Hotels near Catholic Church of the Holy Family, Sanderstead, Croydon

Arrived today at the hotel at 1500 to check in having booked disabled room plus one other almost three months ago. The receptionist apologised to me and said lift wasn’t working, but an engineer was currently at Rotherhithr and would be there in two hours. As my 89 yo mother uses a wheelchair and we had travelled five hours to get there that was a bit irksome, but I arranged for us to do something else until lift was ready. The said they would call when it was working. At 1800 I had heard nothing so called and was told engineer had four hours to attend and would be there soon. 1900 called again, no engineer and Sharon reiterated the four hour slot and there wasn’t anything she could do. I told her that my my mother wanted her room as she was very tired and she made some calls. She reiterated the four hour rule, I reminded her that at had arrived at the hotel at 1430 and it wasn’t working then either. She chose to be one defensive mentioning I didn’t check in until 1500. That is correct but I was with family there earlier and it had already failed before I checked in. I asked her to make alternative arrangements for us for the night and she said she would try. What that actually transpired was she said there was no hotel nearby with rooms and she couldn’t help and I could have a refund. Hardly helpful, and she didn’t seem to realise the gravity of an 89 year old lady needing a lift to get to a pre booked room and that a refund was not the answer, but good customer service was needed. I asked her to contact her management to arrange something. She tried but to no avail. I called advise her that within ten minutes I had found hotels nearby (and trust me at this point I’m stressed and getting irritated that she seemingly had no intention of helping. She couldn’t have tried hard as the local premier inn had availability (I told her first it was a travelodge but she chose to patronize me that there wasn’t one on the Purley way - and anyway the room was a available. Thatnlast statement is correct but without throwing Ann elderly lady over my shoulders it was inaccessible. I went to the hotel alone to retrieve bags dropped earlier and still she argued that the room was available and that the lift engineer was there! The lift still didn’t work and rather than argue with this woman kept repeating she could do NOTHING And that the room was available I chose instead to deal with another member of staff - retrieved bags to go and collect my mother and stay elsewhere. We will return tomorrow for the remainder of the stay and I will raise in person with the general manager. My family is spending around £1000 at this place for a special event this weekend. Some empathy would have been in order, and there is the issue of breach of contract i intend to raise with the general manager on this occasion. Although it is not in the city of London, it is very convenient to get into the city by taking the Southern Train. You can save on room fees by using the distance. The room is large and the air is fresh, suitable for passengers with large luggage. The breakfast has few choices and can feed the passengers.

A nice hotel at reasonable price near London. It would take 15 minutes to get to the centre of London by train. The hotel was situated between East Croydon station and West Croydon station, with 10 minutes walk to either station. There is a shopping centre at the opposite of the hotel. Lots of eateries nearby. The atmosphere there was relaxing and safe. The staff was nice, amenities were adequate. It is recommended in general.

Exceptional stay at Hampton London Croydon! Highly recommend for a memorable getaway!

The hotel is very close to the subway station and the railway station. The transportation is convenient. The surrounding environment is good and shopping is convenient

I don’t usually stay in Ibis hotels but this one is like no other ibis hotel I’ve stayed at. From the laid back informal reception area to the contemporary rooms this was a good overnight stay. I appreciated the welcome cookies. The room was spacious but clearly designed for short stays in regards to storage space. There’s USB ports by the bedside. The bathroom has a shower, no bath and good to see the body soap and shampoo in dispensers rather than individual plastic bottles. The water though was only luke warm. The Wi-Fi signal was excellent. Location is excellent in the centre of town and just a few minutes walk to the station. The restaurant menu was limited but adequate for most tastes. My only complaint was the pulsing noise of the bathroom extractor fan which is independent of the air conditioning in the room and not able to switch off.

Just leaving Holiday Inn Sutton and have had a truly wonderful stay. This hotel was used as a base for exploring London and surrounding areas and can't recommend highly enough. Ok we're not talking 5 star luxury, but if you're looking for that common sense should tell you to book elsewhere. However if you're looking for CLEAN (so important) and comfort with EXCELLENT staff then this will be for you! Staff are honestly some of the best I've encountered (even in 5 star hotels) and I don't say that lightly. Restaurant, front desk, housekeeping, health club all an absolute credit to the hotel and brand. Thank you. Nothing was to much trouble and you made our stay really great. It's the morning and evening acknowledements and friendly vibe and all the little touches that really do go a long way. We'll be back and would highly recommend this hotel and if there's a way to reward staff on duty 27th-29th August 2022 please do :)

Absolutely loved the location and will definitely return. The service and attention to detail from the reception team especially is 10/10. Certain areas of the hotel need refurbishing - even if just a lick of paint for now as they aren't in line with the rest of the hotel. The room was small but practical and unfortunately didn't have the best of views but that's not an issue. I felt comfortable and safe during my stay. Had a minor issue with the air con unit which is very dated and didn't match the aesthetic of a modern and refurbished room which looks very appealing. Overall, would be very happy to visit again especially during the summer and try out their dinner menu.
