Vela Terraces Hotel

Second booking with Vela Terraces and we made the same request to put us in a lower floor so we don’t have to climb all the stairs with our young toddler but unfortunately they were fully booked so we got a room on the 4th floor. It wasn’t that bad because the staff helped move ALL our luggage for us and we had 2 large hard suitcases plus a huge backpack carrier and multiple smaller bags which were all heavy. Very much appreciated the help! Since we knew about all the stairs from the reviews, there’s nothing to complain about. Despite no free upgrade because they were fully booked, the bed like the first time was very comfortable and the service was just as good as the first. The bathroom however wasn’t as nice as the Family room which was where we stayed during our first visit. It’s an open shower with a piece of glass that covers half the shower but water can still spray out. The bathroom light kept flickering and there were some ants. But all in all, it was still a good stay. AC worked well and they provided bottled water. If you want a better room, book the Family room on the 2nd floor! It makes a difference! The hotel is close to Dayon Kamo Food park which is a cute place with multiple food stalls. Great food, live music, love the atmosphere!

10-15mins walking distance away from downtown. Many stairs to access the rooms but what can you expect from a hotel called "terraces"... It didn't bothered us that much. Large and comfortable room. They have a restaurant on site, very convenient, good cost for value and nice atmosphere. Front staff very helpful and nice. We could book a tour and a transfer to the pier.

Pros: Bed was comfortable and room was large. Staff was generally friendly. Location was quiet and as long as the people in the house across the way weren't singing karaoke it was quiet. Staff could arrange motorbikes, laundry service, transfers Cons: not enough electrical outlets in the room, none near the bed, none in the bathroom. Missing things like a hairdryer and safe deposit box. Room had some cleanliness issues. A variety of bugs got into the room including a large roach and spider. Staff doesn't visit the room daily so things like water, soap, toilet paper have to be asked for and sometimes they have issues providing you what you ask for. Breakfast selection was very limited and they didn't cover fruit, many flies on the fruit. If you can get a good enough deal it's okay to stay here but this hotel isn't without it's issues. Also, as others have mentioned, if you can't climb several steep stairs, don't stay here.

DO NOT stay or book this hotel. The Reviews for this hotel are wrong. The hotel staff were completely rude and tried to give us a room #408, which is 8 flights of stairs!! When we asked for a different room they just laughed at us….. unbelievable! We asked for a refund and they told us we need to contact ***********. They offered no apology or any resolution. DON’T make the same mistake we did…. We will likely lose our money from this hotel. During checkin they smiled and told us that we will experience “blackouts” with power outage, between the hours of 4-11pm! I even took a photo to prove it!
