Yungang Jianguo Hotel

The breakfast was exceptionally good, offering local thick congee, knife-cut noodles, and lamb offal soup. If you don't have the time or energy to venture out for local specialties, trying them at the hotel breakfast is an excellent choice. I personally think it offers much better value for money than HUAZHU hotels. The service was super good. The lobby provided brown sugar ginger tea and black tea, which I grabbed a cup of in the morning when I was in a rush, saving me the trouble of brewing my own. The front desk staff were very patient with any questions I had. I completely forgot to check out after breakfast and only remembered in the afternoon when I was already in Taiyuan. I called to check out, and they didn't even mention any late check-out fees. Much appreciated!

I had dinner at the hotel both nights. The waitstaff at the bar were all very polite, and the prices were reasonable – truly excellent. If you live nearby, it's definitely a place you could frequent. The next evening, I went for a shower, and again, the service was very courteous. I honestly feel this hotel is better than the ones in Taiyuan.

1. The room was good, and the pillows were comfortable, but the shower knob wouldn't switch, making showering very inconvenient. 2. The service at this five-star hotel is impeccable, and they even provided complimentary welcome fruit. 3. The breakfast was also very rich and varied. It was my first time having congee in such a large bowl – truly impressive! 😁😁 However, the cleanliness of the dining tables could be improved; they weren't wiped down very well. I hope this issue can be addressed. 4. I saw comments in the Q&A section mentioning a shuttle bus from the hotel to the Yungang Grottoes, but after asking, it turns out there isn't one. 5. My last point is for Trip.com. On the day of arrival, I checked and found that the hotel's price was lower than what I had booked. I reported it to Trip.com, and they immediately refunded the difference, which was very efficient.

I stayed at this hotel three years ago and just spent another two nights here. It's as comfortable as ever. The parking lot is huge, and it's not far from the old town. The absolute highlight, though, is the breakfast – it's fantastic! Still a great variety and delicious too.

The staff were incredibly enthusiastic and the breakfast buffet offered a great variety, especially the knife-cut noodles which I highly recommend. The only minor issue was that the room was too warm; the air conditioning temperature wasn't adjusted for the weather. Despite that, both the room facilities and attention to detail make this a highly recommended stay! 😊

Staying at Yungang Jianguo Hotel in Datong this time was an absolute highlight and the smartest choice! **Location:** Situated on a bustling street close to the ancient city, it's just a 10-minute taxi ride away. From my room, I had a panoramic view of the ancient city, and the night view was stunning. Right across the street are the famous Beiwei Family Feast and Kaige Restaurant. If you walk a few minutes to the left, there's a street with all sorts of delicious food; Li Er Xianyu (fresh fish) and Xiao Tan Jia BBQ were particularly good. **Dining:** The breakfast was not just abundant, it was truly lavish! There was a vast array of Chinese and Western options, with an incredible variety of dishes and choices. The Chinese restaurant on the second floor had a great ambiance and excellent food. Portions were generous, and the knife-cut noodles were only 6 yuan a bowl, served with soup – perfect for southern palates and very authentic. Other dishes like roasted lamb chops, sour soup with sliced lamb, 'guoyou rou' (sautéed pork), and 'shaomai' (dumplings) were all delicious. The various green vegetables were incredibly sweet. **Service:** From the lobby to the guest rooms and the restaurant, the service was impeccable and very warm. Complimentary fruit and bottled water were provided daily. **Ambiance:** The hotel exterior is grand, and the lobby is opulent, decorated in a very festive style. The room was spacious, and the single bed was 1.35 meters wide, making for a very comfortable sleep. This was a truly perfect and satisfying stay. I genuinely recommend it to all fellow travelers!
