Hill Crest Bed & Breakfast

What a wonderful spot close to Douthat State Park. Martha's attention to detail is superb. Cocktails on the porch were a treat. The breakfast was amazing! We stayed in the Shenandoah Room. Comfy bed and gorgeous bathroom. The house is a gem. It sits on top of the hill with fabulous mountain views.

A beautiful step back in time. Downtown Abby elegances and charm. Comfortable bedrooms decorated with warm colors and special touches. A breakfast fit for royalty. Martha is chef extraordinaire! Served by her darling parents. Each course arrived on beautiful China and was over the top delicious. Martha’s parents are so entertaining and delighted us with wonderful stories. The only down side to our stay was walking out the front door and leaving our new friends. You could travel less than hour in two direction and arrive at a five star resort; don’t ! This is every bit as good; if not better; and I’ve stayed at both. 5 stars!!

Our son got married October 28th in the Clifton Forge area and we rented the entire house for him and his groomsmen. From the time of booking until they checked out, Martha was wonderful to deal with and went above and beyond. The house is meticulously maintained. The grounds and interior of the home are stunning! The views spectacular!! Martha had it tastefully decorated for Fall & Halloween. So many special touches! The hospitality she, along with her mom & dad provided was warm and welcoming. She is an amazing chef! I can't say enough positive things about the Hillcrest Mansion Inn & Martha. I highly recommend it!

The Hillcrest mansion Inn exceeded our expectations. It is a lovely home that is very clean. Our breakfast was exceptional. Complementary wine, snacks ,soda ,and water are available. Coffee was brought to our room at the time of our choosing. We hope to return and stay longer. The Inn is convenient to interstate 64.

This place is amazing! The breakfast was three courses of beyond delicious dishes. You will find the presentation somewhere between the 1900s and 2022 bistro. Yep, it is difficult to describe. Please do not be in a hurry. Arrive in time to relax in the spacious living room and enjoy your favorite beverage. Speak to Alexa and engage in conversation with other guests. I choose either Mozart or Sinatra for my listening pleasure. As you may suspect, I am a regular. Do not miss this experience!

This was one of the most incredible, relaxing get-aways in a long time. The Inn is gorgeous, tastefully decorated, and comfortable. Martha Crawford is an incredible hostess and made sure our stay was nothing less than perfect -from greeting us as we arrived, to giving us a tour and history of the house, to afternoon cheese & crackers with a glass of wine, to turning our beds down and what an incredible breakfast the following morning. Martha is a superb chef, creating unique and so tasty breakfasts that one has to rest after eating just to be able to continue on with your day! She is willing and capable of catering any meal or function you may have. For Saturday afternoon, she made a decadent mocha chocolate pound cake -it was delish! Sunday morning breakfast was made even more memorable by being graced by Marthas parents (Amy and JB), who were a blast to talk with. Do not pass on an opportunity to relax and enjoy the Hillcrest, its history and especially the Innkeepers -an experience not to be missed and one that we will definitely return to!

We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Hillcrest Mansion, and enjoyed an exceptional mini-vacation, with no driving required. Martha and the staff were gracious hosts, and the ambience, the quality of the food and service, and the overall experience makes us want to return for future celebrations.

My husband and I stayed for a night and were highly impressed by the classy and elegant decor, amazing food and hospitality, and warmth and welcoming nature of Martha, the innkeeper! We are new to the B&B scene, but we're sure that this B&B is top of the line and one of the best! When we arrived, Martha greeted us, gave a quick tour, and served us a gourmet wine and cheese platter. The room was very comfortable, and the bathroom was classy but recently updated. The shower had two shower heads--a rain shower and a regular shower! We enjoyed dinner at Jack Mason's Brewery and some hiking at the Douthat State Park while we were there, too. It was an amazing restful stay, and we felt thoroughly refreshed and full thanks to Martha's world class hospitality and delicious three course breakfast. Clifton Forge is a small but homey town, and we felt right at home.

This past Christmas we had the sublime pleasure of staying at a bed-and-breakfast that truly was one of a kind. The moment we walked into this turn of the century mansion in the guise of bed-and-breakfast, we were transported back in time to a Christmas of yore. Decorated magnificently in the Federal style with a museum’s worth of antiques, and numerous Christmas trees, this Hillcrest Mansion Inn brought a feeling of warmth which delighted our senses. Upon arrival, we we were greeted by Martha, a multi-talented innkeeper who has used her multitudinous talents including gourmet cooking and interior design to forge a stellar personal experience unlike any other. Staying in the Shenadoah room, one quaint touch included sleeping on one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in. We were also fortunate to have the place to ourselves as we settled in. Every night, we had some of the deepest sleep we’ve had in quite some time. In the morning, we were greeted at breakfast by the ringing of a bell by Martha‘s father dressed as a butler and mother who performed the server duties. As a testament to Martha’s chef skills, we were offered multi-course breakfast dishes that were truly world-class gourmet level, from salmon eggs benedict to fluffy cakes, to fruit compote, to endless refills of fresh brewed coffee. After a breakfast of this quality every morning, we were guaranteed to start the day well fortified. This is true Southern hospitality at its finest. if you’re looking for a time of great relaxation with one of the best hosts you could ever ask for, then by all means check out the Hillcrest Mansion Inn. When we first arrived, we were told we would enter as guests and leave as members of the family. . At the end of our stay, with her brand of top-flight concierge level service, her claim was more than justified. .
