there were fees that were unexpected , I was not aware of the fees. Thought with a $1500 cost it would be included. I know i will not be staying at the Cliff again. And at that cost I still had to do dishes and vacuum and wash towels. will not mention the cliffs to family and friends.I did like the shower heads, and that there were handicap showers for my auntie.we did request a shower chair , which help her shower. I did not like all the chickens and the mess they left behind and noise.some areas needed more lighting on the walk way and the signs with room numbers. needed more lighting on the main drive inn entrance .we were told to open the sliding glass doors for a nice breeze, but did not feel good while sleeping.didnt feel safe leaving drapes wide open, for security reasons.your trash situation needs improvement, trash area always full that includes the recycling area.the walk to the cliff area was great and had a nice view, sat there for hours and enjoyed the view.the pool area was nice and clean and security was alot nicer and excerise room was nice and clean.
For the cost of the hotel, the experience is disappointing as a result of the bad service of the staff. The service of the front desk, concierge and bar staff (all located in the lobby) is very good but once you get out of the lobby everything changes, the staff is not attentive and the service is that of a 2-star hotel. At the pool I had to go out twice to ask for a couple of beers because the waitress I asked for them forgot to talk to other customers (half an hour waiting for a beer), at breakfast the waiters are literally more concerned with cleaning tables than by taking guests' order. The restaurant was almost empty and yet they leave guests waiting for a table and when you finally sit down you have to fight for the waiter to see you and once you do, he asks you to wait and starts collecting dishes from other tables. Outside my room we found the day of our check-in some dirty glasses and plates which were never removed during our entire stay, nobody supervises the cleanliness or the quality. The only thing that is worth it is the view from the pool and the beach, but for the price of the hotel we expected much more, there is a Westin nearby and it is surely a better option.

The Hotel Coral Reef was a disappointment, as was the whole trip. The family who managed the hotel were lovely… very friendly and helpful. But, the absentee owner didn’t care about the place. It desperately needed a coat of paint… the walls were dirty. Obviously hadn’t been kept up in general… just looked rundown. The room wasn’t very clean… we wiped all the counters down, the bathroom and side tables. The drawers were so dirty, I couldn’t put my clothes in them. There was a washer and dryer available for guests, but they were dirty around the openings, so I wiped them down. $2 for the washer and the dryer was free. They had bikes available, for free, but they were so rusty and corroded with salt and sand that we had trouble getting them to work. The day we left, they received 2 new bikes. Such a shame since the location was very good, right on the beach. The views were awesome!!! Would never go to Kauai again anyways… it is overrun with chickens. They are everywhere. You can’t walk barefoot on the grass because of the chicken poop. And the roosters are cock-a-doodling all day and all night. On the day we left we had to be out of our room by 11:00, but our flight didn’t leave until midnight. The hotel said they would watch our bags but there was no washroom that we could use… so we would have to use the public ones on the beach, which were filthy. There is a huge problem with homeless people. Someone told us about “Resort Pass”… you can pay to hang out at a nice hotel for the day, use their facilities and restaurants . We went to the Sheraton and that was the best part of the week! It was lovely. They even try to get rid of the chickens!
