I don't even know how this hotel was able to obtain 4 stars... Kitchen 0 everything is frozen, reheated, and sometimes even picked up from the ground then put on the plates... And on the top of that they will charge you a loooot for this… LOL ! Management level is horrible and if you go take a look at the side of the access prohibited to the public it is not the cleaning which will surprise you...

A brilliant place to stay. The welcome we goton arrival was the marker for how our stay was going to be. It's the staff that make these places. Fantastic. Comfortable rooms, complimentary water. We ate in the restaurant, the food was reasonably priced and delicious. Breakfast was superb. Extra coffee offered to us by two different staff members. We used the leisure centre which was very clean and well maintained. Alot of places could learn from The Shandon Spectacular views from the hotel.

From the minute you enter the staff are warm &welcoming. The room we stayed in was absolutely stunning, the views were out of this world and I never stayed in a hotel that the bed & mattress were as comfortable. The food alone is worth the visit!

We had a lovely 4 night stay in September in the Shandon. We discovered it during Covid when we were unable to travel too far and have returned every year since. The Shandon is a lovely friendly hotel on a glorious site overlooking the most spectacular beach. The room this time was 303 I think, it was perfect and had such a marvellous view. We had robes and swam everything day. Breakfast was lovely - lovely fresh fruit, great full Irish and cold meat , cheeses etc, although we did miss Noreen ( ye can tell her). Dinner in the bar - fish and chips was excellent, steak top class. The restaurant upstairs was not open while we were there. We will be back.

Amazing setting and views however let down by the variety of the evening menu there wasnt even a roast choice plus no daily specials which is dissapointing if you stay a few days, limited seating in the bar to eat no other restaurant open so if you dont book then even as a resident you wont get a evening meal. its quite
a walk/drive to the town to find somewhere else. However breakfast in the morning outstanding plus the staff couldnt do enough for you.

Our Santa experience was just Magical. There was a slight hiccup with the booking (completely my fault) but the staff was extremely professional and reassured me. From checking in to Mrs claus, the elves and ofcourse Santa visiting the room. Just magic from the get go!! We will most definitely be back!!!
