"The king rooms are updated and cleaner than the old rooms, the only problem I have is the room I booked clearly showed a room with a hot tub but for $70 I should have known better but still don't false advertise, some people will see that an be very upset when they realize there's not a hot tub in here, the lamps, bed and room decor are excellent and the bathroom was also clean which is what everyone expects and wants and the lady up front wasn't even that rude to me this time lol seriously though Howard is in the top 6 or 7 hotels available in Salem I enjoy the views and a majority of the time the rooms I'm placed in! "

"Great location for our trip! We were within 5 miles of our destination. The hotel allows smoking still which for us is not great to walk smelly hallways. The room decor was nice, but the mirrors were smudged and the lamps really dusty. Microwave and mini fridge work, but no coffee maker. The property is old, but for our couples night in Roanoke it served its purpose. Waffle House is next door and that was great the morning of checkout! Overall we would stay again all we needed is a bed and a shower. 2.5 of 5 stars. Needs work and better staff at front desk."

"The service was great. A little disappointed with the breakfast. There was a little smell of mildew in the room. Turned off the heater and it was better. Beds were very comfortable. Wanted to take it home with me."

"I am handicap, my room was on the second floor, no elevator and I had to carry my bags upstairs... As far as food, all they had was coffee and a honey bun."

"We checked in somewhat late and spent only one night here on our way down south, so we were not picky. With that, I have to warn you if internet access is a dealbreaker to you, because our room on the second floor had no internet at all (although the TV worked just fine). Breakfast (6 AM to 9 AM) was okay. My kids enjoyed the waffles."
