This had to be one of my worst hotel experiences. I checked in via Hilton App at 3pm but my 13 year old son and I did not arrive until after 9pm. Getting off the elevator the entire hallway smells of *********. Upon check in to room 404, the room is dirty. In between check in and arrival time, Someone slept in the beds, television is on, remote control out of the plastic and an open coke can and cups is left on the dresser. We are still living through a pandemic. Not only is this unsanitary but it’s unsafe. The associate at the front desk was very nice and he switched our room. (His name is Adefoluso) On Monday morning, my son and I go down for breakfast. He is looking at the food display and the waitress actually told my son that nothing there was free and he had to pay for the food. That comment was not necessary. It’s like she is implying he is going to steal something. It was offensive. Then the cook at the food station was complaining about the people who sent good back and asked to have it done to their liking. This is not how you treat guests. Upon check out, I asked to change payment method and the service rep at the front desk just checked me out. I had to have a manager issue a refund and charge a different card. I was late for an appointment because of this Going forward I don’t believe I would stay at this particular location again and I certainly wouldn’t recommended it to anyone.
Our room and stay were awesome! 100% recommend staying. I requested to stay on the top floor, and they did that for me!! The breakfast was a 11 out of 10! It definitely was one of the best buffet breakfasts that our family has ever had. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the Baltimore/Owings Mill area.
Short version. Upon check in the door was jarred open but the room seemed clean. Ahjee Washington. Left the front desk and took the situation personally. I told her it was not trouble but she said I have checked in all my guest and my co worker can handle the remaining while I take care of you. It was like 1am. Upon her survey of the room she found the lock to be malfunctioning and worked hard to match our room reservation. To continue to keep our valentines weekend plans without a hiccup. Walked us to the new room and upon our head nod she said great and followed up later that evening. Great start to a weekend that could have ended up going in the wrong direction. Details. Check in issues fixed by great customer service. Upon my check in. On Valentine’s Day we received our keys quickly and with verbal clarity. I can tell you how many time I have to lean over cause they talk to the screen. In this case the short stature host made eye contact and was clear. When we arrived at out room the bolt was thrown which left the door ajar. Having never experienced this I was alarmed and walked into a clean room and clean trash cans and sink. With the room looking undisturbed. I still felt bothered and went to the front desk. After hearing my story and hearing here tell another guest that they were full I was in negotiation mode to try and still salvage my valentine’s weekend in a comparable room. Ahjee Washington turned to her co worker and left the desk to look at the room with me. I have never experienced a reception person walking or escorting me to my room. Now initially I was thinking. This level of service is going to end up with we don’t have a room story or we have this room but it smoking or it's in repair. You know something other than what u liked at check in. After arrival she followed protocol I never noticed from a Marriott and I travel a lot. She went over the room thoroughly but before she went over it she offered a new room first but it was not the king bed suite. She reviewed the room as if to write a report. But not to challenge the guest. Cause I am sensitive to when i say something and if it is received as let me decide if what u are telling me is what is true. Upon return to the desk she paused and then said ok we have a cancellation. I am going to switch you to the exact same room. Winning. Great feeling. Problem resolved and i did not have to lose in the process. Also Ahjee. Figured out the lock had malfunctioned. Now how does a malfunctioning lock throw the dead bolt and causes the door to be ajar is another conversation. But she said I dont feel comfortable. With you like this we will get the door repaired immediately but I would like you in a different room. Thank you Ahjee Washington. For bumping the lamp and providing great customer experience. Very pleasantly surprised upon arriving. The modern hotel is located in a convenient, quiet, seemingly safe residential area with good parking and pleasant, welcoming aesthetics close to amenities without the commercial noise. Stayed for two nights. The modern room was terrific with ample amenities with a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, clean dish wares. Terrific housekeeping staff. Clean, clean, clean! The cleanest hotel room I have stayed in years. I like the ability to tip the housekeeping staff via a QR code in your room. I did so with pleasure! Bathroom sparkling. Excellent modern window shades to block outside light. More cool hotel amenities such as purified water stations to fill your water bottles, so great to have! The only issues were a large group staying at the hotel and someone was running around their room above me for an hour and a half in the middle of the night. As well, every hotel should place signs in the hallways telling people about QUIET TIME after 11PM. Some upscale hotels do so to prevent exactly what happened to me during my stay. At 1AM people were in the hallway talking loudly without any consideration for other guests sleeping and then began knocking on their friends doors. Definitely would visit again -- it was an oasis amongst the desert of poor or average hotels set alongside a major noisy highway with bad reviews. No outside noise. No loud truck sounding air conditioners. No comment on breakfast as I did not have time to try it.
Simply put….This hotel is modern and extremely clean. The staffers were all great and the location of the hotel was perfect. The whole area is great to relax and unwind without going too far. We were able to park our car and walk to eat and shop.
I’m happy to write Hampton Inn Baltimore/Owings Mills did not disappoint us. Hotel location is in a business park so it’s quiet and safe. It’s nice that they have a soft and softer pillows and are very comfortable bed. Our room is very clean and hallway carpet appears to be new and clean, breakfast is ok too. It’s the typical quick breakfast of scrambled eggs and potato.
We had a very nice desk clerk, but it seems no one, including her, thanks you for being a member any more. Nonetheless, we were given room 219. We had to ask for the extra blanket we had requested in the reservation. As this hotel is somewhat isolated, she told us how to find the local restaurants. The room was large and clean. It included a small breakfast table and two chairs at the table. The desk/office chair was one of the best I ever have used at a hotel. WiFi speed was okay at 27 Mbps up and down. We stayed 4 nights. There was no desk lamp and, as we learned over the next couple days, it appeared the room had been cannibalized for things, much like the military cannibalizes some aircraft to keep others flying. It started with a noisy fan that would not turn off on the heater/air-conditioning unit. The next morning I told the desk and they sent someone up immediately. The wall thermostat would not cooperate, so he fixed it so we could turn it off at the unit. Then I pointed out the missing desk lamp which takes a special plug. He thought someone must have stolen it and immediately found me another one. That evening my wife looked for the hair dryer before showering. There was none. She went to the front desk and they immediately gave her a brand new one, still in the box. Later we discovered there was no coffee maker or coffee in the room, but that was not a big deal. There also was no ice bucket, nor were there any cups of any type. The management offered to get us all of that, but we really didn't need it and told them they could stock those items after we had checked out. In addition to the missing items, people arriving late had a tendency to slam doors and the hotel, as it turned out, was very near the Baltimore northeast extension and we could hear the traffic all night. A smoke detector on the wall flashed a very bright light every 5 seconds (really have to ask who designs these things?) Breakfast was handled by a woman who obviously was overworked. (People no longer wish to take jobs: we saw ”help wanted” signs at every service industry stop we made, especially restaurants and hotels). On our second morning, for example, the cheese omelets and sausage ran out and people had to wait. On morning 3, breakfast included scrambled eggs but some kids had clogged up the pancake machine the day before, so it was not working. It was working again our last day there. Coffee ranged from so-so to good. The end result of all these issues was that the management gave us a partial refund which we certainly did not expect, but certainly appreciated.
Check in/Check out process was easy and smooth. My only gripe is that an alarm clock started ringing in the vacant room next to mine at around 6:30am 😩 I called the front desk and was told there was no one their to come turn it off. Finally, someone did about 15 minutes later.
The last time I stayed at this hotel the room was very dirty and had mice in it I pulled the bed out and there was actually a dead mouse behind the bed. Also they placed me in a room thit's a room that had no electricity at 1st so I had to return to the front desk to switch room. Overall the 1st time I stayed there was horrible, however this 2nd time I stayed there the room was upstairs and it was actually clean and a little bit better the water pressure was horrible but other than that The 2nd time there was extremely better than the 1st time. If you stay here I would definitely recommend asking for a room upstairs. The front deskPeople were very nice and helpful. Also a lot of the rooms have Problems with electronic locks I had to go back to the front desk twice to get a new key and they ended up having to just come up with the master key to open it. The problem with that was when I left and came back I had to get them to do it again. So basically I could not lock my door when I left or I would lock myself out.
