Plantation Resort on Crystal River, Ascend Hotel Collection

The city of Crystal River is such a hidden gem of Florida. The city is very charming and has alot of outdoor activities. However, we will not return as guests of this resort which is a shame since its so close to everything. It is in desperate need of a deep clean and upgrade. First, the rooms were disgusting. The desk chair had stains and food on it. The door to the room looked like someone kicked it in. The bed sheets were not changed from the previous occupants. The pillows smelled like sweat, and when I pulled the sheets back to go to bed, the sheets had hair, dirt and debris on it, and smelled like feet. We ended up sleeping on top of the sheets. I informed the front desk and housekeeping changed the bedding the next day. Fortunately, housekeeping did clean the room and changed our towels everyday after that. The room key deactivated everyday so we went to the front desk every day to get a new one. When speaking with the front desk, some were helpful. However, there was one lady who's tone made it feel like I was inconveniencing her when I had questions. The only saving grace is the adventure center. We had such a great experience and everyone was so helpful and pleasant. If we had not booked a manatee tour with them, the experience at the resort would have been completely unpleasant.

I have been wanting to stay here for a very long time and the opportunity arose. Well, what a disappointment. The best way to describe the resort is dingy and dumpy. The pictures of the beautiful property are old and staged. Room was a dingy plain room that needs some TLC. The bathroom is straight out of a Motel 6. Driving into the property, you will see how it could use a pressure washing and/or brighter paint. You would think some of the ripped awnings would be repaired. Walking into the hallways of the buildings is drab. Hospital hallways are brighter. The bottoms of the doors could use some paint to make them look less run down. I noticed a big dirt pile outside our door in the hallway. The room is basic. Tv and two beds with a dresser. The hotel staff was nice, however the clerk at the front desk could have had more personality. She didn’t seem to want to be there either. She definitely didn’t care to hear our complaints or offer to rectify our issues. This property can be the gem of Crystal River, but it needs serious care and up-keeping.

I booked a junior suite with a water view and was looking forward to my stay. I had not visited this property. When I arrived there was a significant leak in the ceiling and water was dripping inside the room. The carpet was soaked. The front desk and house keeping were understaffed and we were told they could not move us to the same or higher room. We were placed in a room with a significant downgrade and when I went to the front desk to Check out, my credit card had been charged the fee for the junior suite. The shift desk clerk took off some fees to lower my cost, but overall this was a disappointing experience and I do not know if I would ever come back.

The property is old and a bit outdated. Our bathroom was dingy and there were missing parts to the shower. West 52 resteraunt was average at best. Walkable to manatee adventure and outdoor pool and bar was nice.

This place is not worth the price. It smells in the stair ways. The floors are dirty. They do not clean the rooms during your stay. We ran out of toilet paper and towels. The hot tub didn’t work the entire time we were there ( one week) The place is in really bad shape and they are robbing people by charging what they charge to stay there. From the second I enter the hallway before I even seen the room I knew I made a mistake booking this place. I recommend finding a different hotel to stay.

After a long flight and drive to get there, the staff who checked us in was unwelcoming and unfriendly. She didn’t tell us about any of the hotel’s amenities like the fact there was a coffee shop on the hotel for the morning, and when I asked about a late check out, due to our manatee swimming trip ending at the same time as check out was scheduled, she said that late check out was not available. When I asked the new staff person in the morning the same question, she said we could check out late for no fee. There was no water pressure in the shower, and the blankets on the bed was very thin with no extra blankets available. We were cold all night with no way to make it warmer since the thermostat did not do that. We needed a couple extra towels to use after our no pressure shower and were told they had run out. The lady in the coffee shop was nice as was the lady that told us we actually could check out late, but overall, this hotel was a huge disappointment.

Our recent stay at the Plantation Resort on Crystal River left much to be desired, primarily due to several significant shortcomings in cleanliness and customer service. Upon entering the hotel, the first impression was marred by the condition of the rugs lining the halls. They were not only visibly old and dirty but emitted a strong musty odor that permeated the air—a stark contrast to the expectation of a clean and welcoming environment. Entering our room did not improve matters. The tub in the bathroom was marked with dirt stains, indicating a lack of thorough cleaning. The countertops in the room were sticky, necessitating our own cleaning efforts before we could comfortably use them. Further inspection revealed neglect in maintenance; the baseboards along the walls and the nightstands were coated in dust, suggesting that these areas had been overlooked for some time. The refrigerator provided an additional nuisance with its incessant noise, disrupting what little peace and relaxation we had hoped to find. Seeking resolution, we brought these issues to the attention of the receptionist. Regrettably, the response we received was far from satisfactory. The receptionist appeared annoyed by our concerns and offered a curt apology, stating only that maintenance would be notified. There was a distinct lack of empathy or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused by the substandard conditions. What compounded our disappointment was the absence of any gesture of goodwill or compensation for the inconveniences endured. While we did not seek compensation out of greed, a gesture of acknowledgment and concern for our experience would have gone a long way in demonstrating a commitment to guest satisfaction. In conclusion, our experience at the Plantation Resort on Crystal River fell well below expectations. The issues with cleanliness and maintenance were glaring, and the indifferent response from the receptionist further detracted from what should have been a pleasant stay. For a resort that advertises comfort and quality, significant improvements in cleanliness standards and customer service responsiveness are imperative to meet the expectations of discerning guests.

Room and hallways were dirty. Mattress in our room was TRASH lots of exterior doors left unlocked. Keys hardly work anywhere. Hot tub was freezing.
