was absolutely wonderful. My wife and I had a small but awesome room with a view overlooking the Hofn bay area. Patrons can also enjoy a similar view in the upstairs common area. Local shops and restaurants are within walking distance. A continental breakfast is included in your stay. Being a guesthouse you do share a bathroom, other than that the Old Airline Guesthouse is truly a gem worth staying.
The service staff is a man and a woman, and they are very eye-catching, which makes me very useful for this kind of face control. The service attitude is also warmer than the average front desk, and the goodwill suddenly doubles. The breakfast is good, there are many breeds, and the cute little shepherd dog is very smart and very well-behaved. The room facilities are very complete, the room decoration is also very new, free parking, I highly recommend this.
The location of the apartment is very good. The main entrance faces the sea. The key is on the door. There is a walkie-talkie at the entrance on the first floor. If you have something, you can ask the triple room entrance here. You can park behind the house. Self-driving cars can park behind the house. There is also a parking lot in front of the door. The kitchen utensils of the apartment are very clean, the room can accommodate 6 people, and the room layout is very warm. There are no toiletries, you have to bring your own. The seafood restaurant across the road from the apartment tastes good.
We were a family (3 couples) traveling Iceland together for 8 days. My son planned the trip, we flew into Keflavik Airport got a rental car and drove to our furthest point Ekra Lodge so we could spend the week working our way back sightseeing. We booked 2 rooms here each had 3 single beds, bathroom and coffee station. The beds were amazing super comfortable and the pillows were amazing. We arrived about 2:30 a.m. and we had a great view of the Northern Lights which was very cool to see. We were all exhausted so we pretty much got to our rooms and we all passed out. It was dark so we really couldn't see the surroundings. The owners have everything as let yourself in with code which was nice, we were super quiet so we didn't wake any other guests. I believe there are 5 total units all different prices and sizes, we had what we needed. The next a.m. the shower pressure was amazing as was the entire shower. We all got ready and walked outside and well-ahhh what a view. The backside of the home there were 2 waterfalls and a spectacular mountain view behind the house then when you looked straight forward there was a huge white topped glacier over a vast green field, it looked like a postcard, has to be incredible to wake up to that view each day, it almost looked fake it was so pretty. We took alot of pictures before we hit the road for breakfast. I only wish we had arrived a bit sooner to enjoy the place a bit more, there is a huge balcony up top that has several chairs and the view is again amazing. I highly recommend this place is you need for 1 night super quiet and each suite had guests and plenty of space for 5-6 cars with no issues.

Outstanding
Very nice stay while driving the ring road. The property sits at he base of a peninsula jutting into the sea. Very picturesque. The staff was very accommodating as well. Be sure to take advantage of their happy hour and enjoy their deck. the views are really nice. All of the restaurants in town are within a five minute walk, so you have choices. The diner across the street was actually very good and reasonably priced.
GGuest UserLong story that I will try to summarize as best as I can. We visited the guesthouse August 28th, paid a high rate as it was summer but the location was good and the space was comfortable for 4 people. I would have given this place a great review if it weren’t for what happened afterwards. The only issue we had was the sofa bed was uncomfortable. The next morning we very briefly took the mattress off the sofa bed (it was a very simple set up, just two Velcro straps attached to the base frame for easy assembly). We put it back exactly how it was shortly after. We then notice a man is outside our window looking in. My partner looked out the window and made eye contact, we found it very odd that someone was hanging around but just assumed maybe he was on the phone and didn’t realize people were in the room. A few minutes later we heard a knock on the door and it was the same man. He was very frustrated and agitated, asking us several times what our “problem” was. We said we had no problem everything was good. He then again asked rudely what our problem was and we were confused and said why do you think there is a problem? He then shows us a picture he took from outside our window INTO our room showing the mattress off the sofa bed. We were very shocked and uncomfortable that this man had taken a picture into our room, we had 3 girls inside getting ready for the day and thought this was very inappropriate. We explained to him again that there was no issue we just had to adjust the mattress and put it back exactly as it was before. We closed the door on and made a reminder to let the owner know when we got back from the trip of this negative experience. I thought they would be understanding and apologetic. I reached out to the owner upon returning home, a week after our stay. Explaining that we felt uncomfortable having a strange man hanging around outside (this was hours before check out too), taking pictures, being rude when he never explained who he was or what he was doing there. To my surprise, they were defensive and gave no apology. They are now threatening to contact *********** to charge me for damage (conveniently they are claiming this a week later, not right after our stay) when I have proof nothing was damaged. I never write bad reviews but wanted to warn others of this experience.
大大峰尖之子It is a very good choice. Although it is a shared bathroom, it is not inconvenient at all. When I booked it, I didn’t bring breakfast, but it was actually provided. Although the hotel is not big, it feels very warm, just in the town. All aspects are very convenient.
Fantastic apartment, spacious, very well furnished, also equipped with a fairly large television, induction cooker, kitchen top and very large living area, very spacious shower, two sinks so as not to force those who book to take turns to use the bathroom, just a few steps away from a pizzeria and a restaurant with parking space underneath, highly recommended
GGuest UserWe spent just one night but we loved the accommodation. As a family of 3 we booked a private room with a private bathroom and loved the space. The hostel itself is very clean and in a residential neighbourhood. Everyone who was staying was very nice and the communal kitchen was easily accessible to everyone. We walked to the town and that was very doable. The town is quiet but there are a number of things to see in the area. We really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend it.
GGuest User250€ a night and the rooms are completely HORRIBLE, small, depressing, smells, awful shower, just the worst one in Iceland. The food at the restaurant is overpriced and gross. The bed was uncomfortable and the room was so dark and dingy. Staff at breakfast is hostile by the way, be careful.. Hotel Geysir charges 70€ more than this place and you get to experience luxury and premium accomodation. While Hotel Höfn would not even rank as a roadside MOTEL in my experience. Charging almost the same price of a premium hotel when really this place should be no more than 150€ a night. These people need to get down to earth, their hotel ain't all that. Stay somewhere else if you can...
JJIEThe hotel is located next to the gas station at the entrance to the town and the rooms are simple and clean. There are supermarkets and various handicraft shops nearby. It is especially recommended that the restaurants in the town eat lobsters. Each has its own characteristics. In short, it is worth living in the town for two days.
Sshiyin7729Advantages: clean and hygienic. Good location, close to the lobster shop. Disadvantages: The room is small, the most amazing thing is that the curtains are only 20cm long. We just lived on the first floor, a short curtain, and the clothes could not be changed. Iceland is so long every day, how do people sleep? I didn’t care if I called the boss, but I later negotiated through Ctrip. But the curtain problem still can't be solved. The door lock of the bath is also bad. You can only ask your friends to look outside when taking a shower. I chose this house for a long time, and I was speechless to myself.
JJIEHepburn really had to set the hotel early, because it was too late, so I lived in two places with my friends. I thought this cheap would be very bad. The result was much better than I thought. Although it was a public bathroom, the small apartment felt neat. The kitchen equipment is all available. It is a good choice for overnight stays. The neighbors are of high quality. The used utensils are cleaned up and quiet. They are much quieter than each other. It is much better than another hotel with more than 2,000.
JJade García ArrebolaMuy buena estancia, dispone de cocina.
La única pega es que tengas que ir a hacer el check in a otra Guesthouse... Cuando puedes hacer un auto check in.
