I traveled to Long Island with my daughter, my closest friend and her son. I chose Gems based on TA reviews and it did not disappoint. The mini apartment was lovely and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The view is absolutely stunning, and the snorkeling from the beach to the left side was much better than expected. Saw tons of colorful fish and 3 rays! But the highlight of our visit was meeting and dealing with Hance…… who went above and beyond to help us during our trip. I had a minor mishap with the car I rented which upset me greatly. Not only did Hance reassure me, he took care of the repair involved. Cannot say enough good things about this property and its manager, Hance!! Hope to return!!

We stayed at Gems for 8 days. Can't say enough about Hance, He even fixed a bent rim on our rental car, saving us a big headache. The pot holes in the center of the island can swallow a car. We travel in the off season to avoid crowds and this trip was perfect, very little traffic at the resort and beaches. The resort is a bit older but comfortable. Did not get to experience the sand flies (they must not operate in the off season). Also did not hear any loud air conditioners that others mentioned. Thanks Hance for a wonderful stay and the upgrade. Barbara & Ziggy

The setting is lovely. The private beach is accessed down a very short path, there’s a couple of loungers and chairs and some shade. There’s a bit of snorkelling about 20 yards from the beach. We had a top floor apartment, with a stunning view across the bay. (No lift 2 flights of stairs) There’s air on in the bedroom but we just kept the windows open, there’s a bit of noise from the cockerel but noth8ng to worry about, and no other noise. Kitchen has what you’d need to cater for yourself. We ate breakfast there and an evening meal. Both good. It’s quaint and might benefit from a bit of an update, but it’s beautifully clean. Would happily stay again. Hance was really helpful and sorted out our hire car flat battery when we had a problem. Couple of good restaurants in easy drivin* distance. 5 minutes. There’s a lovely beach called Galloways on the Caribbean side. Go out of drive, turn right, then left down Galloway road. Go along till you see beach straight ahead, but turn left over bridge instead and carry on carefully down increasingly broken road, carefully, it’s about 30 minutes careful drive from Gems. When you get to end don’t go over rickety bridge go right and park up. Tip passed on by other guests. Gems is in a good location for deadman’s cay, Gordon’s beach and deans blur hole.

My wife and I just returned from our stay at Gems at Paradise and we already can't wait to return. You would be hard-pressed to find someone more accommodating than our host, Hance. He went out of his way multiple times to make our stay more pleasant. We mentioned to him that we wanted to go snorkeling and he loaned us masks, snorkels, and flippers for the duration of our stay free of charge. He even used his truck to save us when our rental car got stuck in the sand! We were 20+ minutes away and he was there in 30. That's service! The resort is beautiful, has its own private beach, a chef, and endless breathtaking views. Our room was clean and well-appointed. Hance even upgraded us to a room with a full kitchen. If you're on the fence about visiting Long Island, Bahamas and Gems at Paradise Resort, do yourself a favor and book it!

Solid choice of a place to stay near Clarencetown. We did the fly free from Nassau promotion (we stayed 4 nights, 1 RT ticket from Nassau to Long Island was free) which made Gems a very affordable option. Third floor one bedroom unit had a nice little kitchen, bath, living area, balcony with a table and a very comfortable bed in a separate bedroom in the back. We did the meal plan the first night and first breakfast since we arrived on a Sunday, but I did not feel it was a good value or that the food was particularly good. The woman who cooked was sweet and kind, but there are restaurants nearby that offer higher quality food and experience at better prices, with a full bar. There is a small yet lovely beach at Gems, I just wish there were some lounge chairs on it - we would have relaxed, read, and hung out there. Kayak was fun. Hanse is an excellent host, even lent us his cooler for our entire trip which we appreciated immensely. He runs a nice place and we enjoyed our stay here. It's convenient to town, the blue hole, and some other beaches.

Great place to stay. Private Beach, Snorkeling at a reef near the beach, kayaking from beach and breath taking views from our balcony. Hance had a dinner cooked for us with the fish we caught that day. Delicious!!

The Paradise Gems is a gorgeous property. I wish I had had more time there to enjoy it fully. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Hance (owner) was very helpful.

Gems is a special place. This magical island jewel sits perched on the ridge overlooking stunning Lochabar Bay, Long Island. Each of the accommodations has unobstructed views of the bay and the plethora of sailboats entering, leaving, settling overnight. The multi-blues of Lochabar Bay are a sight to see, changing every day. Sunrise and sunset are stunning. Our accommodation - a top-floor condo with large balcony was spotlessly clean, decorated island-style with lovely fresh breezes in from the bay. From the moment we made contact with Shavonne by email when she answered our many questions promptly and fully, to our arrival at Gems to meet Hance, our on-site host, we were completely taken with this island paradise. Shavonne organised our car rental with Unique Wheels locally. Nothing was a problem to Hance on-site. He was so helpful with everything we wanted to do. Jennifer cooked a fresh breakfast for us on three days which set us up for our island adventures. While at the property all you want to do is look out at the bay. Its beauty is breathtaking, and so quiet. The only sounds are the waves lapping at the shore, the birds singing, and early morning rooster crowing! The property has beach chairs, towels, and kayaks for use by guests. Across the road from Gems there are two resident wild flamingos - we named them Fran and Fred! Some mornings they are joined by a flock of feeding flamingos who nestle in the water and then take off across the pond in a fantastic pink formation. It was a sight to see - totally awesome! Gems is truly an island paradise. Highly recommend this beautiful place on Long Island. We will return.
