"It is located quite far away, it is difficult to combine it with a trip to any attractions. In winter, buses go to the village only a few times a day, and the village itself looks deserted. But the hotel itself is great. Wooden building, but everything is in very good condition. 2 onsen, one with a view of a beautiful small garden. On the 2nd floor there is a chill zone with cool acoustics. Despite the minus outside, it was warm. Well, the full set: traditional rooms with tatami and futons, traditional clothing, cool dinner / breakfast. There are places to walk in the area, so it might be a good idea to stay here for a couple of nights, but probably not in winter."
"I enjoyed the chartered state by saying that it was the end of the consecutive holidays. The inn is also kind and nothing to say. I wish the amenities were a little more substantial."
"Great place, very friendly staff. The master's son speaks English perfectly! Very cozy Rikan with a small but beautiful Onsen. Kaiseki's dinner was very enjoyable!"
"The staff's customer service attitude was good. The building was also clean and tidy, and left a good impression with its cleanliness. There was a discrepancy when checking the reservation status, but a satisfactory explanation was given and I was able to check in without any problems. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfactory, and the rice in particular was delicious, and I really felt the benefits of ”Gorogoro Mizu.” The only thing that was disappointing was the loud creaking sound made by the indoor toilet door when it was opened and closed. The hot spring was also well kept, and I enjoyed my morning bath. It was great."
"We were absolutely delighted with the ryokan. The owner is very nice and good-natured. Everywhere is perfectly clean, the linen and yukata are snow-white and smell fresh. Two layers of tatami, super comfortable to sleep. The room is spacious, bright and cozy. The wood flooring in the onsen/wash area has been updated. Tea, treats and kaiseki are all delicious! Thanks for taking care of me!"
"Check-in after 15:00. The staff are very friendly, including those who speak English at a sufficient level so that you can understand each other without a translator. The room is spacious, heated/cooled by air conditioning. There is also a kotatsu, under which it is very comfortable to sit, a tea set, including a kettle. Yukata and khvori are very beautiful and comfortable. In the room there is also a memo for foreigners on the correct visit to the onsen (be sure to read it, this is important). There are only two onsen - one large with a view of the river (there are curtains) and one smaller without windows. The water is moderately hot, not scalding. As a dinner, kaiseki was provided with a change of dishes - it was very tasty and VERY much (honestly, we could not eat everything, since we usually eat much less, for which we apologize to the staff)"
"I did a one night stay and 2 nights before I go, I called the owner to request him to add breakfast and dinner to my booking. He mentioned that he could fix something simple if I didn't mind as his wife would be busy. He offered to pick me up from Shimoichiguchi station when he knew I was going by train. After picking me up, he brought me to a famous temple on the way. It was not somewhere I could visit without driving so I was appreciative. He explained that the house was left behind by his mother and he decided to convert it to a guesthouse last year. There is a famous shrine with a Noh stage within 10 mins walk from the guesthouse and I went there twice as there was a procession at 8am the next morning. There is also Amano river where waters are clear and fishermen can be seen occasionally. Dinner will eventually still prepared by the owner's wife. Food was fresh and delicious. I had beef stew with whole grain rice and several side dishes from the town. As the nearby onsen was closed until June, I decided to visit Dorogawa onsen during checkout. The owner offered to drive me there at no charges. The guesthouse was tastefully converted from a 2 century old house with a nice fusion of new and old. Guests could use the living area with stove heating, bar counter, bathroom and toilets. There are only 2 bedrooms so chances are, you can get some peaceful relaxation. The owner speaks limited English but he uses an electronic pocket tool to help him communicate with overseas guest. His room rates are very very reasonable and he and his wife are both very kind and friendly. They really go all out to make your stay pleasant so give the guesthouse a try. The owner heard I wanted to see stars though I told him I did not expect to since the weather forecast was cloudy. He checked the skies at 9pm and told me that some stars could be seen and took me to a dark stargazing spot nearby. I was happy as I managed to take some decent photos."
"The food is really delicious. I was impressed that I could only taste it here. I also received delicious rice balls as souvenirs.
I would like to go next year."
"Very good experience, the room is very large, and there is a private soup. Every day, I soak in the private soup and watch the snow scene, it is like a fairyland on earth! Breakfast and dinner are very rich!"
