"If you're arriving in Hakodate on a snowy day, choosing JR Inn is an excellent decision. You can find the hotel right after exiting the JR station! I booked this hotel mainly for its convenience, and it certainly delivered. The self-service breakfast was just okay, and the conveyor belt sushi was also pretty standard. You can definitely tell there's a high volume of guests. The room size is generous by Japanese standards. I didn't get to use the public bath, so I can't comment on that. The price was very reasonable, and I had a great two days in Hakodate."
"Excellent hotel. The rooftop infinity pool, hot spring, terrace bath, sea breeze, and Hakodate night view were incredibly relaxing. I used the baths both in the evening and in the morning. There's a scenic bar lounge that offers coffee. The room had a private washer/dryer and a microwave. The breakfast offered was great value, allowing you to choose a restaurant at the adjacent seafood market. However, I didn't opt for it because I wanted to try catching squid and grilling it, and also having crab shabu-shabu – this morning market is truly the best for seafood. Disposable slippers were provided, which many Japanese hotels don't offer."
"Conveniently located in front of Hakodate Station! You can walk to the morning market, Red Brick Warehouses, Honcho, and the ropeway station. The hotel breakfast is amazing, featuring seafood bowls and Hakodate ramen, plus you can enjoy champagne 🍾 and wine 🍷. The coffee ☕️ from Mirei is a real highlight. In the evenings, head to the rooftop bar for a drink!"
"The hotel is conveniently located just minutes from the JR station. The breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of delicious options. We particularly enjoyed the spacious and uncrowded rooftop onsen, which was incredibly relaxing. Our room was also very large and spotlessly clean."
"The room was spacious and clean. Coming from Tokyo, it felt incredibly roomy; we could easily open two large suitcases on the floor. At the front desk, you could help yourself to a selection of toiletries and even skincare products. The breakfast was fantastic, featuring sashimi and freshly peeled shrimp. The room was very quiet at night, ensuring a peaceful sleep. The only minor issue was that the curtains weren't thick enough; the direct morning sun would stream in and wake me up instantly, so I had to sleep with an eye mask. The hotel is very close to the beach, less than a 10-minute walk away. The beach itself was amazing – uncrowded with beautiful scenery!"
"Cons:
This hotel is consist of south block, north block and main block. They don’t connect each other on the upper floors. My room is at the south block. I have to pass through the smoking area, with poor ventilation that the smoke actually leaks to the aisle. The aisle and lobby at the south block looks old and does not look like an ordinary hotel that should have.
I lived on the 13th floor and was surprised this is the only floor that no microwave oven provided. The water-flow is below average. It is one of the weakest among the hotels I visited so far.
The pillows are bad, too small and not comfortable for sleeping.
Pros: The room is big. Some equipments are high quality. The room inside is overall nice"
"This hotel is absolutely perfect! I was a bit hesitant at first because it's a walk from the JR station, unlike JR Inn hotels that are right outside the exit. But I definitely made the right choice. It has a kitchen, and the cabinets are stocked with all sorts of pots and utensils. Just grab a pot and some beef from the supermarket, and you can make sukiyaki or yakiniku – it's just amazing!"
"I was very satisfied with this hotel (except for the room being really small and the heating being super hot, haha, but that's a common issue in Japanese hotels). Let me talk about the things worth praising. There's an unlimited supply of coffee, matcha, and milk every day right in the lobby downstairs. Coming back and having a cup was just perfect, incredibly warming on a cold winter day. And the breakfast, wow, it's absolutely top-notch! The breakfast always features fresh catches of the day, and it's truly delightful to be so satisfied first thing in the morning. Paired with their special Meiling coffee, the whole experience was fantastic!"
"The hotel is really worth the price!
Cleanliness: good! Nearly perfect; there are still some hairs inside the toilet, but the rest is really good! Keep it up!
Facilities: They have free water to drink near the elevator. I really love that! They also have an express checkout box in front of the hotel to save time! The wifi is good.
The design is also minimal and luxurious~~
they also have shoes adjustment stick!
the staff: They’re nice and do their jobs perfectly!
Location: It’s around a 6-7 min walk from JR Sapporo, and they have a delicious place to hang out next to the hotel!
space: my room has a semi-double bed, so it’s slightly bigger than usual. It’s a normal Japan hotel size! If you are tall or have a big body, you might find it’s uncomfortable, but for me it’s fine, and there’s some space to pack my luggage!"
"Hakodate Kokusai Hotel is an established hotel. While it has been recently renovated, and the lobby and public areas are bright and modern, there's a huge disparity in the condition and age between different parts of the hotel and room types. Rooms in the main building are noticeably newer, whereas those in the West Wing feel quite dated, almost from another era. My visit coincided with a Japanese holiday, so hotel prices had soared. I ended up paying main building rates for a room in the West Wing. While the room was passably clean, a distinct dusty smell lingered in the air. The facilities were outdated and inconvenient to use, and the room itself was quite cramped. Overall, my stay was quite disappointing. If only rooms in the West Wing are available, I would strongly recommend choosing a different hotel."

GGuest UserThis place is boozhy, in a good way. Service is impeccable! The dorm is huge, but this increases the risk in sharing with inconsiderate ******. Someone's phone was going off repeatedly early in the morning, and people going in and out constantly at all times. Hotels need to silence the latch that makes so much noise when people are going in and out. Other things to improve on: if you're going to make us remove shoes then have softer, more comfortable carpet. Having to go downstairs to go to the bathroom. Not good. The mattress is questionable. My back was sore when I would wake up in the morning.
Outside of these necessary improvements, the place is awesome. Free towels every day! This is unheard of in hostels. Rooftop hangout is impressive. The chairs in the lobby are very comfortable.
MMiyahamIt was absolutely wonderful!
The location was great and parking was easy to find.
The front desk was very friendly and the welcome drinks were amazing! I ended up having the soft-serve ice cream several times.
The rooms were clean. Freshly ground coffee is a great thing for coffee lovers.
Dinner was a 10-piece nigiri sushi course, which was delicious.
I was also very satisfied with the variety of options available for breakfast.
The daikon dengaku was great.
More than anything, I love the name ”Wara” (laughing).
I'd love to stay here again if I visit Hakodate.
CCpeiLocated right beside Hakodate Station, airport bus arrive straight right beside it, super easy to access Hakodate Station, tram, walking distance to convenient stores and restaurants. The hotel is spacious, clean and very comfortable. Staffs are very polite and helpful. Onsen is so nice. I recommend this hotel.
YYZKWe stayed at LC Goryokaku Hotel during our family trip to Hakodate and were pleasantly surprised by how well it suited our needs. The location is fantastic—just a short walk from Goryokaku Park and the Tower, which made it easy for us to explore the area with our kids without needing transportation all the time.
The room was clean, spacious enough for a small family, and had thoughtful touches like slippers, toiletries, and even a small seating area where we could unwind. The beds were comfortable, and we appreciated the quiet at night, which made it easy for the children to fall asleep.
The hotel also offers free drinks in the lounge, which was a nice touch, and there's a laundry area, which is very useful when traveling with kids.
AAnonymous UserHakodate is one of the main cities on Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. Looming over the town is 334m-high Mount Hakodate. The mountain's summit, reachable by aerial ropeway gondola, offers dramatic nighttime views. At its base is Motomachi, a neighborhood of steep streets with Western-style, early-20th-century buildings. A city landmark is the grand Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, built in 1910.
エエゾシカ伝道師The staff at the inn were warm and moderate, and I was very comfortable.
While there were many non-smoking rooms, the companion who was a smoker was very happy.
In addition, the correspondence of the odor remaining in the room is also firm, and I think it can be comfortable.
It's a hot spring, but you can get the power of the source.
It is a hot spring of great satisfaction!
I want to enter again ♪
GGuest UserThe room itself was a little bit small and quite cramped. Just about enough space for one. But if you are plus sized it might seem too small. The toilet was also slightly narrow.
Facilities were great, with onsen available. Within touching distance of the local public street car and bus stop. Front desk were really friendly and helpful despite the limited English spoken. They also operate early from 8am till fairly late 10pm. And the nearest konbini was also only about 200m away.
