I spent one night in the Chelsea Hotel to do some sightseeing in Dar and it was very good for that purpose. The hotel was a little bit dated, but otherwise completely up to the standards which I expect from a hotel. It's located not far from the clock tower, which to my understanding pinpoints the centerpoint of the city. The actual sights I went to see started further away, about 20 minutes by foot. The room was adequate in size and had good aircon. I had a twin room. I first tried sleeping in the bed further away from the aircon, but the air blew directly there, so I had to move to the bed right under the aircon unit. The hotel was located close to a busy road and the honking of the cars could be heard up to the sixth floor. However it wasn't bad. The breakfast was ok. It didn't have a very wide selection, but the items I tried were tasty and of good quality. Also the setting in the restaurant was pleasant. The only negative I have to say is the extraorbitant exchange rate. I had paid my room rate in advance, but I had to pay the city tax (1.50 USD) at the hotel. I asked to pay in Tsh and had to pay 7000 Tsh, equivalent to about 3$. My loss was only 1.50$, so it wasn't a big deal in my case, but the principle left a bad taste in my mouth. If the room rate would have been 1.50$ higher but the city tax 3500 Tsh, I would have left as a happy customer. The hotel offered airport transfer for 42000 Tsh. It was quite pricy. The fixed price at the official taxi stand at the airport was 30000 Tsh. On the way back to the airport I used a rideshare app to get my transfer, it cost Tsh 12000.

Not bad, the price is a bit too expensive, 18, it doesn't feel worth it.
But it seems that this is already the best hotel in Dashi. The experience of staying is OK. The breakfast is not bad. The service attitude is OK. The sanitary environment is relatively good. The location is OK. Close to the port.

Due to the flight delay, it was already night when we arrived in Dar. We arrived at the hotel in a daze. It was not as luxurious as we imagined, but it was still elegant. The double bed we booked on the platform was probably full, so we arranged a double bed + a small bed room lol. Although the brothers were not unfamiliar with it, haha~
It took a little time to check in. The room was clean, and there was everything you could need for water and self-service coffee. Since the meeting lasted until the early morning, I got up after less than 3 hours of sleep. After all, the breakfast was good, which comforted my tired stomach and was also a kind of compensation.
The overall feeling was good. The price was a little high, but the accommodation experience was OK. It was very close to the port. In the morning, we caught the boat to Sang Island. The hotel was only 5 minutes away from the pier, which was quite convenient!

Located at a very centralise location in the city. Service is okay. Security is good and tight. More selection of restaurants/bars will be good. Overall a pleasant stay.

I'm going to give my honest review about Gold Tulip Resort in Dar es Salaam. This should not be a 4 Star Hotel it should be a 2.5 - 3 Star. My husband and I stayed at this location from 02/02/23 - 02/10/23. The driver for the hotel picked my husband and I up from the airport very nice man. I would like to talk about the Pro's and Con's of this place. Con's Finally arriving at our destination I was so confused and disturbed by how unpleasant it looked in the back of the building. The inside of the receptionist lobby was very clean and it smelled amazing. It was nice and cool. Taking the elevator to the 16th floor was extremely hot. They should install an air conditioning system or a fan inside of the elevator because it's very hot an muggy. My husband and I stayed in room 1606. The room was nice and spacious. Several things I did not like about the room. 1. TV was really small and it wasn't directly in the middle where it should've been. 2. No sports station only in the restaurant on the 20th and 21st floor which was super annoying. You're not able to enjoy your stay and watch sports in your room. 3. On February 9th it stormed and my husband and I were asleep. The sound of the thunder and lightening woke me up. I tried going back to sleep but I kept hearing rain drops which sounded as if it the rain was dropping onto the floor. I get up at 3am and check and low and behold the window seal was completely drenched and water was also on the floor. How is this possible??? They need to do some immediate work on their windows because this is extremely dangerous. 4. Bathroom was very unpleasant looking. The toilet was absolutely disgusting. No matter how many times the housekeeper came to clean the inside of the toilet where the water refills was so corded with rust. Everytime we flushed the water was brown. That was disgusting. It really bothers me when I needed to shower water would get all over the floor because there was no door to keep the water inside the shower. The existing glass door that's there water gets underneath it and gets all over the floor. Water temperature takes time to get hot. 5. Air conditioner unit is horrible and they need to replace all of them in each room. For this place to charge so much money they can afford to upgrade the air conditioning unit, TV, TV Stations, Glass door for shower, toilets, etc... 6. My husband and I ate at their restaurant almost everyday. The prices of their breakfast is ridiculous because the food they have for all you can eat wasn't pleasant. To charge what they charge is a bit outrageous. The drinks they have out are NEVER and I mean NEVER iced cold. When you ask them for ice it's always a hassle to get because their machine doesn't always work. It's really hot in the morning and not having an iced cold beverage is annoying. Dinner Menu I got really bored with. First thing I ordered on their menu was Chicken Tom Yom Soup. When I tell you this soup was no where near Tom Yom.soup. It tasted not

I stayed here for several days. The external environment of the hotel is very beautiful. It feels like a resort paradise. I can chat with customers while enjoying the sea breeze. The only drawback is that the hotel often does not have hot water. In hot weather, you can only take cold showers. Other than that, Outside, everything is fine

I booked this hotel due to two reasons - its a Marriot property now and the beach pier which I saw in the pics. Unfortunately the pier is closed now and there is no direct access to any beach. That was a big disappointment. The other issue was that there is no calling bell outside the room. So the staff has to knock!! If you are asleep or TV is ON, you will mostly not hear it. Bit strange despite being a marriot property.
The pros: The check in and checkout was seamless. The reception is very well managed and the people are very nice and hospitable. The breakfast buffet was good with nice vegetarian options (which I had requested and the hotel was kind enough to oblige). The deluxe room with ocean view was quite large and had a nice balcony. though not directly on the watefront, could view the ocean...it should be renamed as partial view of ocean though. The in room dining food was quite good. Also the location is in a nice part of the town.

It‘s a fairly new hotel and part of Marriott Bonvoy. I enjoyed to stay there a lot, the staff is very friendly and attentive. The breakfast buffet is nice and with various options. The pool has a nice size, however lacking a view. Talking about view, some rooms have nice sea view. Others have pool view but you also see the green landscape which is nice too. The rooms are pretty big, kind of small TV though, but they feel very comfortable and the bed is great too. Also USB and an international power plug at the night stand, which still a lot of other hotels don‘t have. Rooms are cleaned very well. The gym is very basic, only machines for cardio and a few weights. Ate dinner at the restaurant several times and always got good food. There is an area called Slipway just 5 walking minutes away, that also provides great food options and a bit of nightlife.

The interior room is damp, clothes can't dry even after three days of washing, there is no sun, and you can't see the so-called interior, the room is ok, the room is clean. The room size is OK. The seafood in Karambezi restaurant is good, the desserts are good, the environment is good, and you can see the sea for breakfast! The swimming pool is also clean, the gym equipment is OK, the waiter service is good, and there is a casino next to it. If you bring your family here, you must see the sea, it's amazing, you can listen to the sea at night, see the sea during the day, and see the sea for breakfast and dinner

Outstanding
IImina OlgaNice hotel, with spacious suites which would be ideal for a longer stay, with Coco beach just across the road. Staff was very polite, friendly and service minded. Because it was not busy (just before peak season will start mid december) they offered us an extra amenity by means of roomservice. The first night we ate in the restaurant of the hotel which was good and tastefull. Breakfast could be better, a bit too plain and bad coffee. But all in all a pleasant stay.
Home away from home was a understatement. The staff is truly friendly and very accommodating. The GM was excellent, not to mention the tuk tuk driver, took me to the bank and brought me food from different vendors directly to the hotel. But the star of the show was Ibrahim, he was helpful informative and keep me company between my meetings and my schedule. The rooms are as advertised clean and comfortable, and the pool area is a little oasis.
SSurasak HompimolpornThe hotel is in the city but not very busy. Breakfast has a lot to choose from, clean rooms, rooftop restaurant tastes good. Overall, the price is reasonable.
GGS7Exceptional Experience!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at your hotel, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the rooms were immaculate and comfortable, and the location was perfect.
The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a wide variety of options to suit all tastes. The hotel's amenities were top-notch, and the service was impeccable.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fantastic stay. The value for money is unbeatable!
AandyThe location is good. It is a 15-minute walk from the beach. Even in the CBD, the service staff are very friendly and polite. The breakfast is very good. The 360-degree restaurant on the top floor is still a bit far from other introductions. After entering the door, I suspected that I was going wrong. The small lobby and the front desk of a service staff are not comparable to domestic holidays. There are a lot of hotels around, and I went to see others to know that they are not as good as this one (there is a five-star hotel next to it, don't compare, the price is doubled),
GGuest UserI just stayed at Q Bar & Guesthouse and been amazed by the loveliness of the staff. The guesthouse is comfortable, AC, spacious and lit rooms, safe, little desk area, sofa, TV. I very much appreciated the whole stay. From start they were super responsive on the booking engine. At check in Ibra showed me few rooms before choosing what i wanted, made sure i was comfy, cooked breakfast by Grace was perfect, she's lovely and so is whole staff, and Joel the manager is very nice and welcoming. The Bar is popular in the area and the location is perfect! No noise, the rooms are quiet. Definitely recommend.
GGuest UserRelatively middle-priced hotel in dar, room is large with large bed and separate toilet and shower. Staff are nice. First day of arrival the air conditioner was not working and they immediately asked someone to fix. And the restaurant was good in my expectation, it closes at 11pm and I can still order food at 1030pm. The only improvement is that the WiFi is poor, almost no connection in my room.
AAmidhu StambuliThere should improve on their breakfast . I like tea or coffee but on the morning of 1 January the tea i was given if i am not mistaken with measurements it was 150mls in a very tiny cup.
I think there should be an upgrade on quality of breakfast which i think was down graded compared to the previous breakfast i had in August 2022.
At that time and day in August it was a buffet
NNASSER-EDDINE BEN DAOUDThe hotel's room is comfortable : there is an air conditioner that works very well. Every thing is clean especially the toilets. The bed is smooth and the T.V is interesting to watch. What I liked mostly about the hotel is their hospitality and service. A good place to stay in Dar Es Salaam. ❤❤❤
