The Hotel Plaza Bamburi beach. 'Just wonderful' Just returned from a fortnight in this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it' The accommodation its self is a least on par with many european resort hotels,it is immaculately clean.The staff are very friendly, even more so if you tip.If you are on a tight budget sign for your drinks and pay at the end of your holiday.The food is good with a superb English breakfast every morning(you really dont need lunch)the evening meal was sometmes a little disappointing(nothing wrong with the quality just the variety) , i am quite a fussy eater . The soups were always excellent,however.The head chef was very helpful, when i caught a large kingfish ,he had it cooked for the whole hotel.The hotel has a nice pool which is great for cooling off in, and the sun bathing area is well designed with coconut palms filtering out a little of the heat in the breeze(just too hot to lie in other wise ). Dont be afraid to book your trips of the beach boys the, rep will tell you scare stories to ensure your business, but we booked a 3 day two night safari through Harrison at a substaintail saving (Chico is a top bloke too}and we were delighted with the whole thing. we paid £160 each one night voi lodge tsavo east , one night ngalia lodge tsavo west.The rep wanted £210 for same trip. If you are interested in doing some deep sea fishing ,i must recommend John and Ken Rodwell, they are based in Mtapwa creek.The hotel should be able to get a number for you, if not ask the beach boys for charlie brown and he will sort it out for you. I had a exceptional days fishing with 12kg kingfish 23.5kg sailfish and 60kg black marlin.At the time of writing the boat cost £240 per day so you might want to get three buddies to share the cost. By the way i never go to the same place twice on holiday, but i will be coming back here to this hotel next year, nuff said !

The overall feeling is good, the hotel has a swimming pool, spa, gym, and there are many restaurants near the sea, which is quite convenient. There are also supermarkets, but you have to take a taxi, but not far away. . 🍃Environment: basically everything 🔔Service: good

The hotel is very large, there are few dining restaurants, and the reservation is for dinner. The price is very high. The hotel has to take a taxi to go out, can not walk, there is a little distance from the sea, the next few hotels are very expensive. This business is not good, so make it cheaper

I very enjoyed the place and the people so nice with me An i like the food. But I only have one bad new someone stole my watch in my room on the second day

Stayed here for 3 nights on holidays. I cant understand some of the reviews to be honest. My room was beautiful, huge bed, tv worked and the shower was great ( hot water too) This is Kenya and people forget that. I had some problems with wi-fi and the hotel needs to address that. The pool area is nice but they are still finishing off some new rooms at the front. Some noise.Great views while eating breakfast looking at the Indian ocean. They need more sunbeds around the pool. I found the staff around the pool to be super friendly and the breakfast good. When the work is finished it will be brilliant. I would stay here again without question. I first visited this prestigious hotel in 2003, and I was immediately impressed by the warm hospitality. One of the receptionists welcomed me with a cocktail as I waited for more information. Later, I enjoyed a refreshing soft drink at one of the hotel’s restaurants while watching the lively scene around the pool. The highlight of my visit was the barbecue, which had a delightful aroma and tasted absolutely delicious. Afterward, I took a leisurely stroll through the well-maintained garden, admiring the care put into its upkeep by the gardener. The hotel staff were efficient, friendly, and made my experience truly enjoyable. This week, in celebration of Customer Service Week, I was treated to complimentary cocktails and snacks. I even had the privilege of being introduced to the entire hotel staff and management, which was a lovely touch. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mombasa. The exceptional service and attention to detail make it a place worth returning to.

The sea view room has nothing to say, live on the first floor, push the door to go to the beach, the waiters are also very enthusiastic

It's a bit of a trip from the airport so best to book an a/c car. The resort itself is one of the best in the area. Check-in was smooth and welcoming. Plenty of food options during breakfast/lunch/dinner. And special requests can be made in advance to the crew for dietary requirements [special veg/vegan]. two restaurants, both provide same food options. All inclusive drinks are normal juices, and alcoholic drinks are local brands. Others available but we found the local drinks better. Everything is literally cleaned daily. Clientele are international, so not only locals. So plenty of people sunbathing etc, a relaxed atmosphere, which is not felt on my other visit to Mombasa. One can wear bikinis around the pool and not feel awkward, unlike other resorts in Mombasa. Sun beds can be reserved with a towel. Poolside showers available. Rooms were clean spacious. Shower was not cramped and nice warm water when needed. beds are super comfy. and very quiet. For multi rooms with interconnecting doors, its best to book early and state to the resort you would like connecting rooms. our room was ground floor pool facing. there was some nice from poolside and music, but the view is great and quicker access to reception/pool. Each room has 2 water bottles, changed daily. I would recommend the all inclusive option. Mid meal snacks also available around the main pool area. Beach is good for walks and small kids. Local beach sales persons are pestering but go away if you ignore them and tell them no. There are guards at the beach entrance and some walking around the property, providing security. All items worked as they should, no loose fittings [hand rails, taps, handles etc]. If I visit Mombasa again I will 100% stay here again and would recommended it to anyone. I would recommend a stay of minimum 2 nights. I could stay there for weeks.
