This guesthouse is located in the cluster of B&Bs near the North Gate of the ancient city, and it's quite peaceful compared to the area around the South Gate. There's no dedicated parking, but there are free parking spots available in front of the shops across the street. We stayed in the 'Muyun' room on the second floor. The guesthouse's environment, facilities, and cleanliness were all good; it seems to have opened recently, as the room had a slight new-decoration smell. The bespectacled young lady at the front desk was very friendly, offering to help with our luggage and introducing us to places to eat and things to do in the ancient city. Breakfast was provided daily, but we only had it once, choosing to eat in the ancient city for the remaining days because the breakfast was a bit monotonous. My only complaint is that there was no one at reception when we checked out. We were simply told to leave our room key and go, with no farewell, and we didn't receive the welcome gift mentioned on the booking page. I hope the guesthouse continues to improve.

The place is very clean, and the environment is really cozy, making for a very comfortable stay. The shower pressure is fantastic, I'm very satisfied, it's such great value! The staff (specifically, a young lady) was very welcoming and even thoughtfully prepared breakfast for us. Five-star recommendation!

We took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Everything was great, the only downside was that the courtyard rooms were too close together and the soundproofing wasn't good. I was woken up at 6 am by the loud talking of the early-rising tourists next door. 🥲 The complimentary snacks, fruits, and breakfast were quite nutritious and unique.

I chose this guesthouse for a weekend trip to Datong. The location was fantastic, easy to get a taxi, and the housekeeper was very welcoming and attentive. She even prepared hot milk and brown sugar water for me when it got cooler in the evening. The room was new and had an elevator, which was great for seniors. The surrounding area was also very quiet. They even gave me a special souvenir when I left!
