My family and I stayed the night on December 21st celebrating our daughter's birthday with a basketball game and dinner afterwards. I had stayed at the property several years ago and was positive experience. Check in went fine other than I requested digital key earlier in day and front desk said their digital key system wasn't working. The room met our needs and our family left to go to the game. When we returned from the game and dinner, we went to our room and when I attempted to open the door, somehow the security latch flipped to engage and not allow us to open the door and access our room. I went downstairs to the night desk clerk to inform him what had occurred. He indicated that ”this has happened before” and that there was a tool to open the door, but did not know where it was or how to do it. He said he'd have to call someone to help. We explained that all our belongings and necessary medications and medical equipment were in our room that we needed. The desk clerk offered us a room to wait while we were displaced while he attempted to get assistance. After more than an hour of no updates on access to our room, we went downstairs to inquire. We explained that our daughter had a breathing condition, was having a difficult time breathing, and that her nebulizer/medication were in the room. The clerk continued to try and call someone, but said his manager, Michelle, was not answering. He did not have any other options to call and gave us her number on a post-it and said we could try! Our daughter's condition deteriorated and we ended up have to call 911 and have emergency ambulance personnel come to our displaced room to give her a necessary breathing treatment at 1:00am in the morning. Her condition was at that point, nearly ambulatory and the paramedics were dumbfounded, as we were, the protocols in place at the hotel to deal with the situation. Even after our daughter was treated, we received no follow up from the front desk if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Truly a horrible and avoidable experience. We attempted to rest in the clothes we had worn all day, nothing to take contacts out, no necessary or convenience items, everyone was upset due to emergency personnel being in our room, all on our daughter's birthday. By 8:00am the next morning, we had STILL heard nothing about access to our original room. I went downstairs to the front desk and asked the employee who had relieved the night desk clerk. When she asked if we were in 213, she advised that she gained access to the room right when she came in at 7:00am. I frustratingly asked her, ”why didn't someone let us know”, she smartly said she really did us a favor because she wasn't even on the clock when she did it. I asked to speak to the hotel manager. The clerk said she wasn't there and didn't know when she'd be in. I explained that I wished to speak with the manager and she called her on her cell phone and handed me the phone. I spoke briefly wi
The lobby was really nice and we had high hopes for our room. However things fell short there. The bathroom needed a better cleaning. There were dark curly hairs everywhere both on the floor and in the shower. The water pressure was lacking. The side table in the bedroom had something crusted on it with hair stuck there as well. Parking was free so that was nice as well but probably wouldn’t stay again after this experience.
Shame on you, Hilton. For $800 per night, I expect more....a LOT more. I should have known there was going to be a problem before we even arrived. I had used the Hilton app to select a room. Several hours later, the app notified me that our room had been switched for some unknown reason. I called the hotel, and was told that maybe the other room ”extended their stay”. OK, no problem. So we arrived at 11pm after a long day of traveling and tried to get into our ”new” room with the app, and of course the key didn't work. We also noticed that there was a loud TV next door, which was easily heard in the hallway. So we trudged over with our suitcases to the front desk (in another building), to complain about the change/key/location of room. We were greeted by ”grandma” and her poodle, crocheting on the couch; ”daughter” working the front desk; and ”granddaughter” (the only one who seemed to know what was going on), who telephoned the room with the loud TV and addressed the occupant by his first name saying ”Hey, are you watching the TV?” Real high class welcome. I requested another room on a different floor. Our new room greeted us with the cooling system fan on full blast and the ceiling fan going....and the room was too hot! We tried to get a good night's sleep, but no luck. The next day, I called the front desk and said the A/C didn't seem to be working. A maintenance guy showed up about 10 mins later and said that ”the freon was out and did I want them to fix it?” He did get it fixed during the time we attended our son's commencement ceremony, hence my generous ”2-star” review instead of ”1-star”. On to our ”free breakfast”: they should have paid us to eat it!! Gross at best. (You have been warned.) Cleanliness of the room? LOL. Carpets were old and had unknown dried ”stuff” stuck in places, curtains were ripped, furniture upholstery stained, mold in the shower, etc. You get the picture, but I added a couple anyway. Oh yeah, on the 3rd night, our key didn't work so we had to trudge on over to the desk for another one. While walking over there, we saw ”grandma” in a loose, silky robe, running through the hallway. Like I said, real classy. I have lost my faith in Hilton. Absolutely unacceptable to take advantage of Purdue graduation weekend and force us to stay in a VERY low quality hotel, knowing that we'll never be back. I'm canceling my Hilton Honors account and credit card right now.

This was the definition of amazing customer service. When we arrived to check in, I found out I somehow made the mistake of booking for the night before. Instead of blaming me or anything like that, she immediately found us another room, no questions asked. They didn't have a king available, ”would an executive King be ok? We'll be sure to charge the same.” Not only that, they refunded me for the night before when I wasn't there, didn't even mention it until check out! Just great experience.
This is a new Staybridge, still with a new smell. There are some punch list items that still need to be addressed though. For instance, the rubber baseboards weren't glued to the wall good and the cabinet doors catch and aren't smooth. The silverware holder was too big for the drawer, so it was just on the counter. These aren't huge, but they're details that need attention. More aggravating was that 2 of the 4 washing machines in the laundry room weren't working. That is a major perk to Staybridge, but it seems that the ones we've stayed at lately had half of their machines out of order. Breakfast was okay, considering what the ”new normal” seems to be for that, but it was below what we had come to expect from Staybridge prior to the pandemic. The ”pantry” was well stocked. Another aggravating point was that the room was a 2 queen with sofa bed and was advertised as a 6 person room, but the sofa bed was a twin. The 2 queen beds also seemed smaller than a normal queen, but that may have just been perception. Finally there was tableware for 4, instead of 6 and only 2 bar stools to sit and eat at. I understand that many people may not need these extra place settings and seats, but that's one of the main reasons that our family of 6 likes to book a room at hotels like this, so we are more comfortable and can save on meals. We will give it another shot for sure, but hope they get the kinks worked out quick. With all of the minor issues, it was clean and comfortable.
We stayed at this property 10 years ago and loved it. Unfortunately, our most recent visit revealed that things have gone WAY downhill since then. Our issues: -the elevators weren't working properly so we mainly had to take the stairs -we only received one threadbare towel and no washcloths; we called the front desk and the staffer asked us to come down to get more because she was the only one working; the second towel was equally threadbare and also stained -the shower diverter didn't work well and the tub didn't drain, so we had to take our showers in a tub full of scummy water -the shower curtain was extremely mildewed -the pillow cases were stained A few positives remain-- great location; clean and spacious rooms; friendly staff (the few who were there)--but that's not enough for us to come back. There are so many other similarly-priced but nicer hotels in Lafayette & West Lafayette - we'll choose one of them next time.
This is a nice hotel, but I can't give it more than a 3 stars. We had a double queen suite for one night which was nice, clean and comfortable. However, we needed to use the silverware that is provided, but none was in the drawer. Didn't occur to me to check the dishwasher, but that is where we found it the next day. Also had to rewash the dishes that were in the cabinet before using them. Thought that would have been something that maid service would have taken care before our stay. It is difficult to enter the hotel from the door in the back, had to either enter by one of the side doors or walk all around the hotel to get in. Could not enter the pool area using the outer door either due to the handle not working. Both doors did respond to the key, but just would not open. The outdoor firepit did not light when I tried it. When we got to our room, there was only one extra toilet paper, not a big deal, but I wanted more since there was three girls in the room. I went to the front desk to ask for more and had to wait 10 minutes for the employee to come out of the office. The TV guide channel was way off. We stayed on May 28th, the guide was saying May 9th, and the time did not change from 10am when it was late afternoon when we turned it on. Not a huge deal either, we did find something to watch, but having an updated guide does help. We did use the pool, but it was colder than I expected, thought it was supposed to be heated and the floor got extremely slippery once water was on the surface of the pool deck. And lastly, we were sitting in the lobby talking and the fire alarm was going off throughout the entire hotel for about 10 minutes. Thankfully it was a false alarm, but no one seemed to have a sense of urgency to turn it off. I even overheard another guest complain at the front desk about the alarm because he was sleeping, and it didn't seem to matter to the employee. The hotel does offer breakfast which was actually very nice. I'm not sure if they change the menu daily or not, but there was fresh scrambled eggs and bacon which were pretty good and the usual staple items that were fresh. I would probably stay here again, but they need to fix the door handles, do something about the tiled pool deck when it gets wet, so no one really hurts themselves, make sure the pool water is warm like bath water, and have employees that have a better sense of urgency to take care of the guests.

Very Good
I stayed here for a single night while passing through town and was also somewhat reluctant based on the reviews. However, at least the night I stayed, the negative reviews aren't warranted. The hotel is in a nice area with restaurants and gas stations nearby, its right off the highway and easy to find. Check in was quick and friendly. The room was standard 10 year old Holiday Inn Express. Spacious, clean but showing signs of age. The good thing is everything worked and the hotel was very quiet: best hotel sleep I've had in a long time. Bed was comfortable as well. I would definitely stay here again if back in the area.
Vvhash77We stayed at this location as our first night of our road trip after driving for almost 12 hours. The hotel is beside of the interstate, a little quirky getting into the parking lot but no big issue. We were greeted upon arrival warmly, and giving the info on our room, wifi and breakfast times. Our room was a 1st floor king room. Very adequate. I will state I always pre-Covid carried lysol wipes and spray - this room was clean with the exception as usual in most hotels the hvac filters - so whomever stays in the room we had - don't recall the room number now after 5 hotels in 10 days - but the filters are clean. We realize this is a maintenance responsiblity and they are on scheduled dates to clean - but it always makes the room smell fresher to be dust free in the filters. We had issues trying to use the television - the front desk staff came to our room and quickly remedied the situation - basically just unplug and replug to reboot and it worked. Breakfast that morning was good and just what we needed. Our bed was comfortable and shower refreshing. If on a road trip through Lafayette, IN again I would stay here. Conveninet to the interstate, good on the budget, comfortable and clean.
GGuest UserThis, far it has been a quiet stay. Room is clean and bug free. The rooms are dated but overall the stay has been great. I have more to come and I have no reason to look another place to stay. I would recommend
KKristine D. HunterThis was my first stay at a Best Western, overall we were very pleased with our stay. The only thing I think they need to do is update their room listings that say there is a bathtub, because I booked the room I did because it showed it had a tub. When arriving at the hotel staff told me that all rooms had been redone and no longer have tubs only walk-in showers.
邢邢The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from Wal-Mart near Purdue University and about 10 miles from the University. When I went shopping from the Wal-Mart supermarket that night, I discovered that the hotel was not in the vicinity of the Wal-Mart supermarket near the university. It was too busy and had zero crossings. I had to make a trip to the nearest student dormitory. There is no refund for the hotel without a stay. Remind everyone not to make the same mistake. (Note: Because the evaluation must be scored, there is no reference to the score of no stay)
DDanothompDespite its name this Red Roof Inn is on the Eastern side of Lafayette, which is still a bit of a distance from Purdue which is in West Lafayette. This place was like any other Red Roof Inn and breakfast was included. The room had a fridge, and the bed was standard fare with clean linens.
At check in, the man said that there was a $250 cash deposit. I said I don’t have that kind of cash and he said “what how much do you have” I said, “forget it I’m out of here”. He said it could go on a card, it just takes 5-7 days for it to get removed. I said I was more comfortable with that. There were a lot of signs about the $250 hold so it seemed legit. I asked for a non-smoking room and he said they were all non-smoking rooms. We went to the room and it REAKED of smoke. I went back and said we needed a new room. He walked us to the next room which was fine. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The next morning I went to make sure that they had the right room down that we stayed in so I didn’t get charged for the smoky room and they had yet a different room down. I told the woman about the cash deposit and wanted me make sure my hold got removed. She told me we weren’t even supposed to charge that, that is was just for smokers. How do you have a non-smoking motel and charge extra for smokers…
GGuest UserWe were passing through when extremely bad winter weather took us off the road unexpectedly for the night and didn’t want to spend a lot. There is no breakfast but the beds were comfortable enough, and everything in the room worked. It was all we needed for about half the price of many shining new competitors at the same exit. The place shows its age from the lobby to the hallways to the rooms so either have realistic expectations or make a different choice if that doesn’t work for you. It is family run, apparently without a dedicated desk clerk at all hours, so if you arrive late and call them using the courtesy phone on the front desk, you will likely be waking someone up. It would benefit greatly from a swifter duster being run across all the floorboards and hard to reach corners. I realize the American traveling public is accustomed to new-looking, perfectly spotlessly clean rooms (I am as well). This is not that but it served our needs for one night. A warm dry quiet place to literally get out of a storm. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and we chose this expecting just about what we got. The 3 stars is based on this being an average value for the low price but if they want better reviews they are going to have to clean everything better, repaint anything chipped or dirty - starting with the wall and door jam behind the front desk to give a better first impression, then most of the other door jams around the entire property, and then keep the touch up paint handy for regular and constant ongoing maintenance, get breakfast going again, and replace old banged up furniture in the guest rooms, in that order.
