Hotels near Grandate - Breccia, Como

I was on a Northern Italy Lake Tour with my mom and best friend with 25 other people. This hotel was the second stop of our trip. The travel company selected the hotels, so we were at the mercy of where they put us. If you like rock hard beds, wafer thin pillows, scratchy rough sheets, semi clean rooms, abrasive and rude staff, then this is a place for you! The two stars are for excellent wifi connection and speed and friendly housekeeping staff. This is clearly a very busy hotel. Every time we went through the lobby there were groups checking in. The sign said the air conditioning in the hotel would be on until 10/22, and we checked out before the 22nd and it was never on. Rooms were stuffy and hot. We had to ask about opening the window, which we had to sign a waiver (understandable - there are no screens). Each bed had one very thin pillow. When we asked for 3 more (one for each in the room) the look of dismay and surprise from the person at the front desk was almost comical. The fridge in the room was stocked daily, but never was cold enough to even chill the bottles. We had the same waiter two nights and he was miserable, unfriendly, inattentive and just down right rude. I tried to be friendly to see if it would help - and it didn’t. When asking for directions at the front desk the person seemed annoyed that we asked, was very curt and snotty. Even when looking at other staff they all looked miserable - no one smiled. At least the housekeeping ladies were pleasant and greeted you with good morning and a smile. Not an overly welcoming experience and I couldn’t wait to check out and continue on our trip. If I was to come back, I certainly would not book to stay here.

Highly recommend DO NOT BOOK that horrible hotel! There are much better accommodations around. 03.09- 04.09 Me & my boyfriend paid 230 euros for one night's stay in that hotel (COMO) The receptionist (Cristian) said the policy of the hotel obliges us to pay the whole amount for accommodation while check-in. So we did. I paid the whole amount in cash. The next day 04.09 hotel charged me again the same whole price for my stay by using my card details. I called reception, and Claudia told me that she will call me back, but she never did, she left home without telling any colleagues about my problem. I called reception again the next day and Claudia when she heard that it's me she said that I have to wait for an answer. I asked her how long because I need my money and I want to know when will I have it back, but she dropped the phone! DROPPED THE PHONE! So I don't even know what to do, it is super humiliating to face such an attitude, should I bag the hotel to get my money back?! They do not reply to the emails, do not call me back, or hang the phone if I call. I don't want to go to the police, but what else can I do?! The hotel in Como and the hotel in Milan have two different owners, so even in Milan, they said that they can not do anything to help me. It's the first time in all my travel experience I face such rudeness and unprofessionalism. Apart from that, we did the checkout at 11.15, so we were 15 min late. The receptionist (Claudia) charged us 15 euros (1 euro per minute) for the late checkout. More of that, she insisted that I should pay as well for the late checkout for the other guests, that Im not related to! Because we booked our rooms at the same time for her it means that we are friends and I will pay for them as well! I couldn't do anything since she had my card, I was obliged to pay. The other guests, paid for their rooms separately, with another card, but Claudia still charged me those 40 euro! That is unacceptable! I was very mad, so I told Claudia the trough ”That is the worst hotel I had ever stayed” and Claudia replied, ”YOU ARE THE WORST CUSTOMER EVER”. Apart from all that, the rooms are very poor, the view is horrible! For many years there are the construction works in front, so that will be the view from your balcony! The walls are so thin that you can literally hear all the conversations of the other guests. The stuff is superbe! The people from the front desk are super professional even when you are stressed they think about a way to solve problems with going the extra mile! Thank you so much for such service! So reader please be nice to them! The breakfast and the beds/rooms/toilet/foyer are very clean - that’s really a big plus and beds are truely comfy. The modern Retro looking supercool Toilet even has a bidet and the soap is not one of those cheap soaps it smells wonderful and is not slimy! Check out the Italian espresso! It’s good and also the mini cupcakes, fresh different fruits, the fresh yoghurt (no drying spots yesss) and the salami is remarkable. Foyer and check in with modern desks for working travelers or young and old kids who want to charge their gadgets… Wifi: no Problems Good rest :)

We just spent 3 lovely days at the Dandelion. The hotel is located in a small town Villa Guardia, only 15 minutes away from Como. The hotel is an old family farmhouse/residence that has been remodeled and provides severals spacious rooms, appartments and suites. We stayed at a Deluxe Villa, which was simple but beautifully decorated. The room is spacious with a Queen-size bed and a relatively large sofa (I think it can be converted into another bed). The bathroom with a rainfall shower is equipped with all relevant and necessary items. Overall, the building is beautiful and provides an oasis of tranquility and peace of mind - the park-like backyard invites to just sit in a lounger and to dose of in the sun. The true highlight of the hotel though is the culinary experience. Breakfast is served at the Arabella restaurant, where dinner is served as well. Every little detail was perfect. From cutlery to the china coffee set - one eats with style. Luckily, the breakfast buffet refrains from offering a lot, but high qualitative and local products. The different coffee types (from Espresso to Latte Machiato) were among the best we had in Italy so far. But the best was Eleonora, who made this is a very personal experience - thanks to her service and help with our baby girl we could relax and enjoy. The dinner experience is great likewise. A very nice and elaborate monthly menu plus a daily menu - everything we had was delicious, and reasonably priced. We will certainly be back as the other staff, Federica and Matteo welcomed us with a smile and were helpful anytime. The other staff, whose names I did not ask for, we very nice and supportive as well. We only hope that next time, the mattress will be less hard (for my wife who is quite small, this was not so comfy, but with the help of the staff we found a good solution). Another thing I was not too happy about was the strong price volatility. I understand that the demand often makes the price, but when I was booking I had observed a price difference of around 50 € up and down per day within a very short time. Finally, we love to travel to the Como area and believe of having found our ”base to stay” in the Dandelion.

The hotel is very large, the equipment is very new, and the room price is reasonable! It’s just a little far away from the city center. During my trip to Northern Italy, the best pizza I ever had was in Lake Como (pictured)

WOW - this is just the most magnificent boutique hotel and a truly exceptional position. It’s super close to the lake AND shops AND restaurants - we only had a day and a half but I would gladly come back for a few days. One of our rooms had a window view directly our over the lake (302) and the other had a little balcony that offered views of the lake. (403) . I preferred the 302 room but my daughter said that it was a bit noisy due to the stream of cars. The rooms are comfy although I always dislike the joined single beds to create a king bed with a join. I always seem to end up stuck in the join (no matter how small the crack😂) The decor of the hotel is like a plush reminder of the 1930s - I felt like George Cluney might come round a corner at any moment. The building is superb and VERY picturesque. Service has been excellent and we feel very privileged. We have just finished breakfast in the most divine outdoor setting in the hotel grounds overlooking the lake. It is a bright blue sky and the wind is calm - I don’t think life gets much better than this.. Last night we dined at Ristorante Sottovoce which was a mere 100m away and absolutely as MUST do while staying at the perfect venue. “It’s such a shame we’re only here for one night” , my wife just said. But we still have a few hours to do a guided but tour with a private captain/guide - so there is still more special-ness to enjoy.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a memorable six night stay at Villa Flori. There’s so much to like about this hotel but the key for me is it’s lakeside position, with the road behind it, which gives uninterupted views across the lake and over to Como town. Breakfast in the garden at the water’s edge, watching the lake come to life with boats and wildlife and stunning mountainous scenery as a backdrop was a magical experience. The breakfast selection was excellent and the staff took care of every little detail to make sure our days started perfectly. Our top floor room was well laid out and comfortable with a bath and, most importantly, a balcony that gave us incredible, wide-angle, views over the lake. We enjoyed evenings just watching life go by on the water, rowers, seaplanes, birds and ferries all doing their thing as the sun set behind us. The location is superb as a base for exploring the area. Como town is 15 min walk mostly through garden parks and waterfront paths. There’s a ferry stop at Tavernola, a few mins walk north, which gives access to all the main towns and many smaller villages. You can also book a boat taxi to collect you at the hotel wharf, or travel by car, bicycle or bus. An all-round excellent hotel in unrivalled location with dedicated and professional staff. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Como (I hope we do).

We spent one evening at the Sheraton because our other hotel was full. This is a pleasant four-star hotel, they were many people because it was August and the pool area was completely full during the day. Our room was clean and we were upgraded to a terrace room. The hotel is not located directly by the lake, you will have to cross the road and a small village in order to access. I did not have the occasion to try food at the Sheraton because it was too short but it looked wonderfully adequate. Once again for a four star resort everything was on point and the price was very acceptable for high season at Lake COmo. Hotel parking is €15 and night however there are plenty of free overnight street parking.

Mirrors, mirrors everywhere, walls, ceilings, round beds, this is a sex hotel, does not support public transportation. A special hotel, clean.
