The Inn at Irwin Gardens

Charming But..... Pros: Location, old world charm, quiet. Cons: Advertised as including breakfast. That is not available at this time. Was given a $25 per person discount per day. (you should ask). Room was quiet but if someone is in the adjoining room you can hear everything. Air conditioning was fantastic but not controllable. Bed was comfortable but felt used. No daily room service. One available plug on each side of the bed. Bathroom has the original fixtures which is charming. However, if you can't lift your legs 2 feet high to step into the extremely narrow shower you will have a problem. Tub sloped towards the rear so I always felt like I was balancing standing up. Plenty of hot water although the shower head needs repair. Limited soap supples but I probably could have had more if I asked. There is a person on premises but you have to call on the phone to get her. Coffee and store bought muffins are set out in the morning. No creamer though if you need that. The gardens are beautiful but the mosquitos are plenty. They provide spray to use but I still got bitten. Some bottles of OK wine are put out in the afternoon.

A Very Special Place What an amazing and very special place. When do you get to eat, sleep, and sit by the fire in a museum? When you stay at the Inn at Irwin Gardens. The other home that was owned by the Irwin family is literally a museum. The rooms are beautiful and every one unique. The breakfast is served on china with cloth napkins, is three courses and delicious. Stacey was wonderful. She made a fire for us and brought our group two bottles of wine to enjoy by the fire each night. There are chocolates, coffee, and teas available for you anytime downtown. Upstairs there are snacks, soda, and other treats. You can sit in anyone of the three beautiful downstairs rooms and enjoy these things or sit in the extensive and magnificent gardens. Everything about this place is exceptional. A rare gem! And then there’s Columbus, IN right outside your door. I cannot think of anything better than staying at this Inn in Columbus, IN for an amazing little vacation.

A huge part of the history of Columbus and a classic historic property. Obviously the gardens are spectacular! And so close to many of Columbus’ architectural marvels.

The converted house to a B and B is exquisite. It’ is also an intricate part of the history of Columbus being a premier architectural city. Both Columbus and the Inn at Irvin Gardens are a must see.

At the last minute, we requested an early check-in and Fran, the innkeeper graciously granted our request. We were greeted by her upon our arrival. We enjoyed the cocktail hour complimentary bottle of wine as we relaxed a bit before dinner at a local restaurant. So far we are enjoying our stay here at the Inn at Irwin Gardens. Looking forward to the Totality in the Gardens event later today.

Best B&B Breakfast ever. Very accommodating. Loved the old house, it felt very much appropriate for the 1910 time period. Lovely gardens, a bit early for any blooms as they didn't have any spring bulbs planted. We enjoyed the evening bottle of wine that was opened for guests. The first night we had the whole house therefore we enjoyed a lovely game of monopoly in the parlor. Great water pressure for the showers. At one point the previous owners had to pay an inherentance tax and the sold their small collection of monets, Picasso and the like for $ 135 million. I wish they were able to hang replicates or maybe some other prints from these artists for a similar one to reflect the actual art work. Within a few blocks of downtown and wonderful restaurants.
