We came to Yanagawa to see and ride on the old canals and stayed at this authentic Japanese hotel for a night . Nice place right beside the canal where you can see the boats going by. There were three of us so we had a big room, one part Western with two single beds the other part was a Japanese tatami mat room where the staff made up a bed on the floor while we were at dinner. Booking in was easy and staff super polite which is the normal in Japan. Before dinner we went to the hot springs bath and relaxed in the lovely hot waters. We had booked in for dinner 6.30 pm. in the main dining room , we went in the Yukata’s that the hotel provided, very relaxing. Dinner was a set menu, typical Japanese food, about ten little bowls containing different items, miso soup, different Sashimi’s, chicken , pickles , eel, which this area is famous for and another lovely small fried fish, plenty to fill you up and for sweets a huge piece of water melon. The room did have a bath and shower but didn’t use them as we used the hot spring baths, there was free wifi, a safe and good TV. Slept well. First thing in the morning we went to the outside hot bath before going and enjoying a smorgasbord breakfast. In the Rockpool baths they supply all you need , body soap , shampoo, conditioner, hairdryers etc, always a nice experience. Typical Japanese breakfast , no cereals but plenty to choose from. We had trout and puffer fish, plenty of veggies, the scrambled egg was scrumptious. Plenty of fruit, mango , orange and delicious pineapple. While we went of doing a boat ride on the canals the hotel held our luggage for us, very handy. The hotel also has a good gift shop. We enjoyed our stay, gives you a real Japanese hotel experience.
We stayed at the Ohana for three nights in a Western room. The hotel also has Japanese style rooms. The room was large, clean and had a great view over the garden. The lack of cupboards or shelves meant we had to put our clothes on the floor. Japanese hotels often have limited storing space for clothes, but the Ohana took it a bit further. Wlan was fast and free. The staff is polite, very friendly and helpful. Parking is free and the staff reserves spots for the guests. A set Japanese breakfast at 7.30 or 8.00, no other options. The Japanese breakfast was extensive and of excellent quality, the western breakfast we got served the second day was also very good. The hotel has a two person public bath and free transport and entrance to a much larger onsen with extensive facilities. Hard to compare this hotel with a regular hotel because of its specific character. I would certainly recommend staying here.
I came to Kyushu at the end of the year and the beginning of the year and looked for a hotel near Fukuoka Tenjin to go to Dazaifu on New Year's Day, but I was here because it was expensive and Yanagawa was cheaper than Tenjin, and the train flight was good. 1 night 8300 yen was cheaper than the center of Fukuoka, and it was convenient for sightseeing within 1 hours by train for the distance to go to Dazaifu the next day. It is a few minutes walk from the station to the hotel (the opposite direction to the shuttle bus stop down the boat). The room was also very good for the price.
Yanagawa is a peaceful and beautiful water town. This is an old-style hot spring hotel with older but clean facilities. Rich breakfast and attentive service. The hotel gives away a coupon of 1,000 yen per person, which can be used to participate in the river cruise activities organized by the hotel. Great!

I was worried because it was my first time traveling alone, but both owners were very nice and the neighborhood was quiet, so it was really nice. Since I arrived early in the morning, I asked if I could leave my luggage there, and they gladly agreed. I especially loved being able to enjoy a traditional Japanese ryokan and breakfast at this price (the grilled eel was especially delicious to the point of tears)! We were able to create happy memories by letting us try on a yukata and experience writing with a brush on various kinds of Korean paper. I was very satisfied because I felt like I was living in a Japanese home. If you come to Yanagawa, other than boating and grilled eel, it would be nice to stay for 1-2 nights and take your time to see the pretty town☺️ I don't often leave reviews like this, but I really wanted to leave one because I felt like the owners really treat their customers with respect. Next time I will come with a friend. Thank you for leaving me with meaningful memories♡
It's best. I don't want to be known to Koreans. Hot spring water to relieve skin disease and fantastic breakfast are also delicious kaiseki dishes. I really like it. 2nd visit

HHanna LeongAs a waitress who is working in the fast pace environment, I would really like to stay in Yanagawa for a few days. This is a town which makes my mind relax, quiet and peaceful. Hope to come here again in the future.

JJimJunLouLiuchuan City has not been repaired, which is related to the frustration of the generation of the god of war Lihua Zongmao in his later years, and pays more attention to building temples (in fact, I am afraid that the Tokugawa Shogunate is not assured, who let Lihua family from male to female, everyone can play so well). The castle, which was originally a small scale, has now completely become the campus of Liuchuan Elementary School, Junior High School and High School. And it can be seen that the rate of admission is quite high, which is considered a famous school.
