The hotel was delightful in appearance. As it is an old building soundproofing isat a minimum. The room and bathroom were very clean and appealing.

I enjoyed my stay. I expected to be cleaner but overall was okay. Noise is an issue but if you're tired enough, you'll sleep well.

We liked being just outside of the West entrance. The hotel is old and the floors are creaky, but we expected that. Yes, the train is loud and runs at night but we were so tired we didn't need the ear plugs or white noise. The staff was very friendly. The room (Queen bed ~ very comfortable) was TINY with two uncomfortable chairs. I am glad I reserved a room with a patio, as it made it feel not quite so closed in, and the chairs out there were more comfortable. And the patio was covered so we could sit out there even if it was raining. There was complimentary coffee which was delicious from 6-11. There were also muffins. We likes being walking distance to the Highlands Restaurant just down the road. The lobby/ lounge area was very cute with a sometimes lit fireplace and seating for about 8 people. They had a very small gift selection. They have a common room/game room downstairs(no elevators on property) with ping pong, table shuffle board, scrabble, and ice machine and a microwave. The only thing I wished they had was a refrigerator so we could have purchased food and stored it there (there are none in the room) and had it ready for an early morning take off to hiking. It's good to head out early. Even hitting the road at 8:00, most of the trailhead parking lots were practically, if not totally, full. We were there September 11-15, and the traffic on the Road to the Sun Road was not too bad at all and after September 10 you don't need to get passes to go on the road. I had heard the summer passes get snatched up in two minutes. I made my chalet reservations almost a year in advance.

A lovely stay with friendly people. It was cozy and within easy walking distance of West Glacier shops and dining.

Restaurant was fantastic. Train noise throughout the night was annoying. Would recommend a non balcony room on the backside of the lodge. Rooms are small with no TVs.

This historic hotel is full of rustic charm. My husband’s family and I recently stayed at the hotel for a week and enjoyed our stay tremendously. Yes, it’s close to the railroad and there are no T.V.’s but the staff is exceptional. Joseph, the general manager, as well as the entire crew provide excellent customer service and are friendly and helpful. We also had the opportunity to eat dinner at the restaurant on three different occasions and the food and wait staff was outstanding. The red curry with chicken skewer was over the top.

The floors creak on every step, loud, that is in the room, in the hall. No elevator, just stairs, and these are steep stairs inside. Basic key lock must be 40 years old. No frig, no USB. Some of the staff are unhelpful, unconcerned. Overpriced. It needs to be updated. Very overpriced. They have guide groups stay here, who make a lot of noise at night, then more in the morning like before 6 AM in the hallways and parking areas. I didn't have issues with train noise, on second floor facing away from US 2. Built on a steep hill, they run out of parking near the stairs.

Basic accommodations with in-room bathroom/shower facilities. Quite small room with very limited surface space for 'things' (toiletries, electronics, etc) Stayed in room facing mountain so train noise was barely noticeable. If you are looking for CLASSIC - you will be happy here, otherwise maybe not.
