Had a great time at this hotel Location is a five minute walk from ferry pier. View is amazing from our ocean view room upgrade well worth the money for sure watching the cruise ships dock right in front of us was really cool. Free breakfast buffet was excellent in mornings. Nice chairs around small splash pool were nice also little bar there at pool area. Spent the day there one day watching all the action in the ocean in front of us. All the employees were very nice and helpful. The price was good for the location of this hotel. We really like all the elevators in building . Also has a 7-11 store located under hotel open 24/7 so handy. Would highly recommend this small hotel looking forward to staying there next time

At the time of making the reservation we had the information that we would stay in a room with a king size bed, however, at the time of arrival the room they gave us was one with two beds, when we made a comment to the receptionist, she told us that the reservation information was only a request and that he could not change our room because one like the one required was not available and that the rooms with those characteristics at the moment would have an extra cost. The waiters are very friendly, as well as the bartender and the facilities are very nice, the entrance to the sea is a surprise and the pools with sea water that the hotel has are exquisite.

PROS: This is the best beach and ocean location and the main reason we chose this resort. Employees work hard - some are very friendly and helpful, others keep more to themselves but are happy to help if asked. The ocean water is divine - crystal clear and abundant with life and an ecosystem that you can explore for hours! The hotel grounds are well kept, the pools are lovely, there is fresh cold drinking water available at many sites on the resort. The lobby is comfortable. CONS: Food - there is so much waste because of taste and quality especially in the only a la carte restaurant. They try too hard to impress with appearance, while the flavor and quality is awful. We tried so hard to like it. They Serve a spaghetti with a liquid tomato juice they call a sauce, and serve it to hotel guests! Stick to what you know - Mexican food made well, made with local ingredients using traditional recipes! Why try to serve a pasta carbonara when they clearly don't have a clue what that even is - and every dish that uses cream - and there are many, has this artificial sickening flavor about it, what a shame! If they could just tweak and understand that guests deserve to eat decent food, everything else would be great. ROOMS: dated but clean. They have many rooms with very old and dirty fold-up couches. Replace the couches that belong in the garbage, not in guest's rooms, it isn't a big deal, but will show respect to your guests. AIR CONDITIONING: very controlled and never gets cold. Hotel can lower the temperature by at least two degrees and provide much comfort. BUFFET: Repetitive and low-quality food. If you make it repetitive, at least stick with quality and local specialties so that the guests can enjoy some authentic Mexicans cuisine. BIRDS: This is a problem. Allowing vultures to enter your buffet restaurants to eat and defecate where they want is not acceptable! At night, so many mosquitos - we could not eat there. Find a way to enclose the buffet resto. add air conditioning, eliminate the BIRDS and MOSQUITOS and your guests will be in heaven. END note: this hotel capitalizes on their location which is ideal, but they could so easily tweak a few details and improve guest experience by 100%.

This hotel was in a great location. We stayed in the non-updated part but only because we wanted a larger room. The hotel offered to upgrade us but we wanted the room with a tub. We loved our stay there and would definitely go again!

It was raining very hard when we checked in. I asked for an umbrella, never got one. Asked where restroom was (right across hall from preferred check in desk) As I walked out the door to cross to the bathroom I slipped and fell flat on my back in several inches of water. I was being very careful and had even put on shoes that didn't normally slip in the water. I went on into the bathroom and when I came out I took my shoes off to be more cautious on the slick tile and fell AGAIN. At this point I was very shaken up and shaking and soaking wet. I got back to the check in desk and told the check in person that I had fallen and was cold and wet and needed a towel. He just casually laughed it off and proceeded to try to get us to go to a presentation the next day and to get us to book massages and romatic dinners. The staff was not concerned at all that I had fallen and that I was soaking wet. They had already taken my luggage so I couldn't even change clothes and they never did get me a towel or even offer me one. Then I had to sit in the lounge, still in wet clothes for 90 more minutes waiting to get in our room. When we finally got to the room I was going to take a hot bath to take off the chill and discovered that there is NO hot water. It's Lukewarm and barely trickled out of the faucet so we never got to use that amazing tub that was in the room. it's useless with no water pressure and no hot water. It was also very hard to get housekeeping amenities. we requested toilet paper 3 times before we got any. Never got any face wash clothes, even after requesting on the app and in person several times. The food was good in most places and the bar staff and restaurant staff was awesome. The view was amazing but the beach was too rocky to really get in and swim so we pretty much stayed at the pool. Housekeeping was hit or miss. Some days the room got cleaned and other days it didn't. We had an ok time but was expecting a lot more, especially since we paid for the ”preferred” club. Most buildings need updating but the views were fabulous but Not sure if we will ever come back.

I love green and nature and my husband loves the beach. This resort is the perfect balance so we both could have what we wanted. The paths from the room to the beach were beautiful with greenery all around. The beach itself was amazing. The food at the buffet was alright and when we did the reserved dinners at the restaurants the food was amazing. When we went to the seafood restaurant the chef prepared the ”Four Fish” dish and it was the best Mahi Mahi I have ever had. We will definitely be going back to this resort.

Outstanding
NNomad1638186373692detectInitially, I hesitated to rate VLA 5 stars because I would not consider it a luxury hotel. The property is a bit old but well-maintained and attractive. Rooms are basic but clean and functional. We had a bit of an issue with tiny ants but I think you would find it difficult to find any place like this in Cozumel that did not. I also was put off initially by the booking process. All my communication was through What’s App and I was requested to make a deposit using PayPal to a personal account. I never received any booking confirmation by email. Not a typical reservation process but all was above board and check in was flawless. In the end, I rated five stars because of the value and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. David at the front desk made sure we were settled and had everything we needed. Drinking water? A five-gallon jug showed up in our room within the hour. Extra bed? Set up by check-in. Extra towels? Sure! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again as a cost-effective, comfortable alternative to the larger resorts.
GGuest UserEvery part of our two stays at Hotel zen was excellent! Clean comfy beds, super helpful and kind staff, and the view from our sea-view room was incredible.
The restaurant was an unexpected pleasure, from the background music to the world class cuisine.
Love love love the infinity pool and sauna right on the oceans edge.
Huge thumbs up!
GGuest UserGood staff, they have a snorkel and diving area part of the hotel. The food is 5 starts ! We took the all inclusive deal for 42 dollars. Worth it! The only thing was the jacuzzi, kids were not allowed but there were some small kids swimming there so it wasn’t relaxing enough, they were also eating there ! Apart from that everything was excellent.
GGuest UserI felt the price we paid for this hotel was not warranted based on the quality for the following reasons: 1. Shower drain was broken and had a piece of round plastic covering it to protect you getting cut on the metal pieces. 2. Decor is not great. 3. We had to ask for toilet paper a few times as opposed to it being supplied during cleaning. 4. We talked to a number of other people who paid less than half what we paid - in fairness this was my fault. I booked on booking.com and paid what they asked. One couple booked at the hotel and were able to negotiate a price less than half what we paid. 5. It is situated across the street from a night club and the music is very loud. We initially thought it would make sleeping a problem but fortunately it didn't bother us at all. 6. Smoking was allowed on the patio during breakfast. On the positive side: 1. Staff are great. The breakfast staff and cleaning staff are very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast staff will cut up fruit for you if you ask. Miriam was a favorite for us because she spoke fluent english. 2. The place is very clean - they are cleaning all day. The pool is cleaned regularly - but is quite cold. I liked it this way actually. 3. It is close to the downtown plaza. 4. The AC works really well. 5. They have two hotel cats. :) This could be a negative for some people. 6. The bed is very comfortable - we had a king sized bed which was fantastic. The bedding was changed frequently - I think every other day. The bed is made up every day. Overall I would stay here again but would expect a much lower price.
My first time in Cozumel so I wasn't sure what to expect. The water is beautiful. Our room was ok. Our only issue was we had to ask for toilet paper all the time. They never left any when they did the room. I think Angie did our room though and did a great job. When the boats came in, they kind of overtook the pool and beach area. And with that I feel like the staff walking around asking about drinks, ignored us more. The food was just ok. I ate a lot of bacon. My favorite thing there was Roger. The activities guy. He was the best. So helpful and so very nice. He joined us for games. Always came up to see if we were ok and greeted us with a hug. We all could've taken him home. Arie was great also but I can't say enough good things about Roger. Just loved him.
GGuest UserNot only is the facilities well maintained, but the staff are very friendly and friendly.
Also, all inclusive meals and food and drinks are also varied and tasty, well maintained and you can have a leisurely break on the private beach of the resort which is not crowded.
I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days, but I would like to highly recommend it to my acquaintances as well as I want to find it again if I have a chance.
