Review coming from a group of 3 adults Pros and Cons Pros: Right on the beach, excellent view from room, decent amount of space, 2 bathrooms (one shower), friendly staff, indoor/outdoor pool with easy access, end of the beach ***** so it's not crowded (if you walk to the north a bit there's even less people) nice decor, feels bright and beachy, quiet, you couldn't hear people in other rooms banging around, you get a stovetop, microwave, mini fridge with tiny freezer, cups, dishes/silverware, if you sleep on the sofa bed you can leave your balcony door open and listen to the ocean and feel secure, very safe environment- I saw tons of women alone, kids, elderly, no sketchy characters lurking around, price is affordable for what you get though they do tack on fees of I think $23 per person required. So for 2 days after all was said and done it cost me about $700. Cons: no lifeguard on duty, room fills with strong sickening septic odor when using the shower, room isn't very clean (I had to wipe a spot on the floor shortly after checking in, the paper towel came up black) amenities are not great- restaurant may or may not be open and nearest food will require driving unless you get Uber eats or some other form of delivery, there is no easy access to beach gear like chairs, boogie boards, life vests- you get a thin towel at the front desk. So if you want those items they do have guys who come in a truck and will rent you chairs for awhile, not sure if you're able to keep them overnight so you can enjoy the ocean at night. Otherwise you have to drive into town if you want the other gear. The room furniture is all uncomfortable- you get a sofa, 2 small wicker chairs and 4 wood dining table chairs for seating, balcony is small, 2 people max and if you're 5'7” like me the wide top part of the railing hits just right to block your nice view, mini fridge is small if you're trying to keep more than 1 day worth of food, we didn't buy much of our own food but I could see that being extremely annoying if you did because now you have to go get a cooler somewhere and buy ice. If you come prepared to overcome the inconveniences mentioned here you'll have a great time, the view is excellent, very safe environment. I would probably come here again but be more prepared and try to request a room that doesn't fill with septic odor.
The hotel rooms are really nice. All new I guess due to a recent upgrade. This is a classic beach hotel Holiday Inn but this may be the nicest rooms in any similar hotel in country. The common areas are all very nice too with fast elevators. I was here for work but could come back for the beach itself.

I stayed at this hotel for work a trip. Prior to me arriving, my manager booked my stay and at the time of the booking he stated that the stay should be completely charged on his credit card. The Hampton Inn employee stated because we are with a group, the security deposit would be $15 per day and I was aware that a charge would be on my personal credit card, which was fine . When I checked in, the lady at the desk said she would charge for the security deposit. I was staying for 3 nights , so there should have been a charge of $45. Once I got to my room, I checked my account and saw there was a $500 charge on my account . I went back down to the front desk and calmly said to the lady, I am just looking for clarity on why my card was charge this amount when that’s not the agreement that was told by phone. I was immediately met with hostility and was told “I’m not going to argue with you, you can talk to the manger.” The manager Sheeri Hightower came out and she was just as rude. She was very dismissive and told me no credit card was on file for my reservation and that’s why I was charge. That was a complete lie , because you can’t even book a reservation without a credit card and if that was the case, why wasn’t that mentioned when I checked in??! So, I went back to my room. As I walked away, I heard Sheeri Hightower and her employee laughing at me as I walked away(Nice way to make your guest feel welcomed.)To make a long story short, I had my manager email over his credit card info so he could cover the reservation. My manager called me and told me he talked to the front desk and it should be handled. Instead of the hotel manager calling me to tell me the issue was resolved and my credit card would be refunded, I heard nothing from them. So I stopped by the front desk again, Just to confirm they received my managers credit card and that it would be refunded . Again, I was met with an attitude and was talked to In a condescending tone. The following day, I was at the bar by the pool and the manager Sheeri Hightower walked behind the bar, looked dead at me and didn’t speak . She turned her back to me and ate a hamburger behind the bar and never acknowledged me. Once she was done, she walked away. The Hampton Inn needs to take a better look at the type of people they are hiring . I have been a customer service manager for 15 years and I would never be this rude to a customer. When my company has another convention, I will recommend they find another hotel. I will never stay here again.

(+) The hotel is certainly new (as of August 2024) and everything feels that way (furniture, carpets, elevators, common areas etc.) (+) The area around the hotel is nice and convenient. ~10 min drive to Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier and Wrightsville Beach, ~30 min to Topsail Beach. No shady people around the hotel, feels very safe. (+) Staff is very friendly (+) 24/7 access to coffee/tea in the lobby is a big thing in my book! Love it! (+) There is a pool table in the lobby!!! I think this is the first hotel I've ever been to with a pool table! (+/-) Breakfast is offered, although it is extremely basic and bland. (-) Room cleaning could be a bit better. We usually go barefoot in hotel rooms in the summer, and we took off our shoes right away when we first entered the room. We quickly realized it was a mistake as floors were simply dirty. We've seen roomkeeping staff with vacuum cleaners though, so hopefully this was not a systemic thing there. (-) Breakfast can be a hit or miss, both in terms of quality and quantity. The first morning it was okay-ish, but the second morning (Sunday) there were much more people in the hotel, and the staff had a hard time to refill omelette area in time for people coming down to have a breakfast. In general, I would not expect a free hotel breakfast to be great, but I feel like it was excessively bland here.

The advantage of the old hotel is that the service standard is guaranteed, the environment is good, the breakfast is good, the front desk girl is warm, and she has been to Beijing, Xi'an and other places in China. The equipment is a bit old.
