"This was our second time staying here. The hotel is conveniently situated close to JR Line, restaurant and shops.
Check-in was quick, and the staff were polite and helpful. I really appreciate how consistent the service has been on both visits.
Overall, this hotel remains my go-to in the area because of its convenience, cleanliness, and reliable quality. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next trip in Nagano."
"Toyoko Inn is always my go to when travelling outside of Tokyo. Location is always fantastic, rooms are clean, beds comfortable and you get everything you need (including breakfast)."
"Very good experience at this hotel, good for a short stay. Everything was very well organized and professional, the staffs were quite lovely, rooms were clean and comfortable and everything worked well.. great location."
"The hotel is conveniently located just over a 10-minute walk from the train station, and Shogakuji Temple is within walking distance. Downstairs, just a few steps away, is a bustling food street with Japanese restaurants, ramen shops, izakayas, cafes, convenience stores, and drugstores. The hotel's rooftop restaurant offers a breathtaking 270-degree view of the Northern Alps, with fresh, abundant ingredients, including many local Shinshu specialties. The front desk service is prompt and the staff are always warm and attentive. For such a prime location and excellent amenities, the price is surprisingly affordable, offering incredible value for money. As always, I love Nikko hotels!"
"This hotel is right next to Nagano Station, making check-in super convenient. The rooms are simple, clean, and tidy. If you exit the station and turn left, it's just a two-minute walk. Don Quijote is directly across the street, perfect for some enjoyable late-night shopping. Even snow isn't an issue here. The hotel price is also quite reasonable and good value for money. Satisfied."
"I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Kokusai 21. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable — I slept so well during my time there. The overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing, making it a great place to unwind after a long day. I’ll definitely come back the next time I’m in Nagano. Highly recommended!"
"It's a great time to spend a night in this hotel. A little bit far from nagano station (15min walk) 800m - 1km. But it trades off with the price. Price is much cheaper than the one in 200-300m distance from Nagano Station. We even got a massage chair in our room and it's quite big. The room is a double bed room and we slept well.
We planned to stay for 2 nights but we reserved a terrible hotel (Livemax hotel) with twice of the price in Chisun."
"One of the bigger hotel rooms I have stayed in Japan so far. Free welcome cake and drink, free unlimited ice cream during your stay and a small treat when checking out. They also have the most variety of tea available for you to enjoy during your stay.
The hotel is also quite close to the Nagano station. You can see the hotel building when you exit the East exit."
"We chose a double room, which was very very good. The room we stayed in was spacious, not cramped, clean, and the bed was comfortable. When you walk down the stairs in front of the hotel, there is a 7-Eleven, which is very convenient. However, if you drag your luggage to Nagano train station, it will take about 10-15 minutes, but it is not a big obstacle. If you have a car, the hotel has a parking lot, but you have to drive for about 5 minutes. Overall, it is okay. I am very satisfied with this hotel."
"The location is super convenient, right outside the east exit of Nagano Station once you come down the skywalk. The building is very distinctive and easy to spot, and there's a 7-Eleven right next door. The room was clean and tidy, and very quiet. The only minor thing is that the bathroom faucet is an older model with separate hot and cold handles."

Amazing
GGuest UserOur stay at Shukubo Gokui was incredible. So much history and spirit, and although we spoke very little Japanese we were greeted warmly by the family. Every breakfast and dinner served was so thoughtfully presented and delicious. The onsite bath is very clean and almost like a private onsen. The room was warm and comfortable, and it was magical to be in the space with the winter snow piling outside. The location cannot be any better, very near the beautiful Chusha Shrine, on the path to the other shrines in Togakushi, within walking distance to the town Onsen and ski resort, and probably one of the closest lodgings to the bus stop. The original structure is from 1815 with thoughtful updates to make the space comfortable and warm. That foreigners and visitors are allowed to stay at Shokubo Gokui that has been so thoughtfully cared for by the family for years is incredibly special, an experience we will remember for a long time. I hope we can return again.
BBarz ChenI was very lucky to book the last room on Saturday. Although the evaluation on the trip was not high, the evaluation on Google map was excellent and it was better than expected. I had the opportunity to come to Huyin and stay again. Thank you for everyone received by the hotel. It made me have a very pleasant journey.
GGuest UserHotel is about a 5-10 min walk from Nagano Station. Very convenient. Check in was through a machine with help from the friendly staff. Check out was really quick.
The rooms are bigger than we expected and everything we need was there. Bed was comfortable and we slept through well. Plus plus.
Overall, it was a good value, good location and comfortable stay for us.
Will not hesitate to return.
KKs TamThe location is great and it is well maintained. I stayed in the 4 beds female dorm, it was spacious. The bed was big with a little desk at one side of the bed for organising personal items. Each bed has their own charging pod. There are some limitations though: the lift can't be used so suitcases are moved up via staircase. I have to go down to the 2nd floor for the bathroom and toilet. I am not sure how many people are sharing them but I never need to wait an they are clean.
GGuest User1) Location: Get off at Zhongshe and walk about 3-400 meters. You can reach it in a straight line.
2) Hotel: Decorated in the 1980s-1990s, there is no heating in the corridor, but there is heating in the room, and the temperature is suitable. There is no bathing in the hotel. The hot spring is in a large covered tub. There is no heating in the shower room and toilet.
3) Meals: You can order them at the hotel. The boss’s skills are pretty good and delicious, but not very cheap.
[Five-star recommendation] Try to avoid bringing a trolley suitcase in winter. The road is too difficult to walk. It is uphill to get to the hotel. I arrived at night and fell a few times. It was too painful.
AAnton VoroshilinThis is an extremely cosy place, but I would not dare describe it as luxurious. It is dated and simple, with the most basic amenities.
However, I liked it a lot. The best part about this ryokan is its owner, an elderly man. He truly puts his heart and soul into his establishment. He even suggested to give us a ride to the station, however the weather was nice and we decided to walk instead.
I'd like to highlight the breakfast: it was gorgeous, given the price. I'd even say it tasted better than a ¥3000 dinner I had at some local restaurant.
The whole experience felt like visiting your grandparents, who live in a village, during the summer.
IIvanReceptionist was very friendly, recommending places to eat and things to do. Room was clean. The washing machine is free to use. Bed was very soft and comfortable. Location is about 15-20 mins walk from nagano station. And about 10 mins walk to zenkoji temple, you can wake up early and walk to see the early morning prayer that occurs at sunrise.
Lots of food options as it is beside gondo shopping street
Aastro.sergiuThis is a truly authentic experience! Cosy, with traditional furniture and bed, whilst still offering very comfortable options it's the best of both worlds. Plus, the view is among the best in town and the breakfast is authentic and charming. It was a beautiful experience to say here and the fact the hosts did not speak English actually added to the experience. I'd be sure to visit again next time I'm in Nagano.
